Morning! Am starting Fast800 today. Anyone care to join me?
Any tips from those who have done it before?
I’ve only been up 2 hours and all I’ve thought about is food so far! I’m surprised how often I think about it!

The headaches are killing me! I'm drinking loads, getting salt. How long do they last?

RedHotChiliChips · 05/01/2021 22:42

I just realised this thread is for Fast800 starting today, sorry! But yes, much to my surprise I have really enjoyed this WOE and 12 weeks have flown by.

I have really loved most of the woods, my palate and taste has expanded massively, I've discovered amazing things like harissa and tenderstem broccoli Grin And actually, I've done 5:2 rather than 800 cal every day as that's what the online assessment recommended me. I've still lost 10kg and 12cm from my waist. I only had 6 kg to lose to get into healthy range BMI but my waist was massive and I had also started to exhibit pre-diabetes (mellitus?) signs on my body. My DM and both DGM have all had/have Type 2 Diabetes so I had to act, especially being perimenopausal.

RedHotChiliChips · 05/01/2021 22:43

foods ffs! Don't eat wood please Grin

JaquelineBeanstalk · 06/01/2021 06:45

Day 3 here. I’ve committed to daily weighing just to keep on track, plus it synchs with my Fitbit. Which died on me last night just before I got to 10,000 steps!

Yesterday’s food wasn’t as planned, but it was ok. Planning really is key for me, so today

B leftover omelette from last night
L broccoli blue cheese soup ( from the freezer, that will be lunches for the rest of the week)
D prawn fried cauli rice

The new “ easy” cook book is on its way, I shall have a good look through it for inspiration.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 06/01/2021 08:28

I am tracking on MFP but it is getting upset with 800 calls and giving me dire war songs Confused (think it only allows 1200 as a minimum)

TheWayOfTheWorld · 06/01/2021 08:29
Hmm

800 cals
Dire warnings

Orangeblossom77777 · 06/01/2021 08:42

Hi there hope it is Ok to join? I'm going to have a couple of protein shakes 230 cals each and then eat dinner in the evenings as usual. Veg soup for lunch as well. Which adds up to around 800 cals.

Then we have one exercise outside atm which will be a walk I guess uphill some days. Going to try this as a way of getting through the next few weeks. Best of luck to others.

DoctorYang · 06/01/2021 09:12

Thought I'd share yesterday's food. Finding this easier than I expected! I'm now on day 3, won't weigh til Monday.

I started yesterday. 7lbs down on the scales this morning!Shock
I know I was very bloated and felt so heavy, plus I stared my period last night.
Obviously I’m not going to get the same result tomorrow

DoctorYang · 06/01/2021 11:26

Wow Polka! That's amazing.

Foundmyfeet · 06/01/2021 12:16

@Polkadotties - that's incredible! Well done! I weighed myself this morning and have lost more, so since Saturday I have dropped 5lbs.

The down side it that I'm very moody with it. I had a meltdown last night over the electric meter! I know it's just my body adjusting to the changes and will level out....sooner rather than later I hope!

@DoctorYang - your meals look delish! Thanks for sharing.

@RedHotChiliChips and @TheWayOfTheWorld- I burst out laughing at your typo's!

Hi @Orangeblossom77777 - best of luck to you also!

Orangeblossom77777 · 06/01/2021 13:40

Thanks, have so far had two shakes and some miso soup and a highlights hot choc. (it was a bit cold so soup etc was warming)

fluffydinosaur · 06/01/2021 16:30

Hello, can I join too? I've just started on Monday so on day 3 now. A bit worried to hear that the calorie counts from the website are a bit dubious.. I am planning the halloumi, red peppers and rice for dinner tonight but when I put the individual ingredients into MFP it is way over - I thought maybe it was a typo on the cheese quantity! I've now halved the amount of cheese which makes it only a little over, but this has me concerned for some of the other recipes! how can you be strict if the calorie counts aren't accurate?

TheWayOfTheWorld · 06/01/2021 18:06

@Foundmyfeet unhelpfully I can't quite remember exactly but I think I was on 1 tsp for a couple of weeks or so and then went up to 1 tbsp Confused

JaquelineBeanstalk · 06/01/2021 18:45

MFP only shouts at you if you press “ close diary” so don’t do that, all your records are still there.

Any calorie counts given in a recipe book are only an estimate. But yeah, some of the figures given in the f800 recipe book don’t match up to inputting ingredients on MFP. I’m not sure if the book counts ignore the so-called “free” veg ( I don’t, I like a full history of what I’ve had so I can trace eg digestive issues)

Dh loved the cauli rice nasi goreng, will be marked as a family favourite!

Polkadotties · 06/01/2021 19:29

We had the chicken Parmesan goujons for dinner tonight. They will lovely, definitely going to be a regular meal!

Oo those sound right up my street - is this in the separate recipe book?

I am combining this with 16:8 so I today I had:

  • lunch: 2 boiled eggs with a slice of rye bread (sneider brot)
  • dinner: panfried chicken breast with sautéed asparagus and mushrooms (used a bit of butter for that, carefully weighed out!)
Polkadotties · 06/01/2021 19:48

Yes @TheWayOfTheWorld it’s from the recipe book. I had a some broccoli with it and I’m properly full up

DoctorYang · 06/01/2021 20:25

Day 3 done for me

Breakfast - sliced apple, cottage cheese & cinnamon, 219 cals
Lunch - leftover braised turmeric chicken with courgette & mushrooms - 265 cals
Dinner - Beef stir-fry, 307 cals

I am following the meal plan that the website has given me, will do that again next week then start creating my own.

Dinkydody · 06/01/2021 21:17

Hey, have you given up caffeine as well by any chance ? 🤔😊

CoffeethenCrochet · 06/01/2021 23:14

Congrats @Polkadotties

This morning I weighed in at 1.9kg down since I started back on Monday. Struggled this evening, but made myself a cuppa with a splash of milk to stop me reaching for a snack.

Today I had:
L: Apple and Cinnamon porridge (same recipe in book but swapped the pear for apple) so yummy!
Afternoon: decaf coffee with 100ml of milk
D: egg wrap (from recipe book) with cheese in, and salad.
Evening: cuppa with 10ml of milk

Increased my steps by 500 today. Hoping to get to 10k steps by end of the month.

@Ihateme hope you're ok Flowers

CoffeethenCrochet · 06/01/2021 23:15

@Dinkydody I am already caffeine free due to health issues, but I think caffeine can spike insulin so it's better to avoid it when possible.

DoctorYang · 07/01/2021 08:48

Day 4 for me, and I had a sneaky weigh this morning - 8lbs off.

I don't think MFP is always accurate either, though! I use either Sainsbury's website (most of their foods have a full nutritional breakdown) or a very old Slimming Magazine calorie counter book for the most accurate values.

However, overall I'd say don't stress about it too much - you will know, by definition just looking at what you're eating, that you are consuming far fewer calories and carbs than you were before!

Dinkydody · 07/01/2021 09:45

I was just wondering because of your headaches. Carb flu can be brutal 😬 but should pass in a week 😊
