Day 1 of this adventure. I’ve got a headache but will soon be going to bed.
My eating window today was 8am-4pm. I’ve got so much to shift & hope I can keep this up. Anyone else want to join?

100g of flour! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Ha ha I was wondering if you meant 199!

20 hour fast

Courgette pancakes
Dinner will be a sandwich

greengreyblue · 08/10/2024 18:42

@IdLikeToBeAFraser Yes I think I tuned in for that and they put another one of his on- fast and simple or something but that just about sums up my cooking !

GameOfJones · 08/10/2024 21:31

An 18 hour fast today.

Lunch of avocado, chilli and poached eggs on flatbread.

Dinner of bran flakes, raspberries and some chopped walnuts.

IdLikeToBeAFraser · 09/10/2024 11:13

@greengreyblue Will have to search. I do feel that Jamie is practically the reason I'm a fairly good cook these days! Grin

Am really pleased to have had a good first week of my cycle and am now down another 0.5kg! I weighed because while putting on my "winter yoga" kit yesterday, I realised it was fitting very differently. which I'm actually more excited about than the 0.5kg!

The hormone imbalance seems to be less of an issue this month, so I'm enjoying seeing some actual loss. I hope it lasts. Yesterday I was hungrier and snacked more during the day, but was able to have a very light supper. So that feels like real progress.

GameOfJones · 09/10/2024 14:49

20 hours for me today, but I'm out with my sister for dinner and drinks tonight so will be a shorter fast tomorrow. Hopefully it all balances out, I like to think I'm tricking my body into not getting too used to a specific routine 🤣

Lunch was rye toast with hummus and some toasted pine nuts and pumpkin seeds. I'm trying to aim for 30 plants a week as I have been in a bit of a rut with the same lunches and dinners. That makes it harder to get variety in when I only have two meals a day. Dinner probably won't be too healthy but I'll make sure it contains some vegetables!

Wahhoooo well done @IdLikeToBeAFraser

Also a big Jamie Oliver fan here!

I am nearly 20 hours in to a 24 hours fast. Feeling pretty strong! Went for walk at lunch time to keep my mind off food and my head out the fridge. Have drank water, black coffee and black tea only.

Am very happily thinking about something yummy tonight to break fast!

Cashew1 · 09/10/2024 17:42

Just a 15 hour fast today and a normal day of eating as inadvertently ended up doing a 500 cal day yday!

One egg on toast
Falafel salad
Bean wrap and crisps

Bit of a treat day. Didn't enjoy the breakfast to be honest, thought I would really like eating early but it felt strange.

Weighing in at 10st 12 now so overall an 8lb loss!

greengreyblue · 09/10/2024 18:35

Ooh that Jamie recipe looks good 👀

Well done on the weight loss @Cashew1 😁

Breaking 24 hour fast here with white beans and leeks in Romesco sauce with a pan fried cod fillet on top 👌🏼

greengreyblue · 09/10/2024 19:42

Ooh that sounds worthy of your fast @Queencam . Well done!
Re Jamie, I do like cooking but get fed up of thinking what to cook so I love his recipes as they’re usually straightforward. I didn’t have cabbage so used broccoli but DH and DD 20 enjoyed it.

IdLikeToBeAFraser · 11/10/2024 10:34

Yesterday I didn't fast at all for the first time in months. Was quite a strange feeling. Interestingly, even though I started eating early (9:30) and went out for dinner, I definitely felt like I didn't over indulge or need to eat as much as I would have previously over a "normal" day, so taht was good.

Had the first moment of really feeling my weight loss too. I was rushing for the train and had to run. I've done the emergency dash down the footpath from my house to the station many many times when rushing for a train but it felt really different. Less difficult, I was less out of breath, and I did it for longer. I'm not intrinsically any fitter but, as DH pointed out, it's like I've had a 4.5kg backpack removed from my back, so of course I could run a bit further and faster with less effort. Very reassuring!

back to it today. I've got bread in the breadmaker that should finish in time for my window opening at around 12:00/1230. Can't wait! (although might be difficult to restrain myself in terms of quantity - haven't done fresh bread in AGES).

GameOfJones · 11/10/2024 10:58

A 16 hour fast for me yesterday.

Lunch was hummus and oatcakes.

Dinner was roasted vegetable cous cous and feta.

I'm aiming for a 24 hour fast today. Dinner is cajun halloumi pasta with onions and peppers and I'll have a piece of fruit for a dessert.

Queencam · 11/10/2024 11:58

@IdLikeToBeAFraser its such a good feeling when you notice it. Enjoy your fresh bread!

good luck with 24 hours @GameOfJones . It’s nice knowing what you’ll eat to break fast - that helped keep me going.

I felt much hungrier yesterday after the 24 hr fast. Managed 16 hours yesterday, had leftover beans and leeks for lunch, picked at the kids wholemeal veggie pasta and had a Fit kitchen Thai green curry with rice for dinner. Went to the pub and had a few glasses of wine so kitchen didn’t close until 10pm. Really hungry today already - not going to make 16 hours I don’t think.

DD has been up in the night all week with high temps so it’s been a lot of broken sleep 🤪 I think that makes me hungrier too. Craving comfort food!

IdLikeToBeAFraser · 11/10/2024 12:03

@Queencam i read somewhere years ago that one of the biggest barriers to weight loss is tiredness. Because it's so difficult to keep moving, you constantly want quick fixes for energy boosts etc, plus your body is in distress. I think that's completely true.

I really do feel this type of IF is working for me, but I also am not oblivious to the fact that I'm now a year into taking HRT with the positive knock one effects of that, not least of which is being less tired becuase I sleep better as well as not constantly being in a weird cycle of crazy symptoms, iron deficiency etc. I feel strongly that this is helping me to stick to the IF, and to do it well.

I have a friend of a similar age and size who is resisting HRT as she feels her symptoms aren't bad enough and she's been trying to do IF but just can't get it. I suspect it's because she's exhausted and stressed and overwhelmed in a way that I am not feeling as much any more.

greengreyblue · 11/10/2024 12:14

Sounds like a win with the train run @IdLikeToBeAFraser ! I’m a post meno who is NOT on Hrt and I have lots of energy so it’s different for every woman.
No loss this morning but that’s ok. I’m slightly constipated this week, not sure why so I might re weigh in a day or two. 😉

greengreyblue · 11/10/2024 12:23

@Queencam booze and lack of sleep are a recipe for cravings! Tread carefully. Soup could be filling , comforting and not too bad a choice.

Cashew1 · 11/10/2024 18:12

20 hour fast

Broccoli soup
And tea will be maybe porridge

Jeans I am wearing which didn't fit when I bought a few months ago are falling down, so something is going well!

greengreyblue · 11/10/2024 18:39

That’s a great non scale victory@Cashew1 !
19 hr fast today.
lumch: leftover roasted veg and bulgur wheat with an egg.An apple.
diinner: mashed avo on sourdough with chilli sauce.
A couple of glasses of wine.

Octopus45 · 11/10/2024 19:18

Well done @Cashew1 sounds as if you are doing amazingly. @IdLikeToBeAFraser totally agree about sleep, think that's what led to me gaining weight after I went on Tamoxifen. That said, I've been very hungry this week and have only managed to get to 12 without eating a couple of times, normally I manage a bit longer. I've also noticed that I'm more tired and hungry when I'm working from home. I'm a freelance merchandiser so often out and aboout, which is definitely better for me in terms of exercise and energy levels. Weighed 8st11 this morning, but have just eaten chippy fish and chips. I'm looking at the bigger picture though, there are always going to be difficult hungry days when I eat too much, as long as the general trend is downwards I dont care.

greengreyblue · 11/10/2024 19:30

8st 11 is tiny!!! What height are you?

greengreyblue · 12/10/2024 18:00

Had a 20 hr fast today as was at an event and didn’t eat until 2.
lunch: chicken gyros and really enjoyed it as was v hungry.
dinner: will be grilled salmon, stir fried broccoli and mushrooms with rice. Glass of wine or two.
walked over 12000 steps today. DH is away so I’m on solo dog duty plus walked a lot around event.
