Thank you both shall try those

Managed a 19 hour fast yesterday. Went over to see my Mum because she hasn’t been well over the Christmas period and wasn’t able to stay for Christmas lunch on Christmas Day. Had a wrap for lunch but then Mum forced some homemade trifle on me as she was trying to use it up. Was very yummy. Had a lighter dinner last night to try and compensate.

I weighed this morning and back to bang on 9st 6/59.9 kg.

Not sure what lunch will be today. I might suggest that DD and I go for brunch together as last few remaining days that we are both at home before I go back to work on Monday and her back to uni next Friday.

The thing that I absolutely love about this way of eating is that you still get to indulge in lovely food and it doesnt feel like you are denying yourself everything that you love. Feels so much more sustainable as a result.

greengreyblue · 03/01/2025 12:58

I don’t use an app. I just stop eating after dinner and don’t eat until 12 onwards the next day. I log my weekly weight in my notes on my phone. Weigh day for me and still up at 61.1 but have confidence I’ll soon be back down. @Rollergirl11 always accept your mum’s trifle 😍. I no longer have my mum and so soak it all in. Hope she feels better .

I use Fastic. The ads are annoying but do the job. There’s no way I could keep track without an app personally.

defo need to face a weigh in but will wait until after my period next week.

Ilikeyoursleeves · 03/01/2025 16:04

17 hour fast today and a big nature walk with a pal. We went for brunch and I had the most delicious poached egg and Italian tomato sauce & toast combo to break my fast. I had a bit of shortbread this aft (also amazing, milk choc and salted caramel) and aiming to fast again tonight after dinner. I agree it's a great way to keep weight off as I still mainly eat what I want but just cut out all the shite at night 🤣

greengreyblue · 03/01/2025 16:15

Today was an 18 hr fast
lunch: a leftover chicken skewer with salad and bulgur wheat and seeds plus an apple.

dinner: will be a lean chilli with some baked sweet potato chips and a dollop of yoghurt.

Horrified by my weight gain. I was just under 10 stone till I was 40, gained half a stone after having my kids, and then went up to 11 stone by 50. I am now (post menopausal) 11.11. My clothes don't fit and I feel hideous. I've started to snore and my back aches. My BMi is pushing 29.
On day 2 of 16:8. Will also cut out sugar. I have a birthday coming up. Im thinking of following birthday celebrations with proper fast days. I intended to start exercise yesterday and had bought my runnIng shoes. Then on New Year's Eve I twisted my ankle and can't even hobble to the shops! I'd like to get to 10 stone. Then my clothes will fit and hopefully my cholesterol and snoring will be under control. If I can do it by July I'll be thrilled!

JasperHale · 03/01/2025 16:33

Hi 👋🏻
Started on Tuesday to ditch the wine. What better way to stop drinking than start fasting, right? Aim was 18:6, doing 19-20 when busy, out, so late for lunch. Missing wine in the evening, but mornings compensate it marvellously.

Cashew1 · 03/01/2025 16:45

Welcome new joiners!

20 hour fast
Overnight oats, cottage cheese on crackers and a square of dark choc
Dinner will be veg chilli, rice and yoghurt

A long walk in the cold.

Eating later today to avoid going to bed hungry.

Ilikeyoursleeves · 03/01/2025 21:02

@rainypane don't be too hard on yourself! Ease yourself in with fasting, do you think cutting out sugars would be too much too all at once? Just saying that cos I like how I can still have some little treats in my eating window and I think if I was too restrictive I'd find the whole process way too hard! Today I've had some shortbread and also Xmas Quality Streets 🤣🙈 but started fasting after dinner. Currently having a herbal tea which is quite nice!

I once tried to cut out sugar and failed miserably! Although going to try to reduce ultra processed foods if I can

greengreyblue · 04/01/2025 09:47

Welcome newbies!
Agree with @Ilikeyoursleeves on starting with one thing at a time. Get used to fasting and don’t be too hard on yourself. A move to real food and cutting out the crap is good for everyone but don’t be too hard too soon . I have just continued with daily dog walks( brisk and 30-60 mins) and some home strength work so no major exercise. Good luck.
Happy to say I’m back to target this morning of 60.5. 😀
PS I should add I had a bottle of Becks last night but no more- didn’t fancy it. Also had one chocolate.

I've been doing this naturally as I'm never hungry in the morning. So lunch and dinner. I do tend to overindulge though as I'm not losing weight?

rainypane · 04/01/2025 11:15

i Agree with you all about not going for extremes but last night I stuffed myself in my window as my daughter cooked me a delicious meal with a trifle and manhattans!!!!! Restarting today and keeping my eye on the long term

Sounds lush! 😂
But that’s the beauty of this . You can balance out. Lots of us have done OMAD( one meal a day) following a big day/ night. Stretching out the fast and eating your main meal earlier. Or just eating much lighter the next day.

19 hour fast today and broke it there with a chicken salad panini and then some left over Christmas Cake, we still have loads of Xmas goodies in the house but I'm just having a little each day bit in my eating window and not going mad with the binging I used to do, like eating a whole Ferrero Rocher box or something!

Thanks. This was my plan but I had to tape someone today and had to break my fast early as my stomach rumblings were picked up on the recording! I shall persevere however

Ilikeyoursleeves · 04/01/2025 22:09

I'm over 4 hours into today's fast and I AM SOOOOO STARVING.

😩

Cashew1 · 05/01/2025 09:00

Yesterday was a 17 hour fast

Hummus on toast with salad
Cottage cheese crackers
Roasted tomatoes and feta on pasta with a slice or two of garlic bread
Piece of chocolate

Did a one hour run at the gym yesterday so feeling good! Aiming for 18 hour fast today but depends when my friends serve up lunch!

Rollergirl11 · 05/01/2025 09:35

17 hour fast yesterday. Went for brunch with DD yesterday and went for a full English breakfast which was yummy. It kept me full pretty much all day and wasn’t that hungry last night. So I opted for some cauliflower cheese instead of the meal we had planned.

Weighed this morning and am up by 1 1/2 lbs which I’m surprised about. Can’t think of any reason for the gain so expecting that it will be off again soon.

Back to work tomorrow and ready to be back in to my normal routine.

greengreyblue · 05/01/2025 09:50

Probably salt causing water retention. Yesterday I did 18 hrs
lunch: poached egg, half a small avocado and salad, an apple, few walnuts.
dinner: takeaway Indian food- chicken saag, shared a peshwari naan. Small spoon of rice and a couple of Bombay potatoes. 2 gin and light tonics. Was yummy.

So after feeling so hungry at the 4 hour mark last night I went to bed and managed a 19 hour fast in the end! Just broke it there with the most delicious lunch!!

Homemade chicken soup & cheese scones made by DH- amazzzzing.
Homemade smoothie with pomegranate, mango, banana and orange juice- sooo delicious (but a total PITA to make lol, I only had a pomegranate cos my son wanted to see what it was like!)

greengreyblue · 05/01/2025 14:34

I find hunger passes and doesn’t get worse, more that it comes in waves . That’s when you meed a hot drink. Had a big dog walk in the snow/slush then took the decs down
19 hr fast today just broken with a crunchy salad, half an avocado and some smoked mackerel. An apple.
Dinner will probably be pasta. Back to work tomorrow. 🥲

Aubergine parmigiana, roasted veg and bread

Decent walk but a bit wet!

greengreyblue · 05/01/2025 17:56

DH made a lovely tagliatelle bolognaise with salad and ciabatta. Had red wine too. But will be nil by mouth by 6pm.

Just had dinner and I'm now fasting again! Although I'm totally stuffed right now- dinner was more homemade chicken soup and a ciabatta with chorizo, cheese and sweet peppers. Then some Xmas chocolate and a cuppa.

Back to work tomo too and I'm going to make a salad tonight to take with me and whizz a smoothie in the morning too.
