Good luck @vestastilly!

I've been trying to cook ahead and have made the chocolate granola from the book but it's so delicious that I'm having to stop myself from just scoffing it all!

Salmon kebabs were lush
Dp loved them too
One to do again . My dd kindly finished my birthday chocolates too so temptation has been removed

LotsOfTrees · 06/06/2021 19:52

Great to have you with us @vestastilly! Glad you enjoyed the salmon kebabs @MercedesBenz

Weigh in this morning. I lost 3 lbs in week 8. That means I’ve lost 33lbs in 8 weeks and have gone from a BMI of 34.2 to 29.2. On to week 9!

KiwiDramaQueen · 07/06/2021 07:40

Hello, I’m thinking of starting this.

I’m 40, 170cm and 74kg, so about 4kg over a healthy BMI. I’d like to get back to close to 60kg but tbh would probably be happy with 65kg. At my lightest I’ve been 58 but that was a very long time ago and I’ve not been near 65 for the past ten years so 60 is perhaps unrealistic.

Is anyone else in here a similar height with similar weight loss goals? How has it been for you?

There are so many stories on here with everyone at very different starting points :) And losing weight is easier when you’re younger so if there is anyone else here 40 ish who has had success that would be great to hear!

BoredOfCbeebies · 07/06/2021 07:51

Morning all! I've just started this diet, on day 2. BMI is nearly 30, and after have gestational diabetes, I'm concerned I'm at risk of full blown diabetes. Hoping to to lose at least two stone.
I've planned this week's meals from the fast 800 easy recipe book, just eaten the homemade granola, now nothing until spaghetti Bolognese this evening!

MercedesBenz · 07/06/2021 07:52

@LotsOfTrees
Great news ! You are doing so well ! 33lb in 8 weeks , fabulous !

BoredOfCbeebies · 07/06/2021 07:55

@KiwiDramaQueen I think we're fairly similar. I'm 41, 163cm and 78kg. I would also like to be 60-65 kg, although probably haven't been that since late twenties. It's just gradually piled on over the years

Movealongmovealong · 07/06/2021 08:11

Woohooo ! First week done and despite desperately wanting to - have avoided weighing myself until today. I have lost 6.75 lb in one week ! best of all, I have not felt remotely deprived. In fact I don't think I have eaten as well for years.

By eating proper meals rather than grazing on crap, my veg intake has massively increased to the point where I am (probably for the first time) eating my 5 a day and eating a good portion of protein keeps hunger at bay.

My motivation levels are sky high!

I'm in my late forties. I am down six pounds since I started nine days ago. Good luck!

Wow , well done !

LotsOfTrees · 07/06/2021 08:38

Fantastic results @Movealongmovealong and @IsFuzzyBeagMise! Such incredible motivation to keep going.

I have more to lose than you @KiwiDramaQueen but I’m in my 40s.

Movealongmovealong · 07/06/2021 08:47

Thank you guys .. it's made for a happy Monday. I am 58 and slim my entire life until the menopause. Then for some reason it all went wrong and I piled on the weight from 72 Kg (5'7) to 93Kg. Over the last 8 years. I have done weight watchers and slimming world countless times but nothing worked. I would lose 2 lb after a week of starvation, only to give in and put it back on and more a week later. I always felt hungry and miserable.
This is actually a diet I really enjoy . .

My secret to making it work is 'planning'. I work out my meal plan for the week and do a once a week shop ensuring I have all the stuff I need and can't fall into the 'oh shit , I don't have that - I'll just eat this (junk) instead' trap. I then cook a double portion of an evening meal and freeze it. So there is no danger of coming back from work and eating rubbish because I'm too tired to cook.
By preempting my own terrible habits of self justification for eating badly, I really hope to crack this.

MaudesMum · 07/06/2021 08:59

Well, on the bright side, I've lost another 3lbs, meaning that I only need to lose another lb to make my target of losing a full stone in a month by this coming Friday. On the other hand, having just checked the BMI calculator, I really need to lose another stone and a half after that to get out of 'obese' and into 'overweight' - I've got a solid/well-built frame so realistically I'm unlikely to get out of that category however hard I try! I'm enjoying the food, and my stomach has definitely adapted to sensible portion sizes, an overnight break of over 12 hours, and LOTS of vegetables, but I am missing the occasional glass of wine!

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 07/06/2021 09:00

It sounds like you have cracked it, Movealongmovealong. My downfall is sugary snacks between meals. They are gone now.
I'm in perimenopause. No major symptoms other than my cycle going out of whack. I really want to sort out my eating habits and my weight before I go into menopause.

MaudesMum · 07/06/2021 09:08

And, yes with @Movealongmovealong on the need to meal plan, and making sure there's something in the freezer. I've got two evening events this week and knowing I'll get home at 8.30-ish and be able to get something healthy to eat really quickly is v. helpful. In the past it would have been cheese on toast.. Oh, and @KiwiDramaQueen - I'm 60, so its definitely achievable for those of us who are older (not that 40 is old from where I'm sitting!).

KiwiDramaQueen · 07/06/2021 09:55

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Have any of you tried doing it just Monday to Friday?

Most of our weekends over the next couple of months are booked up with events - we've recently moved and don't know anyone locally so weekends are our opportunities to see friends and family. We've got housewarming bbqs etc planned with various friend groups. It's also been a tough couple of months and I'm worried that it will be just too hard to restrict myself from the social aspect of sharing food with friends on the weekends (an activity that does my soul good which I really need right now!) I worry that if I'm trying to maintain 800 on the weekends I'll hard fall off the wagon hard each time and it will dent my resolve. As opposed to just deciding the weekends are free days without going too crazy.

:)

I get the impression from reading the book that you should be consistent in the initial phase of rapid weight loss (2-12 weeks) and introduce two fast days after that. Is there any way of socialising within the plan? Personally, I would do that or delay starting it.
MaudesMum · 07/06/2021 11:03

@KiwiDramaQueen I did three social events involving eating and drinking over the last month, and managed reasonably well on two of them (good menu choices, restricting the booze) but really fell off the wagon for one of them! My only advice would be to try and swerve the carbs, as otherwise you have to go through the whole process of getting used to cutting them out each week, which would be a pain (and probably not very good for your body). Good luck!!

Polkadotties · 07/06/2021 12:40

Well I posted a few weeks ago saying I was back on it, and umm well that didn’t really happen.
Anyway, I am back on It from today! Weighed in this morning at 13st8 at 5ft6 that gives me a BMI of 30.6 so just into the obese category.

MercedesBenz · 07/06/2021 16:26

Near miss today , out shopping , it was busy and I couldn’t find anywhere that served salads
Mac Donald’s was calling !
Ran to boots got a pkt of chicken pieces 100 cal , diet drink , low fat crisps 95 cal
Ok it wasn’t perfect and nothing towards 5 a day
But crisis avoided , so I’m still on track today .

I notice how many of you plan your weeks meal , I am going to do that later
Like pp said , it stops that oh nothing in , I’ll have to eat …. Insert relevant unhealthy food here

JaquelineSequinWindmachine · 07/06/2021 19:46

Celeriac fries done in the air fryer tonight! So good DH kept pinching them.

LotsOfTrees · 07/06/2021 20:37

Probably our favourite tonight - sausage and courgette ‘lasagna’ with salad. Reminds me of a recipe my mum used to make.

And I’m watching episode 2 of Mosley’s 21 Day Turn Around on Channel 4 tonight.

vestastilly · 07/06/2021 21:50

3 days in and I’m starting to realise that I have bought way too much of everything. Cooking and making recipes from the diet plan in the book is great but I have 2 different coloured cabbages of which I have used an 8th of each! The recipe also wanted 25g of haloumi and I couldn’t face opening a packet for that so just added some blue cheese. Having read through the 2 recipe books I see you can just have a salad with protein so will be doing that more next week! Loving all the main meals though and DH and kids loving them too.
