Day 1 of this adventure. I’ve got a headache but will soon be going to bed.
My eating window today was 8am-4pm. I’ve got so much to shift & hope I can keep this up. Anyone else want to join?

It’s almost easier to fast that regulate eating sometimes!
Today:
lunch - salad with some potato salad and chicken, an apple. A few crisps at work buffet.
Dinner- Dahl with yoghurt, 2 Lindor ( end of term gift) , satsuma.

Queencam · 23/07/2024 19:27

Soooo much easier fasting. I can just find any excuse to snack and pick at food. Fasting is just so simple - no excuses. Once I’ve locked it in on the Fastic app then I’m not eating 🤐

Lunch had a wholemeal bagel with mayo, chicken, avocado and spinach.

picked at leftover mash and roast chicken in the fridge… had a tiny bit of banana bread with a cup of tea.

Dinner - tarka daal with spinach and a fried egg

@Queencam @greengreyblue

Yes I prefer the simplicity of fasting. Can't bend the rule of time.

Octopus45 · 23/07/2024 20:36

I agree, as of Monday morning I was 6 pounds down.TBH I'm not always choosing healthy options, but if its working overall I'm happy with that.

greengreyblue · 23/07/2024 21:24

Well done @Octopus45 !
I am now off ( work term time) so don’t have work restrictions of not eating until lunch and more temptation to hand. Should be ok as I’ve managed every weekend.

greengreyblue · 24/07/2024 18:27

Lunch- prawn salad, tbsp hummus, one apple, 8 almonds.
Dinner- lean pork skewers, bulgur wheat, homemade coleslaw using half low fat mayo and half Greek yoghurt. Satsuma
It helps me to be accountable by recording my food here
Lots of water all day, 2 espressos.

greengreyblue · 25/07/2024 08:33

Woke up and felt trimmer round the stomach so hopped on my scales. Very happy to see 64.3 kg, 141.7lbs. My scales say 10st 2 when they said 10st 4 before. It’s working! 😀
SW: 10st 6
Cw:10st 1+
TW: 9st 10

That’s brilliant. How long has that taken?

I weighed myself this morning and was really pleased to see 62.9kg. The very first weigh in before I started fasting (early June) I was 66.8kg.

So a good 4kg off!

Don’t really have a target weight but would like to get to 60kg and see how that feels. That would be 9 stone 4 - and I’m 5”3

Octopus45 · 25/07/2024 17:12

Thanks @Queencam it has taken me just over 6 weeks, when I weighed the other day though I was up 0.75 pounds, think it was too much salty food/not drinking enough water. I did want to be 4 more pounds down for my holiday, but its only two and a half weeks away, so I'm thinking 2 more pounds is more realistic. This is the easiest diet I've ever done though.

greengreyblue · 25/07/2024 18:38

Well done @Octopus45that’s a great loss. Today I’ve walked miles ( currently on 17k steps on my phone so more in reality) and kitchen now closed.
Lurch: a smoked mackerel fillet with salad and a boiled egg, an apple.
Dinner: cod and butter bean coconut curry with basmati rice. A few strawberries.

Octopus45 · 25/07/2024 18:44

Not done so well here today, a vegetarian sausage roll, an apple, a ripple bar, 4 sweet chilli Ryvita thins, calories (not really counting them) work out somewhere between 650 and 700 so far. Trying to decide what to have for dinner, I'm a bit exhausted.

greengreyblue · 27/07/2024 09:23

Went out for lunch yesterday and was v hungry as it was 1.30 by then. Had a crab topped focaccia- was tiny but just as well I’m minding portions. Food out is shrinking but prices rising! Anyway it came with a small cup of fries so I was satisfied.
Dinner was a beetroot salad and a few tbsp of leftover bulgur wheat and half a bottle of Prosecco in the garden! 😎

ComealongMartha · 27/07/2024 10:13

Hi, I started 16:8 on Monday. I’m eating around 800 calories in that time.

Tempted to be less strict at the weekend calorie wise but still not go wild.

Has anyone found it harder with less to lose? I want to lose around a stone.

I’m also torn between how often to weigh! What do others do?

greengreyblue · 27/07/2024 11:49

Hi, that’s a pretty low intake of calories. You could easily relax a bit a weekends and still lose. . I think it’s best to weighi once a week, before eating, completely naked. I do weigh in between sometimes but find it can make you downhearted if progress isn’t seen whereas if you stick to it you should see a loss each week and maybe a platteau once in a while . I want to lose 10lbs and I’m 53 and I’m pleased to have lost 5lbs in 6 weeks so far just skipping breakfast every day so probably 18:6, sometimes 17:7. I don’t count calories but it’s probably up to 1400 at weekend with wine and 1000-1200 in the week. Good luck. I’m just having a mint tea and then will have my first meal after 12

goingdownfighting · 27/07/2024 12:16

@ComealongMartha I think you're doing a Fast 800.

Everyone's different about weigh in. I weigh in most days, first thing - have a wee, brush my teeth and face, take my PJs off and weigh myself. I have got used to things fluctuating and have learnt not to react too much to it. Weight loss is definitely not linear and difficult to reason with sometimes so a big dose of faith is needed. I stop weighing if I hit a plateau - it can be soul destroying for me. But you'll find whatever works for you.

Welcome and good luck.

ComealongMartha · 27/07/2024 15:22

@greengreyblue well done! Wine is why I thought I might relax at weekends! 😂

@goingdownfighting yes, sorry. I should have said fast 800. I’ve only half read the book so no idea if I’m doing it properly. I think the daily fluctuations might be helpful for me. I’m not easily upset by the number on the scales. Maybe I’ll try daily for a while and then reconsider.

Thank you both.

Octopus45 · 27/07/2024 18:16

@ComealongMartha I weigh every few days, maybe about three times a week, although I do get tempted to weigh every day. My loss has been quite slow, 6 and a half pounds in 6 weeks, but I dont find. I started out saying I want to lose 10 pounds. If I lost a stone in total (obviously will take me a while), that would take me to 8st8, BMI 20, but not sure if I could maintain that.

ComealongMartha · 27/07/2024 18:29

@Octopus45 6 and a half pound is great. Well done. I’m a similar weight and have a similar goal.

I decided to relax with cheese and wine.

Queencam · 27/07/2024 19:11

Hello welcome fasters :)

I am a bit scattergun with weigh ins. I started checking more frequently a few weeks ago and lack of progress demotivated me. Now I’m aiming for weekly and I think that suits me better. Also find I am heavier around my period due to water retention, so avoiding weigh ins then.

This weekend we’re away staying with the in-laws and my diet has gone to shit…

greengreyblue · 28/07/2024 21:03

Lunch : mixed salad with a smoked mackerel fillet, an apple.
Dinner: roast peri peri chicken , loads of salad with mixed seeds, yoghurt dressing. a bottle of dry cider .

ComealongMartha · 30/07/2024 07:45

One week in and 2 lb down. I like this WOE!

greengreyblue · 30/07/2024 08:56

@ComealongMartha well done! Always good to get a quick loss, keeps you going. I’m away for a few days so trying to keep some semblance of routine: no breakfast, lots of steps and making healthy food choices but will be having drinks. Hope the damage won’t be too bad by Friday.

ComealongMartha · 30/07/2024 15:52

Thanks. I’m also away next week. I think food wise I can make good choices but it may not be in my window of eating and may contain wine. I won’t get to the gym as usual but will be doing a lot of steps.

greengreyblue · 31/07/2024 22:45

Hi all. Been doing ok time restriction wise. Have skipped breakfast every day and lunch has been 1.30 or later. Have had light lunches ( Spanish tortilla slice, fruit) and good evening meals that’s are not excessive. Have had wine/ beer every day and also lots of water and lots of steps- average 12k steps on my phone .

Olika · 01/08/2024 07:02

Did anybody experience change with their cycle when you started 16:8? I have been doing 16:8 since 27th June. Had my previous periods start 28th June and now nothing in July. I am def not pregnant.
