Hi @Plancina seriously the hunger pangs last a few minutes. I often feel peckish, rarely hungry as I have a decent fat intake. Your fat intake (good fats, avocado, nuts etc) is crucial in combating the hunger pangs. Like bear has said cut ALL pasta, bread, rice, potatoes, and sugar. Eat lots of proteins and decent amount of fats. If you’ve been calorie counting have you been doing low fat/low cal? This way is quite a different method and will be odd in embracing full fat products! Good luck!!

Kimlek · 27/06/2020 09:34

Sorry plancina you’ve obviously got the book(s)!!

Plancina · 27/06/2020 09:38

@kimlek thank you! I live with a carb monster who has said he will try and do this with me Shock so we shall see how long he lasts aha! The meal plans look really nice and I don’t mind going low carb, but I was really poor as a child and often hungry which has left me with issues about being hungry/fear of being hungry. So this is a really big deal for me, to face those feelings head on. I know I can do it because I had a stomach issue in 2014 which meant I couldn’t eat solid food for a while and had to do a lot of fasting for tests and operations, and that actually went a long way to helping me realise I had these issues with food, but when I was well again I was just so happy I ate everything in sight and now I’m overweight!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/06/2020 09:45

@Plancina you will he surprised how little you can eat and not feel hungry, if you eat the right foods. In your case based on what you've said it might be worth having a plan of action for what you will do if you do feel hungry and get very anxious as a result; some things that are 'allowed' and won't cause you to go off plan, even if that means allowing a few extra calories on some days. It's better to have 1000 cals and stick to it than 800 and struggle. Anxiety makes me crave sugar very strongly, not sure about others.

Joining in. I am going to go for unlimited greens though because I get so hungry and the book says that’s ok?

How many of you skip breakfast?

I’m going to stick the the recipe book. I do need a small amount of carb to sleep - at the same time keen for ketosis to stop the hunger.

I noticed there were pita bread pizzas in the recipe book- surely loads of carbs? But they look yummy!

Placina - focusing on what you can have may be helpful? So having something a ready, like others say for when you feel hungry.

How do you all reward yourselves? Do any of you take pictures to map your progress?

Itshotoday · 27/06/2020 10:02

Waver - You will totally get back on track, your head is more in the right space right now. It sounds like you were a very caring teacher!

fufulina · 27/06/2020 10:22

@itshottoday I don’t eat breakfast. Just a shit load of black coffee and water. Sometimes with a splash of double cream. Two meals a day and usually one day a week with one meal a day. Hunger tips - it was a revelation to me to know that I can ride out hunger - it doesn’t build to a crescendo. And, crucially for me, low carb (I tend to stay under 30g a day) and I’m rarely hungry anyway.

Cocobox · 27/06/2020 12:26

Hi all and welcome new joiners. I don’t eat breakfast either.

My back is better today so I will do 3 miles on the cross trainer which takes me 32 mins.

B Coffee
L Nothing
D Roast chicken, cauliflower, mange tout, carrots, kale

I weighed this morning. I am 10 st 1 lb. Week 1 I lost 5 lbs, week 2 I gained back 2 lbs. I put that down to bad back, wine, crisps and bread.

3 weeks to my holiday. My spare tyre is big and I need to fit in my size 14 wetsuit.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/06/2020 12:33

I don't eat breakfast either, well at least not on the majority of days. I do have soya milk in coffee during three morning though, so probably 50 cals/negligible carbs

OP posts:
Itshotoday · 27/06/2020 12:50

*shit load of coffee 😂 sounds a really good plan. I can do that. I was reading coffee can increase sugar cravings..

Skipping brekkie interesting you all do this! Is this because you’re all not hungry or do you do it because fitting 400 kcal per meal means only two meals or because it suppresses appetite?

All doing brilliantly by the sounds of it. I’m going to do it strictly week days but have a bit more at weekend.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/06/2020 13:09

@Itshotoday a bit of both. Extending the fasting period from dinner on day one to lunch on day 2 will do wonderful things metabolically (as per the book); plus simply removing one meal from the equation is just a simple way to reduce overall calorie intake

OP posts:
Cocobox · 27/06/2020 13:11

Itshotoday I do it for all three reasons! Firstly if I do eat breakfast it usually means I am hungrier all day, no idea why. Secondly I like big meals and 800 kc breaks up nicely into two good meals. Thirdly I am in the habit of this now and think nothing of not having breakfast. I have never been the type who gets dizzy or shaky if I skip meals, I have a friend who has to have lots of tiny meals or she gets weak but I could probably switch to one meal a day. If only I could knock the wine and salty snacks at night, that’s my nemesis.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 27/06/2020 13:34

Can I join you? I started off on SW nearly a year ago. Changed to calorie counting at the start of the year, then added in some odd intermittent fasting days.

I'm determined to get to a 3 stone loss by mid July and 4 stone by Sept. I have been following Fast800 for the last few weeks. It's going well for the most part. One blip.

Bluebiddy · 27/06/2020 13:56

@Kimlek

OMG I’m bang in 800 & 27 carbs including the wine. I’m sure I must have forgotten to count something!
Hi Kimlek, do you use an app to keep track if calories / carbs?
Plancina · 27/06/2020 14:24

We have a special meal booked for Saturday next week. Currently thinking to fast from the night before and have lots of water and herbal tea through the day then order sensibly off the menu plus a glass of wine. Otherwise no plans to deviate!

PhoenixMama · 27/06/2020 14:31

Hi all - didn't weigh this morning as I'm feeling dreadful (very bad night plus various life things) and I know the results will upset me. Will plan better for next week! Planning seems to be the biggest key for me!

ilovemydogandmrobama2 · 27/06/2020 14:46

Oh Phoenix - I think sometimes you just need to give yourself a break and just get through the day however that looks, whether it's carbs/alcohol and/or a combination therein.

Planning is generally what works for me too, as I like to have something to look forward to!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/06/2020 18:27

@Plancina I shall share a cautionary tale with you...you can choose to heed my warning or not.... when I first started fasting/BSD/low cal etc I did exactly as you are suggesting. Booked a meal, fasted from the night before's dinner, and all day. Got to the restaurant. Waited for table, enjoying a nice glass of wine.

I Do not remember meal, wine, dessert or getting home. That first glass on a low carbed, detoxed, emptier than ever before stomach went literally like a hotline to my brain and I was drunk before we even sat down. My advice is to eat a (little) something before you leave...Grin

Plancina · 27/06/2020 18:49

@thenewaveragebear1983 😂 okay I shall have a cup of vegetable soup! I’ve made a batch with some of the free vegetables (courgette, green cabbage, celery, broad beans and leek) and some vegan stock, which makes my anxiety about being hungry less, if I think I can have a cup of that when I am very anxious.
I have been reading all about the diet today and DP is up for it too. Impatient to start - how realistic is it to hope to lose 6-7 kilos by 1 August?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/06/2020 19:34

I'd have a piece of cheese too, to line the stomach...

Anyway. I've had a brilliant day today! Listened to my hypno and read the accompanying book yesterday and today I've had a lovely clear head. I did lots of visualisations of all the food I keep grazing on and today I haven't touched it at all.,
Lunch was salad, and dinner was a chicken breast stuffed with sundried Toms, olives and feta.

Great work bear! Sounds brill.

I did a bbc good food tea for us all tonight - crispy garlic chicken. A mix of mayo, Parmesan, garlic, lemon, rosemary and seasoning. All over chicken. For the family, then dipped in breadcrumbs. Oven for about 40 minutes. It was about 500 cals for a big portion but it was really delicious!

And we bought a car today! Our current one has done us almost 12 years. And only cost £4K back in 2008. A workhorse. But it was given a terminal diagnosis by the garage when I took it in for a pre-summer travelling check. DDs were so excited by electric windows in the back Grin easily pleased.

Social tomorrow. Am having a couple of gins... first booze for 8 weeks! Am nervous will be blithering by 1, particularly given bear’s cautionary tale...

@Bluebiddy I now use Fat Secret app for recording my food/drinks etc. I used to use My Fitness Pal. Both are good and free but I’m liking fat secret. I should put it into the app before I eat it and then I could reconcile any issues but I forget to do this! I also weight daily and log it on Happy Scale another free app as it smooths out blips, gives rate of loss and an idea of goal date. I really really like it!
@Itshotoday I’m another one who doesn’t eat b’fast. I used to force it down as not really hungry. I naturally get a bit peckish around 1030/11 but never ever hungry until midday/2pm. I’ve been like this since I was a kid so when I read ‘eat when you’re hungry & not because it’s time to’ it was a revelation and gave me permission to skip them most important meal of the day’ that had been drummed into me. However, I find this trickier on holidays were its catered especially if they’re still serving at 1030!

Bluebiddy · 27/06/2020 22:20

Thanks. I'll look into those.

Bluebiddy · 27/06/2020 22:21

Is it worth getting the books?
I've just started rereading the fast diet. Wondering if I should get the 800 one.
