Day 1 of this adventure. I’ve got a headache but will soon be going to bed.
My eating window today was 8am-4pm. I’ve got so much to shift & hope I can keep this up. Anyone else want to join?

Well done @Queencam ! Always good to hear good news.I am not sensing a loss either though it’s weigh day tomorrow but I hopped on the other day and was 3lbs up! Pretending I didn’t see it.
18 hr fast
lunch: chicken salad with a little bulgur wheat.Apple
dinner: 2 chicken thighs, half an avocado, cottage cheese, beetroot.Pear.

Cashew1 · 24/10/2024 19:47

17 hour fast today
Hummus and salad on toast
Chilli and oven chips for tea

20 yesterday
Big salad for lunch with broccoli and halloumi
Pumpkin soup with crackers for tea

I don't think I'll see movement on the scales either but all of my clothes are feeling good!

Am 10st 12 and 173cm tall.

I put a pair of jeans on today that fit me at 9st 12 and they did up?! Tight and I wouldnt wear them at current weight but that has to be some sort of progress!

IdLikeToBeAFraser · 24/10/2024 20:37

Thanks both. I'm trying not to be too disheartened, but i think it's the fact that while I'ms till definitely not as "fat" as before, I'm not feeling "thin" if that makese sense.

Have a really busy weekend and while obviously that means more food and booze, it also means more movement. Which I know is a good thing!

I am feeling really down. Have had a good week, managed all my fasting and while I'm not obsessively eating tiny portions, it has not been a gluttonish week.... and this morning I'm back to 2kg over my previous low. I don't seem to have saved when I had got down to almost the same but it's really quite demoralising. I'm pleased to see that 4 days ago I felt thinner because I don't actually feel thinner today so maybe there's some water retention or something going on. It's just a bit demoralising, I have to say.

Sorry to hear you're feeling really down. I'm finding this a very slow journey, and I think that's ok. Have you tried weighing over the week and taking an average instead of one day? Or getting fat percentage scales? I have found they show the progress much better

IdLikeToBeAFraser · 24/10/2024 20:48

@Cashew1 I think the reason I'm feeling especially down is because until now, even when my weight fluctuated, I still felt thinner. It was so obvious in my body. But I'm just not feeling that today.

Having said that, I have found previously that when my weight pops up, it's worth checking again in a day or two and see what happens. So I'll try that and see where I get to.

greengreyblue · 25/10/2024 07:58

Weigh day and as expected I’m up.
Oct 4 th 61.7 kg( lowest)
Oct 12th- 62kg
Oct 25-62.3kg!!
wth? I have stuck to my fasting window. No drinks Mon to Thurs apart from one night a few weeks ago. Basically I’m where I was a month ago!

Totally agree, it can fluctuate back down quickly, so fingers crossed for you.

Down half a pound here and also down 0.3% body fat.

Slow and steady wins the race!

IdLikeToBeAFraser · 25/10/2024 10:26

Well, I weighed myself this morning... back down to my previous low. So 2kg loss in one day! hahahaha. I still don't "feel" thinner, but am pleased.

I'm increasingly thinking that I should only weigh myself after day 21 of my cycle. It's just all over the place the rest of the time and that's the only time I actually seem to lose any weight. So that's the key week, the rest of the time just ignore it?!

Will see how I go this week. Last month in this week I lost less than 1kg so I reall yhope I can do a bit better this time. Even just 1kg would be good. Tricky through as we have birthdays and entertaining over the next few days!

Queencam · 25/10/2024 11:51

Can’t understand that @greengreyblue your diet always looks very healthy and non fattening. Hopefully it’s just a blip and next weigh will show another drop. Have you tried a 24 hour fast at all? Appreciate its not for everyone but to use an awful work phrase it moves the needle for me.

Queencam · 25/10/2024 11:53

@IdLikeToBeAFraser okay great it’s back down but that is mad! Shows you can’t always trust the scales??? Maybe some kind of water retention going on. My weight fluctuates depending on my cycle too. I don’t weight when I have PMS or on my period. So basically need to weight in the second week of my cycle only!

Queencam · 25/10/2024 11:54

Nice one on the jeans @Cashew1 those non scale victories are sweet. Also I love pumpkin soup! Did you make it?

Thank you!

Yes I did make it, it's just roasted squash, sweet potato and onion, then blended with stock and seasoning. Lovely with some greek yoghurt and chilli flakes on top!

Woah, dodgy scales maybe?

IdLikeToBeAFraser · 25/10/2024 13:10

No, I don't think it's the scales. My weight has always fluctuated massively any relatively short time period, and I have experienced this with every scale I've ever had - I assume linked to hormones and/or my PCOS and/or water retention etc? Interestingly, this didn' thappen so much when I was pregnant so I think it is the PCOS - I'm the only woman I know who lost significant weight, slowly but steadily, while pregnant, which I always assumed was because the insulin resistance disappeared while pregnant.

The fluctuations for me can even be just over the day - I know everyone would expect to weigh a bit more over the day but mine can fluctuate massively so I only ever weigh first thing in the morning so that, at least, is consistent. As a rule, the spikes tend to be dramatic, and go away quite quickly though. Like yesterday! Grin

I really hope it drops. I’m wondering if my portions have crept up slightly and I have felt hungrier in the evening so may have loosened the carb strings as I’d ( thought) reached my I goal target but I still don’t think it’s a couple of pound’s worth. Will keep plodding on. I have done 24 hr fasts but they have left me a bit constipated. Will see how I go and maybe do one this half term as I’m off now for a week. Extra long dog walks should help.

Really hope this happens to me! Though I’m period free due to meno, but funnily enough have had very tender boobs this last week so maybe I’ve had a hormone surge.🤔

Apparently that happened to Posh Spice too- she had PCOS.

I listened to Mindy's interview yesterday and she was talking about how fasting can stop weight loss and you end up gaining weight. She is saying you should wary fasting.
Here's the interview.

greengreyblue · 26/10/2024 08:43

Will have a listen.
Yesterday I did an 18 hr fast.
lunch: mackerel salad, apple
dinner: Indian restaurant and shared a chicken tandoori, Goan fish curry, sag aloo and pilau rice. Portions weren’t big but was delicious. Went to see a band and had 3 gin and diet tonics. Trying to avoid wine!

greengreyblue · 26/10/2024 10:15

Just had a listen to that. Didn’t mention missing it up. Maybe a different podcast?

Have discovered Yorkshire Provender are doing these “jacket toppers” pots - similar to their soups but smaller and more substantial. Had the haricot beans one today for lunch it was so good! Had it with half an avocado and some whole grain rice.
only 15.5 hour fast today - got the kids solo 🫠🫠

Cashew1 · 27/10/2024 07:15

I am on a half term break in Spain now so the question is, continue to fast on an 18:6 basis or give it some flex?

greengreyblue · 27/10/2024 08:12

Oh fabulous @Cashew1 enjoy your break. That’s a hard one. I have continued with skipping breakfast each time I have been away but been more flexible in what I’ve eaten and it seemed to limit the damage but don’t be too hard on yourself.

greengreyblue · 27/10/2024 08:15

Yesterday I did a 17 hr fast
lunch: a fried egg with avocado and salad, an apple.
dinner: chilli with brown rice and guacamole and some youghurt. Had several glasses of wine. I really need to ditch the weekend drinking. It’s just a mindset. Don’t even think about it in the week!
