Just did a resistance workout on YouTube and am almost dead Grin about to have salmon + cavolo Nero and romanesco then close kitchen.

MozzchopsThirty · 29/06/2020 19:08

@thenewaveragebear1983 can you have cauliflower cheese??? That's my favourite food!!! Do you make your own

Hi @Bestbees how was your first day???

I've closed on 789 calories. Had a ham salad at lunch, sweet & sour chicken tonight with broccoli and bare naked noodles

MozzchopsThirty · 29/06/2020 19:09

Also did 55 mins body combat

Bluebiddy · 29/06/2020 19:23

Can anyone more knowledgeable tell me, is the 800 plan essentially a ketogenic diet since it's so low carb? Does weight loss happen due to keto fat burning? Have any of you experienced ketosis on the diet?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/06/2020 19:36

@MozzchopsThirty I just use soft cheese, grated cheddar and Parmesan and loosen it with milk. You need to be careful as it can split but if it does I do add a spoonful of flour to pull it back together. Precook the cauli and broccoli and then just pour the hot sauce and then grill the top. I like it with chopped up bacon or chorizo bits as a full meal (adding that to next weeks menu immediately)

@Bluebiddy not exactly. You can get into ketosis but I think you need to actively keep the carbs low. If you follow the menu in the book it's likely too carby to get into true ketosis (mm describes it as achieving mild ketosis in the book). The weight loss comes from insulin control really; less insulin in the blood, you tap into your fat stores for energy rather than carbs- but I'm not sure whether this is always due to ketosis. I think you can lose weight successfully without being in ketosis

Bluebiddy · 29/06/2020 20:24

Thank you, although I know ketosis can be very effective in the short term, I don't think it's healthy as a lifestyle choice, & I know diets like Atkinson can cause quite serious health problems. I believe a true keto diet can leave you feeling pretty drained, at least initially, making it very hard to stick to. Never mind the dreaded keto-breath Blush

Bluebiddy · 29/06/2020 20:25

*Atkins. Stoopid phone

Bluebiddy · 29/06/2020 20:27

It makes sense that this plan includes lots of satiating fats & avoids overproduction of insulin & excess glucose storage

Justasecondnow · 29/06/2020 20:34

Hi all, slipped this morning and had a tiny home made doughnut when offered this morning(baked not deep fried, like a small sugary doughy fairy cake really). Made up for it by skipping lunch. Had BSD Moroccan meatballs w/ bulgar wheat + milk for tea, comes out about 650 cals and 50 carbs. I just don’t know what the tiny doughnut cake thing was! Carbs will be over but cals only just I think.

Had a mostly booze free weekend (a sip of red wine) and feel good for it. Not drinking does definitely help - the empty booze calories are one thing, then the lack of will power snacking at the time, then the hungover survival eating. It’s a shame it’s so satisfying and... well fun!

Oh and well done ilovemydogandmrobama2 well into the 9’s! What’s your goal weight?

Justasecondnow · 29/06/2020 20:47

Ps. Doing ok today hunger/cravings wise... except.... my other half is eating a delicious toasted cinnamon and raisin bagel with tons of butter. And chewing loudly. I could quite cheerfully murder him!

Bestbees · 29/06/2020 21:09

Well done @ilovemydogandmrobama2 I want to be where you are!

Today has been a good day as I have been so busy. I ate differently to plan due to what needed eating. Lunch was tin of spicy mackerel mixed with roast veg and a boiled egg, delicious! Lunch Vege pulled pork salad, cauli couscous and then Yog, berries and almonds. Finished eating by 6 and won't eat until 12 tomorrow. Bike ride this evening and now ready for bed!
I am really hoping for a big drop this week to get me back in the swing Grin
Tomorrow plan is a veg soup (sort of ramen but no noodles) and some cottage cheese for lunch. Dinner pork tenderloin, babaganoush and cabbage. Berries, Yog and almonds.

MozzchopsThirty · 29/06/2020 21:38

@thenewaveragebear1983 could I use just cheddar & Parmesan with oat milk???
Getting very excited at the possibility of cauliflower cheese

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/06/2020 22:16

Yes I guess so, if you can heat Oat milk? I use soy and it's fine. It's the flour that normally stops it splitting though so you do have to be careful.

@Bluebiddy I think the only one on here that may do ketosis is @fufulina but I could be wrong.
Edamame spaghetti? Where from please bear
Which resistance workout plancina? And thanks for the pink fizz tip too.
Huge huge well done ObamaDog that’s definitely happened to me before... never sure if it’s just a delayed response or what.

Good day today. Kitchen closed at 730pm under 800 cals and 20 carbs.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/06/2020 07:05

@Kimlek it's from Aldi actually but you can get it in other places. Most big supermarkets stock a red lentil pasta (in the gluten free) but it's still quite carby whereas the edamame/soybean ones aren't

10.8 today as well, which means I'm ending June 5.5lbs lighter than I ended may (although I've been up and down across the month) - but that's pleasing and I'm feeling like I may have clawed my mojo back from somewhere finally!

OP posts:
Kimlek · 30/06/2020 07:49

Thank you bear
I’m 10.6.4 this morning so around 6lb lighter than at the end of May albeit it’s been rather bouncy too!
I’ve a brisk 6k dog walk this morning, lunch will be salad and dinner chicken drumstick & courgettes & peppers etc (was thinking bbq but not sure warm enough).

Bestbees · 30/06/2020 08:27

Well done bear and kimlek!

Down 1.75 from yesterday which is a great post and down about 7 from the end of may. When I write that it makes me feel better about the blip I have been having!
Heres to another good day😁

Plancina · 30/06/2020 08:43

I am a full kilo lighter than I was on Sunday! 66.0kg this morning (and that was before a trip to the loo as well!)
I am feeling so buoyed up now. I haven’t been starving, I can see the food I’m eating is really healthy and full of nutrition and I have energy.
@kimlek the workout was this one

Plancina · 30/06/2020 08:43

Argh pressed post instead of paste m.youtube.com/watch?v=pu5ooFKu7ME

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/06/2020 08:52

@Plancina that looks tough, do you need dumbbells/kettlebell?

OP posts:
Plancina · 30/06/2020 08:55

You need two lighter/moderate weights and one heavy one, you could use 2L bottles of water maybe if you don’t have weights. I used 2 x 5kg hand weights and 1x 10kg handweight that I bought online at the start of lockdown. I don’t always use the 10kg one, for woodchops I just use 5kg but I try to use the 10 as often as I can. I could do with some 8kgs as 5 is quite light for me now and 10 too heavy, but I can’t justify the spend with all the money we have lost on the wedding.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/06/2020 09:03

Thanks I have 3s and 5s and a kettlebell. I am actually dreading my bootcamp class reopening next week because I have list so much strength, I've done virtually nothing for weeks except cardio!

OP posts:
Plancina · 30/06/2020 09:25

@thenewaveragebear1983 I went online to get myself a kettle bell and was Shock at the price of them!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/06/2020 09:51

I know! They are just lumps of concrete!! Look out for when Aldi do their fitness special deals, I got mine for £8 and it's 8kg. And they have a groove shape so you don't bruise your arm (which if you've ever done a kettlebell class you'll know it's actually really painful!)
