Day 1 of this adventure. I’ve got a headache but will soon be going to bed.
My eating window today was 8am-4pm. I’ve got so much to shift & hope I can keep this up. Anyone else want to join?

Happy Friday!

greengreyblue · 04/10/2024 19:46

Weigh day! 🎉
I’m at my first target finally.
SW: 10st 6 late June
CW: 9st 10
Revised TW: 9st 7 /bmi 22
Pleased as I’ve barely done any steps this week because of my back. Last couple of nights it’s been a short walk holding on to DH. Now I’m at target I said I’d review as I suspected 9st 7 is where I want to be and I can see that will be a good weight for me and get back to what I used to do which was when I got to 9st 10, take steps to get back down.

Well done!!

20 hour fast
Lunch: broccoli soup with baguette
Dinner: lentil and paneer curry with some crackers
Snack: chocolate rice cake with peanut butter

greengreyblue · 05/10/2024 10:41

Got a family occasion today so I will be eating about 2pm inwards so won’t eat tonight . Will be drinking too.. That’s when this way of eating comes into its own as it’s so flexible.

Cashew1 · 06/10/2024 09:47

Yesterday was a 19 hour fast

Lunch was a taco salad
Dinner was cereal with marmite toast and some cheese crackers

Ate dinner quite late so will be a shorter fast today

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend!

greengreyblue · 06/10/2024 10:10

16 hr fast
One meal yesterday and not until about 3.30. Had a few glasses of wine before so not a fast as such.
So I needed to eat at 9.30 this morning as a bit hungover and didn’t eat that much yesterday.
Had a breakfast wrap of avocado and fried egg with hot sauce and mushrooms. Won’t eat until this evening.

Queencam · 06/10/2024 13:38

No change in weight - am still 62.6kg, same as last weigh in.

Feel okay about it - ate quite a bit yesterday celebrating family birthdays . But it’s frustrating considering how much I’ve fasted!

weekends seem to let me down. And I have also got into the habit of milk in coffee during fasts which is not really true fasting. Need a renewed commitment I think to see the weight drop again!

Queencam · 06/10/2024 13:39

Also listening to Mindy Peltz - she talks about how stubborn the weight loss can be for women particularly. She touches on our body adapting to a certain length of fast and finding a way to maintain weight. To accelerate weight loss she recommends varying fast lengths - i.e throwing in the odd long one, like a 24 or even 48 hour fast.

I can’t imagine managing 48 hours…

GameOfJones · 06/10/2024 14:16

@Queencam I can't imagine 48 hours either. Although I did 26 hours this week and felt I could go longer but it has taken some building up to. I think the Gin Stephens "clean" fast has made all the difference in me being able to do some longer fasts.

Maybe if I timed it so I was going to bed shortly after the 24hr fasting mark and would be asleep when I was extending my fast I could do it.

greengreyblue · 06/10/2024 15:44

I think patience is key. Just fasting will not mean weight loss. There has to be some calorie deficit. I find some of Mindy Pelz’s stuff a bit dangerous. I mean yeah let’s all starve ourselves! I worry about getting nutrients so u don’t really fancy those long fasts.

I’ve done one 24 hours and found it manageable. I’m not sure I would sleep that hungry - to stretch it out longer!

yeh agreed it seems a bit extreme

greengreyblue · 07/10/2024 07:46

Though I had breakfast yesterday at 9.30ish ( first meal before 12 since late June!!) still only had 2 meals. That’s the key for me and weight loss. So today back to skipping breakfast and will be a 19 hr fast.
Full of cold today today and luckily zero appetite. Happy Monday everyone! 🥴

IdLikeToBeAFraser · 07/10/2024 09:52

I am on day 5 post period starting and my weight has only crept up by 0.3kg so that feels like a huge win right there, not least because we had a couple of cocktails on Friday and over saturday/Sunday I drank 3/4 of a bottle of red wine. (the first month it bounced up almost 2kg, the second month 1kg). Touch wood, so far I haven't had the "must eat everything in sight" phase of the first part of my cycle either so here's hoping that continues as it's often these first two weeks when too much of the weight comes back on that makes me lose slower overall.

I am definitely wondering if there's a more cumulative or longer-term, positive hormone effect so that will be interesting to see over say 6-12 months.

GameOfJones · 07/10/2024 12:53

An 18 hour fast for me today.

Lunch - poached eggs and avocado on sourdough, plus a few walnuts

Dinner - prawn and butterbean saganaki

greengreyblue · 07/10/2024 16:00

Had to look up saganaki- never heard of it but I make similar things so it’s good to have a name for it!
19 hr fast
lunch: salad with a few chickpeas and a couple of cold roasted new potatoes. An apple
dinner: lean kofte with flat breads and roasted veg with a dollop of yogurt and mint .
Early night for me I think, feeling rough with cold but my back is all good.

Cashew1 · 07/10/2024 17:57

Saganaki is one of my favourites! I do it with tomatoes and feta and chilli

19 hour fast here and some satay noodles so far

greengreyblue · 07/10/2024 17:59

I made my own flatbreads(just the yoghurt and flour ones) and they were so nice.

GameOfJones · 08/10/2024 08:09

I'd never made saganaki before....it was a recipe in the Waitrose free newspaper. Really quick and easy and was a hit with everyone so it's definitely one I'll make again!

@greengreyblue I keep meaning to try making those flatbreads in a bit to cut out more UPF. I'll have to give it a go.

Back to DDs' clubs night tonight so I'm going to try eating dinner early around 4pm again as it made it so much easier last week than having to rush some dinner down later on in the evening once we're back. Luckily DDs get a hot main meal at lunchtime at school so I'll probably do something quick like beans on toast for them once we're home.

Have you got a recipe for the quantities?

Half a pound down here, slow and steady wins the race 😅

greengreyblue · 08/10/2024 16:05

Yes it’s a Jamie Oliver recipe. For 2 flatbreads it’s
199g plain flour to 4 tbsp yoghurt plus salt. Mix , knead then divide and rolls out with extra flour as sticky. Dry fry for 2-3 mins each side. Optional to brush with butter after.
Well done on loss.
18 hr fast
lumch: roasted courgette, cannelini bean, feta salad, an apple
dinner ; chicken tikka skewers with rice and coconut salsa and an h dian salad.

greengreyblue · 08/10/2024 16:35

100g of flour! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Edited

I do a jamie one but mine has a bit of olive oil too?

I get quite frustrated. I clearly am not a pastry chef. Dh, who can barely fry an egg... makes these and they come.out fluffy and perfect. When I do it, they are often a but chewy. V annoying! 😆😆😆😆

greengreyblue · 08/10/2024 16:53

Mine had a bit of chew, I think from the yoghurt. Shop bought ones do too.
I watched JO make them on his show this autumn. Think there a few different ways to make them . Loved the simplicity and obviously good to get the yoghurt( protein and calcium) in there. Loving Jamie this autumn. The coconut chutney I’m making is from the show last night. I love anything coconut.

Yes, love a bit of Jamie overall. Still don't think I am good with pastry though! 😆😆

What show is on currently? I watched "what to eat now" but that is finished I thought?
