Day 1 of this adventure. I’ve got a headache but will soon be going to bed.
My eating window today was 8am-4pm. I’ve got so much to shift & hope I can keep this up. Anyone else want to join?

Not fish! Dish. He did this curried bean and spinach thing which looked great and nice and healthy.

IdLikeToBeAFraser · 05/11/2024 15:02

@Queencam The parenting/SEN boards have been hugely helpful for me. At that age, it's especially hard I think because the children themselves don't understand. I remember DS coming to me in about year 4 and saying, "Mum, I don't really understand because I'm in the classroom and I'm watching the teacher but I just don't seem to hear anything she's saying". It was hard, but at that point he started tounderstand that his brain works differently and he needed different tools to manage that. At 5, he ws just wondering arond not understanding why people were shouting at him!

He's not particularly hyperactive but we did find that getting him out of the house early in the day was always our best option. We'd get out early and then he was usually more chilled later in the day.

I saw that, I would be interested to hear how it goes as I also thought it looked good.

16 hours fasting for me today with a disappointing lunch to break my fast of dippy eggs and toast soldiers (but I got distracted and unintentionally hard boiled my eggs 🤣).

10K steps today and 45 mins on the exercise bike. Daal and cauliflower rice planned for dinner.

Cashew1 · 05/11/2024 16:24

18 hour fast

Lunch was fried rice with tofu, eggs, asparagus, sweetcorn and a spicy peanut sauce for lunch (tasty!)

And dinner with be overnight oats with fruit and maybe a bit of toast or something like that.

I'm afraid when you accidentally hard boil the eggs, the ONLY solution is to swap to an egg mayo sandwich! NOt great for the diet though! Grin

greengreyblue · 05/11/2024 17:08

Ooh I love egg mayo!
18 hr fast
lunch: smoked mackerel fillet and salad with a bit of hummus on my seedy cracker. Apple
dinner: just making tomato rice and turkey steak.

greengreyblue · 05/11/2024 17:51

Had some heated berries and Greek yoghurt after.😋

Cashew1 · 06/11/2024 07:52

Ok so I've decided super light meals are not the way forward for me as I just end up bingeing. Last night for example has some overnight oats but ended up also having toast, crackers, Greek yogurt and pom bears as it felt too light. So overall was more calories I feel than a normal size meal. So will put a stop to light meals I think.

Quick weigh in this morning and no real gain since before hols, result. Maybe half a pound or so up but no gain.

IdLikeToBeAFraser · 06/11/2024 08:49

@Cashew1 I totally agree - I'm not convinced that super light is the way forward. Absolutely avoid tucking in to mcdonalds big mac with a vanilla milkshake and a large fries.... but I think it's helpful to eat properly if you'r eonly eating for a limited time.

I couldn't do the fasting this morning. I do have my period so it mighe be that, but I'm a bit annoyed. There's no doubt that "properly" fasting, minimum 16 hours, is the trick. But I've been up from 6, and have so much work to do, I needed coffee and a slice of toast to fuel me.

Even 12 hours is good in my book, there was a time where that would have felt impossible for me.

23 hours and counting here! Longest ever.

greengreyblue · 06/11/2024 17:36

I agree that eating over two meals means you need to be more conscious of the macros and the micros to ensure you don’t become deficient or hungry. Im noticing the protein affect of filling me up even if I’m lower on carbs.
18 hr fast
lunch: tin of tuna mixed with Greek yoghurt and sweetcorn, salad, seedy cracker and an apple.
dinner: griddled pork fillet slices with crunchy slaw, flatbread and a few sweet potato wedges.
Heated frozen raspberries and yoghurt with chia seeds.

Cashew1 · 06/11/2024 20:25

@greegreengreyblue I always want your food but a veggie version!

23 hour fast and then had a jacket potato with cottage cheese and salad, a hot chocolate and a couple of cream cheese crackers.

Will certainly eat a bit more tomorrow.

GameOfJones · 06/11/2024 20:39

@IdLikeToBeAFraser an egg mayo sandwich would have been infinitely preferable and less dry than what I had 🤣🤣

22 hour fast for me today and OMAD of spicy peanut noodles with tofu and mixed veg. Plus a yoghurt and two celebrations chocolates.

If you do omad do you eat three meals the next day? Gin Stephens says if you do a "down" day you should follow with an up. But a down day is eating a meal of less than 500 cals only or nothing so super light

I don't eat three meals but I tend to have more calories the next day. E.g. today I'm going out for dinner with friends, so OMAD yesterday is more a way of offsetting today. I definitely have more than 500 calories when I do OMAD as I have my main meal plus a dessert (e.g. the yoghurt and some chocolate yesterday).

I am interested in alternate daily fasting but I'm just not sure I can do the 500 calories every other day. I did it on 5:2 and found it hard. But then again I was trying to spread 500 calories over two or three meals!

greengreyblue · 07/11/2024 16:27

Thanks for the compliment @Cashew1 . I’m going veggie tonight!
18 hr fast
lunch: smoked mackerel fillet with salad and seedy cracker, apple.
dinner: Spanish style beans with smoked tofu and patatas bravas.

greengreyblue · 08/11/2024 07:21

Happy Friday! Weigh day here. Finally back down to my lowest that I got to at the end of Sept / early Oct.
9st 10/ 61.7kg. So wanted to get just below so it felt like progress but will hopefully see that soon. It’s the weekend. Fireworks tonight but I’ve offered to drive so I can avoid the wine and not undo my good work.

Nice work!

Down a pound here too so 10st 11.

Body fat percentage also down which I am happy with.

Target is 10st 3 so nearly there!

Queencam · 08/11/2024 12:50

Great news on the losses! 👏🏼

Period due soon so am in hungry bloated progesterone fuelled cycle phase. Mood swing central 😅

continuing with 16 hour fasts okay and trying to eat healthily. Had a Buddha bowl type lunch with red cabbage, kale, wholemeal rice, carrot, radish chickpeas etc etc and tahini dressing. Very satisfying!

Goal for weekend is to try and avoid crisps and treats / chocolate. But will be having a glass of wine or two.

greengreyblue · 08/11/2024 16:57

Thanks. 19 hr fast today
lunch: leftover Spanish beans which was even better cold, seedy cracker, handful of mixed nuts.

dinner:lentil and veg soup with Indian spices and coconut milk . Soda bread scones with soft cheese.

greengreyblue · 09/11/2024 17:27

18 hr fast
lunch: wrap with mushrooms, fried egg and avocado with chilli sauce, an apple.
dinner: just making meatballs

Cashew1 · 09/11/2024 18:40

17 hour fast

Lunch: tofu spicy soup and pan fried greens (wagamamas with my daughter)
Dinner will be a bagel with Spanish omelette

greengreyblue · 10/11/2024 08:00

Will be doing OMAD today so fast will be about 20/21 hours as we have guests for dinner this afternoon. Roast chicken etc

GameOfJones · 10/11/2024 08:24

My period has arrived which I'm hoping explains the fact I stayed the same weight this week despite two days of OMAD.

I am HUNGRY though. Just had my black coffee but thinking it'll be a 16 hour fast today. Something with eggs for lunch and DH is planning on cooking some beef brisket on the outdoor smoker as a trial run for Christmas.

Rollergirl11 · 10/11/2024 10:10

I’ve had a VERY busy work at week this past week. In an hour earlier every day and on my feet all day and eating my lunch on the go. Exhausting but resulted in another 1lb down at 9st 10.

Then yesterday there was a big group of us celebrating assorted birthdays and we went to Drumsheds. For those who haven’t heard of it it’s an old Ikea depot in Tottenham North London that has been converted into a 15,000 capacity super-club. The events are held during the day so perfect for us oldies as means you’re home by midnight. Anyway, had the best time, danced for hours and hours. Also ended up doing OMAD as ate a big lunch from a yummy pop-up and didn’t end up eating again.

Weighed myself this morning and am a further lb down which means I have now reached my target weight of 9st 9! I am sure it’s probably water weight as must be completely dehydrated after yesterday. I would say that I will probs fluctuate up and down for a few days but I’m still sooo happy. Think I’m going to carry on until 9 st 7 and see what happens.
