Day 1 of this adventure. I’ve got a headache but will soon be going to bed.
My eating window today was 8am-4pm. I’ve got so much to shift & hope I can keep this up. Anyone else want to join?

@Queencam there's not a chance in hell I'm giving up my wine. But I will make more effort to keep it to one glass and not half a bloody bottle! Grin

@Somethingsnappy that's really great. I'd be thrilled if I could lose 2lb a week. That to me feels like amazing progress. And yes, I'm also trying to skip any of those little things like a splash of milk in my tea during the fasting window.

Somethingsnappy · 11/07/2024 13:32

I just weighed myself and I've lost another 2lbs this week. I'm very happy with that, as it's much slower than that usually. But I'd switched from 'dirty' fasting (having milk in my tea in the fasting period) to clean fasting, cutting out the milk. So perhaps that's helped this week. That's 8 pounds so far since about mid/late April.

That’s really good! I’d definitely be happy with this level of progress too

Hi everyone, been on another thread but not much traffic. I’m 53 and not ‘overweight’ in bmi but have put on 10lbs since menopause.
5ft 5 and started on 10st 6. Ideally would like to be 9st 7 for my frame, clothes and bmi to be 22.
I’ve done 5:2 in the past and got down to 9st 2 and 8st 13 over 6mths or so. I find the 500 day hard and have a DD who is 20 and don’t want to be eating weirdly around her . So I’m doing 18:6 by skipping breakfast. I’m up and out before her so she has no idea. I eat healthily anyway so a lunch of protein with lots of veg/ salad plus an apple. Dinner is pretty healthy family meal and a moderate portion. Drinking lots of water and walking lots to get to 10k steps a day.

Hi, how's everyone getting on, I'm 5.25 pounds down in nearly 4 weeks.

SW: 9st 8
CW: 9st 2.75
TW: 8st 12

I've got three and a half weeks to go before my holiday, think 4.75 pounds in that time might be a bit hopeful, but if I lose another two or three I'll be pleased.

goingdownfighting · 18/07/2024 11:20

Hiya all, glad to see some of you are succeeding with it.

I can't remember what I last posted but I'm 132.4lb now with a starting weight of 147lb. So just over a stone off in 2.5 months.

I'm really happy with the way I look and feel - getting crepey round the eyes though.

However my BMI is still overweight so i am going to carry on fasting most days and see how much I lose.

According to the nhs website my maximum healthy BMI is 23.7 due to genetics. I was proud to nudge under 25 but apparently it's not enough. I'm trying to build fasting into my lifestyle permanently which is going ok so far but 2 months is not a lifetime so I still have a mountain to climb in that respect.

Keep going everyone!

IdLikeToBeAFraser · 18/07/2024 12:37

According to the scale, I have gained 3kg in the last week. I assume that isn't accurate. I am just giving it a day or two - I did eat, admittedly, my own body weight in sweets over the weekend as we did a lot of driving and it's so easy to just keep nibbling!

greengreyblue · 18/07/2024 16:45

That’s easily fixe @IdLikeToBeAFraser - no sweets in car! Not something I’ve ever done tbh.

great, thanks. Super helpful. I hadn't thought of that.

greengreyblue · 18/07/2024 17:10

Was just saying that’s an easy fix.

IdLikeToBeAFraser · 18/07/2024 17:25

Sorry @greengreyblue . The "Not something I've ever done" was a bit triggering. It definitely felt like, "well, you're fat because you're not as disciplined as me". And of course the theory is easy - but if it was easy, most of us wouldn't struggle with weight in the first place.

greengreyblue · 18/07/2024 18:05

Oh I didn’t mean it like that- sorry! I can see how that came across. Just talking /typing out loud. I’m not a sweet eater( so have never had to think about that- wouldn’t occur to me hence my comment) but have my own temptations( crisps and wine!) and they would not be safe on a long car journey!

greengreyblue · 18/07/2024 18:06

I try to help myself by not buying crisps as I’ll know they’re in the house. I will buy them for an occasion and tell DH not to let me eat the whole family bag!! 😂

greengreyblue · 19/07/2024 07:32

Ok so I weighed this morning. Wondering if scales are wrong(lol) as still says 10st 4. But then switched to KG to start weighing that way so I can see any sub pound losses and it said 64.8kg which is 10st 2. My scales are old, digital and the battery is hanging out , have to press it several times to get a reading. Am I deluding myself? I’m doing 18:6/17/7 every day since 20/6. Last night I played tennis for an hour and I do at least 8000 steps( phone steps so do more that are not counted) and o can’t see that I’m eating more than 1000-1200 cals a day in the week. If the kg are true I’ll be happy as that would be 4lb off.🤔

You must be losing!

I think you said before that you feel slimmer - do your clothes feel less tight?

get yourself some new scales!!

Queencam · 19/07/2024 12:38

I struggled towards the end of the fast today - but my period is due and I struggle at the best of times with endometriosis - so am glad I managed 16 hours. I feel enormous today too - hugely bloated. I’m hoping it’s cycle related water retention / endo bloat. Will wait until post period for next weigh in!

Also finding this hot weather is suppressing my appetite.

greengreyblue · 19/07/2024 16:05

Yeah I do @Queencam . I feel slimmer in my clothes so numbers should t matter. 10 2 ( the kg weight) would make more sense. Don’t expect to have lost loads but I have really stuck to this and at the weekends too. Yes this weather helps and drinking loads of water which will help. Stick with it, hormonal bloats are the worst! Off to google an Amazon deal on scales.

motheronthedancefloor · 19/07/2024 19:55

Hi I'm considering trying this but wanted to ask firstly how do you fit it around your family who all eat at different times? Eg dh may sometimes work late and we both hate having to cook multiple meals instead of waiting and eating together. DD may also be out and about so that's three meals to cook.
Also can you change your 8 hour window each day?
I just don't know how this could work for some one like me

It’s impressive you’re managing to stick with it all weekend. I’ve been having Saturdays off but back on it Sundays.

Ive got used to the hungry feeling now and quite like it. Before fasting, if I was at all hungry I’d eat something right away. Not a great way to eat / live really.

It’s a nice feeling to get to the end of a fast and look forward to what you’re going to eat - and actually enjoy it, instead of eating for the hell of it.

I eat with DH in the evening then start fasting at 1930/2000. I’ll start eating the next day somewhere between 1200-1300.

I don’t find it interferes with family meals too much. My 5 YO has asked me once why I don’t eat breakfast.

greengreyblue · 19/07/2024 22:51

Oh look, when I say I stick with it at the weekends, I mean the 18:6. I have a few glasses of wine but only have lunch and dinner. I walk more at weekends and hope that helps offset any indulgence.

greengreyblue · 20/07/2024 07:58

Ok so just weighed in lbs(143) and kg (64.8) and they match at 10st 2. In stones my scales still say 10st 4. So I’m going with 2 out of 3 readings and have ordered new acales.
SW-10st 6(?? now under question)
CW- 10st 2-143lbs/64.8kg
TW-9st 10
Yesterday-
Lunch- king prawn salad with apple.

Dinner- small rump steak and chips at pub with grilled tomatoes. 3 small glasses of wine. BUT walked 2 miles to pub and 2 miles home.

greengreyblue · 21/07/2024 13:30

Yesterday: lunch was a wholemeal pitta pizza made with tomato purée, a mozzarella mini ball and basil. One apple.
Dinner: homemade tofu pad Thai
No wine as had a headache.

Today: lunch : sourdough toast with low fat soft cheese and smoked salmon, an apple.
Dinner will be: BBq pork skewers, homemade slaw and salad.

Queencam · 21/07/2024 18:22

You’re doing really well @greengreyblue

I’ve relaxed this weekend as it’s day one of my cycle and I’m light headed / struggling as it is. Will try and get back on it tomorrow. Will weigh in after AF. Will be so disappointed if haven’t lost anything!

greengreyblue · 21/07/2024 20:10

It’s hard isn’t it. I think long term we will lose but I’m quite impatient and want to see a good loss to start with. But then I’m not willing to go without the odd glass of wine so I am unreasonable I know. Such is life. Thing is I’m 53 and eating like this in my 30s I would have dropped at least 5 lbs by now. The first time I did 5:2 ( about 17 years ago , the weight dropped quickly, then plateaued and then came off again so I’m hoping I’ll get past this slow part. Had one glass of white this afternoon. Lots of walking and gardening.

Queencam · 23/07/2024 12:06

Back on it today - coming up to 19 hours fasting and feeling pretty good for it.

Necking the mint tea!
