Day 1 of this adventure. I’ve got a headache but will soon be going to bed.
My eating window today was 8am-4pm. I’ve got so much to shift & hope I can keep this up. Anyone else want to join?

Just had a wholemeal pita with mozzarella, tomato and basil toasted. Carrot sticks and celery and pepper with houmus. Having one glass of white wine as I’m very tired and think I’ll be asleep before 9!

If my gain is anything to go by it will come right off again when you reset. 🤞🏻
19 hr fast
lunch: other half of French lentil pouch, half an avocado sliced and some cottage cheese, an apple.
dinner: will be something with turkey steak- can’t quite gather motivation.
Big walk this morning and been sorting out cupboards which is one of my fave half term jobs. I’m easily pleased!

I love a cupboard sort out too!

Flying back tomorrow and ready to hit the fasting hard again!

GameOfJones · 01/11/2024 21:01

Thanks for the good wishes everyone.

A 21 hour fast today and poached eggs and avocado on toast for dinner but then have had some chocolate and crisps as I was still hungry. I've put my fasting timer on again for damage limitation, once I've clicked start fasting on my app I don't even contemplate eating anything else.

greengreyblue · 02/11/2024 17:31

18 hr fast
lunch: smoked mackerel fillet , chickpea salad. Apple
dinner: lean pork chilli with guacamole and yoghurt and a few air fried chips.
Going to see a band tonight in our local pub so will have a couple of G&Ts.

Cashew1 · 03/11/2024 09:08

Yesterday was an 18 hour fast

Lunch lentil salad with feta and broccoli, some blueberries and a brunch bar

Tea was pizza and salad with a two tiny bags of haribo and a hot chocolate

Back in the UK now and excited to get going again in earnest although very scared to get on the scales...

greengreyblue · 03/11/2024 09:45

Hope you had a good break @Cashew1 despite the rain. Any gain will be short lived I’m sure. I have been doing 18:6 since the end of June so 4 months and only lost 8lbs! This isn’t that great as a weight loss tool for me. It’s great for maintenance that’s for sure. I’ve had no actual loss for the last month, just fluctuations around this point. I only want to lose another 4/5 lbs. Why is it so slow??
I am well aware of other benefits and those are what keep me doing this. DH is downstairs eating a fried egg sandwich ( has never put weight on) and I’m sticking to my fasting window and actually feel really good and know I’m choosing good food but sometimes I feel a bit fed up!

Thank you, it was very relaxing.

Could this be because you don't really have much to lose? Maybe you're already at your best weight?

My BMI at 10st 12 is 23.1 so I am fine as I am really so if I don't get back down to 9st 12 I'll be ok with that as to be honest that was quite slim. But I would like to be about 10st 3 ideally.

Rollergirl11 · 03/11/2024 11:01

@greengreyblue i hear you! I had the same in that I was just fluctuating up and down 1 - 2 lbs for a solid month. I had times when I wondered why I was doing it as it’s just so slow. But I kept at it as I don’t actually find it any great hardship eating this way; it suits my lifestyle and there are all the other benefits. Then I lost 2lb in a week last week and I’ve lost a further 1lb this week. Now I am only 2lb away from my target.

I agree that I think when we don’t have that much weight to loose it is slower but I also feel like our bodies really hold on to the last few lbs but if you keep going then you’ll all of a sudden have another whoosh?

greengreyblue · 03/11/2024 11:28

Thanks. I really hope that happens @Rollergirl11 and I do know I’m not overweight

at bmi 23 @Cashew1 but it just annoys me because I eat far less than I used to and I weighed less then. I think I’m probably feeling it more this week because I’ve been home so I’m less busy in the morning. I don’t normally miss breakfast but it has been a bit trickier this weekend. I did lose 10lbs but 2 crept back on and haven’t completely gone so I’m thinking the 10lb was a fluke scale reading or I was particularly dehydrated that morning. I am carrying on for all the other reasons and at the very least it’s keeping me below 10st. Would like to get lower so I have more of a buffer. Just having a green tea after my dog walk and then I’ll eat at 12. V hungry after a few drinks and dancing last night!😆🤪

Rollergirl11 · 03/11/2024 12:15

The other thing with me is that I am tee-total so my weekends aren’t any different from my week days. I think back when I did use to drink alcohol I would find myself in a cycle of my drinking at the weekend undoing my good work during the week. Your body will burn the alcohol for fuel before using anything else so does it interfere with the fasting process? 🤷‍♀️

Ultimately it’s all a balance isn’t it. If we deny ourselves every single pleasurable thing then it becomes unsustainable and we are more likely to give up and fall off the wagon.

greengreyblue · 03/11/2024 12:24

Exactly that @Rollergirl11 and I often wonder if that would make a difference .Although when I’ve done dry January a few times I’ve lost nothing! I never drink Mon to Thurs unless I’m on holiday Not drinking today either. I’d like to not automatically drink because it’s the weekend. Hard habit to break.

greengreyblue · 03/11/2024 16:53

Lunch: poached egg with a chickpea and avo salad. Added mixed seeds . An apple and a few cashews.
dinner: just made some chicken skewers and a very hot peri peri sauce🥵, made a coleslaw and some mini roast potatoes. Satsuma. Only fizzy water and green tea today.

Queencam · 03/11/2024 19:02

Alcohol definitely has a lot to answer for for me. But I really don’t want to give it up!

It’s crept up during half term and my diet hasn’t been great; will be getting healthier next week. Might do another 24 hr fast as that triggers another weight shift for me.

Cashew1 · 03/11/2024 19:30

18 hour fast

Lunch: beans on toast with salad and hummus

Tea: porridge with Greek yogurt, jam, peanut butter, chia seeds, flaked almonds, honey

GameOfJones · 04/11/2024 16:01

18 hour fast today.

Lunch: hummus on toast with some added seeds

Dinner: aubergine parmagiana

Black coffee and water.

I've done my 10,000 steps and have been to the gym.

greengreyblue · 04/11/2024 16:22

18 hr fast
lunch: boiled egg sliced on some seed crackers that I made and they were fab. Half an avocado , blob of hummus and an apple.Have got recipe if anyone interested but they are only made of seeds, water and seasoning.
Dinner: homemade fish pie with steamed broccoli.

greengreyblue · 04/11/2024 16:27

Feeling more positive today and being back to work tomorrow will help with the routine. Realised that since I’ve been doing this I’ve had a couple of minor symptoms clear up. I was getting a niggley pain in my side at times and I often wondered about gallstones. Haven’t had that in months. Also had heel pain on waking and stepping out of bed ( plantar fasciitis?) and that’s disappeared too. Maybe coincidence but I’m claiming it as a non scale victory as well as the fact that my knee high boots are looser on the calf than they were pre spring!
New focus on prioritising protein.

Hot chocolate and a biscuit earlier

Queencam · 04/11/2024 19:03

18 hour fast.

have picked at the kids food as meals instead of making food for me. So it was homemade cottage pie at lunch and a pumpkin mushroom korma for dinner with whole grain rice.

Feel like I’m not coping with parenting them at all at the moment. It’s half term and my DH went away Saturday and I’ve had them both solo the last 48 hours. It just floors me it’s utterly relentless. 5yo with suspected ADHD and a very head strong 2yo. Send help.

greengreyblue · 04/11/2024 20:18

Oh @Queencam take it easy . Hope you get them to bed relatively early so you can have a bit of time to yourself.
@Cashew1 the crackers didn’t go down too well with DH but he’s not a seed fiend like me.

GameOfJones · 04/11/2024 20:41

@Queencam my two are a couple of years older than yours and no neurodiversity and I would find it flipping hard work having them both on my own during a school holiday. Be good to yourself and get something nice on the TV when you eventually get a moment to sit down.

You poor thing. Just a 5yo here so much easier. The 2-3y stage I found very difficult. Will you get some time to yourself when your DH is back?

IdLikeToBeAFraser · 05/11/2024 12:26

Sorry, been a bit absent. Just quickly read through - @GameOfJones good luck to your dd for her op! It's so terrifyng isn't it? The doctors and nurses will be great though I'm sure. And it was sweet of the anaesthetist to come to us after DS's operation (aged 3) to tell us that he'd done really well on the anaesthetic which we should tell any future doctors.

@Queencam god, at that age, I could barely cope if DH left for a night! I had a terrible sleeper (older, ADHD DS) and DD was great but very high maintenance. Hang in there!

Those of us slowing donw on the weight loss, it's hard isn't it? But I agree - there are other impacts on my body which are definitely there even though I haven't actually lost anything int he last month. AND... I'd say I only actually managed to fast about half the time last month. On any other diet, that level of "cheating" and I'd probably have gained back the 4.5kg I'd lost!

The other slightly odd one I noticed today/this week. I'm large breasted, always have been, and while I gain on my breasts, It's largely proportional - so skinny 20 years ago and I was a size 30/32 DD/F and now I'm 38 F/FF. But my bras had all been on the tightest fastening the last few days which I didn't think much of - it doesn't take much for that to shift plus they're old. Today I put on a particular one and was surprised to see the cup is actually a bit big! Not chronically so, but I noticed.

Perhaps this is why DH keeps insisting I'm definitely losing weight! Grin

Thank you and thanks all for your supportive messages.

2-3 is wild isn't it 😜 The meltdowns are biblical.

It's our 5 yo who is the hardest work though. He is fuelled by this inner fire of energy I can't seem to get to the bottom of. He cannot keep still, constantly moving and making noise. We are right at the start of ND journey here.

@IdLikeToBeAFraser Ah you have experience of ADHD child too xx I am going to start reading and posting more on the SEN boards to get support. It's a lot to take in at the moment. And yeah - extra challenging that my DH works away a lot. He's away about 3-4 nights a week. 💀

Queencam · 05/11/2024 14:44

Managed a 20 hour fast today anyway and feel good for it!
Had leftover cottage pie for lunch.

Tonight planning to make a Jamie Oliver haricot bean fish he did on the new Fast and Simple series.
