Thank you Smile
So what fats will you have? Avocado? Eggs? nuts?
I like all of these it's just getting them into my diet

Bestbees · 29/06/2020 08:11

Yes I probably have a massive portion of veg! I like to get 7-9 portions a day so that's a lot! I know I can really do that on this!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/06/2020 08:19

Full fat dairy, salmon, mackerel, eggs, oils
Be a bit more mindful of those fats that come with carbs such as cashew nuts (high carbs as fat as nuts go), dairy has some carb etc. That will help you get the fats up but not the carbs.

@Bestbees you do well to get that much veg and still keep to 50g to be honest, I struggle to get the veg high and keep within the limits. Some days I'll just have a higher veg day in order to eat enough and just accept the carbs are high that day

Kimlek · 29/06/2020 08:22

On fat secret there’s a low carb eating plan and the carbs are something like 100g. That’s what they’re calling low carb. If you plugged into mfp what you’d usually eat in a day the carbs would shock you. So it’s all relative. I eat lots of veg and salad and my carbs are usually in the 50g mark. Albeit they’ve been high recently as sugar sneaking in. I had my usual veg yesterday and was all looking good then watched 1917 and had an apple with peanut butter and some strawbs. Apples are a tadge carby but better than the Doritos I could have had. It’s all relative.

Bestbees · 29/06/2020 08:29

That's really helpful everyone. I agree fufilina, it has to work for you. I will keep to below 50g and focus on having a good mix. I have had reasonable success before mixing up Vege and meat eating days so some higher carb and I think the fibre helps.

Welcom back @MozzchopsThirty I am in the same situations as you. Really hoping to drop a good few lbs this week. Let's support each other!

fufulina · 29/06/2020 08:31

I did that a few weeks ago, @kimlek - a standard day for me was about 260g carbs! Abandoned low carb entirely!

Totally agree it’s whatever works for you. 50g is just too high for me - I get the hunger. I suppose I’m really doing keto.

Justasecondnow · 29/06/2020 08:32

Wow fulfina your losses are amazing. Welll done!

Carb wise I’m usually under 50. I must admit I’ve never low carbed before and I prob focus a bit more on cals. I pretty much accept all the logic behind this diet re losing weight and carbs but part of me can’t help trusting the cal in cal out part more. I think cos it’s simple!

Re filling food mozzchops eggs, avocado, halloumi, steak, chicken. I often have stuff like an egg with avocado style salad, chicken or halloumi kebabs, and maybe steak on a Friday night. Do you have any of the books? I use the BSD recipe book a lot. There is a recipe thread on here as well that has a few bits on too. Oh and a small amount of nuts - pecans are my favourite- are good for a snack too.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/06/2020 08:34

Quality of carbs and amount of fibre also makes a difference remember.

Day 2 and have lost 1.5 lbs - I know it’s probably just water but I’m taking it! Haven’t had breakfast yet as not totally starving, have the quinoa and blueberry breakfast from the fast 800 plan sitting ready to go. Lunch is poached eggs with kale and tomato, dinner is coconut salmon w cauliflower and cavolo Nero. I’m going to aim for between 14:10 and 16:8 this week each day.

Cocobox · 29/06/2020 11:25

Morning everyone, Kimlek I had the Doritos you dodged, 230 gr big bag which was 1,250 kc. I also drank a bottle of wine. Annoyed with myself and bit down, feel physically crap too.

I realise I will never lose this last stone while drinking wine. So I am going to take my measurements and commit to giving up for July. I might have a look and see if there is a sober thread. Lockdown has meant no driving for me and I think knowing I am not driving the next day has meant I am drinking every evening. Sorry to bang on.

Clevererthanyou · 29/06/2020 13:29

Good afternoon all 😁 ty Bear for advising me to get the Michael Moseley book, it arrived yesterday and I’ve barely put it down, what a read! I was 127.4 last week but despite sticking rigidly to 800 calories and no carbs I’ve gone back up to 128.4 which feels like a kick in the balls because I’ve never tried this hard to be so careful about eating before. I know I went outside of 16:8 so maybe that’s what it was? I’m back on track today but I won’t give up even if I have to sweat or cry each and every lb.

Clevererthanyou · 29/06/2020 13:30

Cocobox speaking from experience, it can be really hard to give up alcohol. Is wine your big downfall? Bloody sugar!

Cocobox · 29/06/2020 14:14

Hi Clevererthanyou, yes, white wine. I can completely ignore every other alcohol, no interest in chocolate, cakes or biscuits. Didn’t drink as a teenager, barely drank in my 20’s, 30s were fine but the last 10 years it’s become a thing. I am a nervous driver so wouldn’t dream of alcohol in the evening when I have the school run the next morning but lockdown I am pretty sure it has been wine almost every day for 3 months. It’s just hit me today I think, feel unwell and no wonder! The double whammy is the wine leads to the salty snacks.

Is that 128.4 lbs? Thats almost my goal weight. Do you have much more to lose?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/06/2020 14:17

@Cocobox I have to say after a weekend of no wine (not even no alcohol, just no red wine!) I feel so much better. And yes, I didn't indulge in the snacks. I am going to stick with that method for now and I think gradually phase out the ratio of gin to tonic in my drinks - for next it's the first one (lush) and then the rest are just habit. I like tonic in its own which helps as well, I find wine subs are not 'dry' enough for me to be fooled whereas tonic is tonic

OP posts:
Cocobox · 29/06/2020 14:23

Thanks Bear I will add a couple of different types of tonic to the shopping list.

Clevererthanyou ignore my stupid comment I realise it’s kgs, I always think in lbs, it’s probably my age.

Clevererthanyou · 29/06/2020 14:37

It’s ok Coco I am 128kg but now scales say 127.4 again 🤨 I’ll persevere and ignore the scales for a few days, madness that way lies I think!
The stress that we’ve all been placed under hasn’t helped with the drinking (for you) and the cake (for me) every day.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/06/2020 15:09

@Cocobox be careful with 'posh' tonic like fevertree light as it is actually sweetened with pure fructose (which is not much different to the dreaded high fructose corn syrup!); you need artificially sweetened ones. I prefer Schweppes but the shop own brand are usually ok as well with ice and lime

I hear ya. I can avoid snacking on savoury junk (which I love) until I have a beer or wine Sad
Bluebiddy · 29/06/2020 15:27

If you like a 'dry' drink try gin with soda water and a good squeeze of lime or lemon or throw in a couple of berries for a hint of sweetness to fool your taste buds. I used to like a g&t but now find the t far too sweet in a really cloying way

Cocobox · 29/06/2020 15:28

Taking the Fevertree out of the online trolley. Thanks Bear.

Bluebiddy · 29/06/2020 15:34

Broke my fast today with lunch. I had left over chicken pieces so coated them in a savoury seasoning mix & grilled them, threw some eggs, grated cheese & black pepper in a pan to make an omelette, but it ended up as scrambled egg, then added a couple of sundried tomatoes. It was seriously tasty! (Excuse the crap pic)
I felt so full afterwards so hopefully it'll keep me sated until dinner which will be spicy mackerel since I accidentally opened a tin this morning when giving the dog breakfast.
I'm not yet counting or measuring anything because I haven't figured out how! But all of your posts are definitely helping to keep me focused. Talking of measuring things, I tried to make a doctor's appointment today to check my fasting glucose, triglyceride & cholesterol levels (as MM suggests in the Fast Diet book) - as well as thyroid since mine is under active & they're still only taking emergency appointments Sad

I go sober every now and then. Otherwise is drink a bottle of wine a night. First one is ‘ahhhh’ but the rest just habit. I had a glass of rose on Fri night with friends but that’s been it for 3 almost 4 weeks. I’m aiming to only drink socially and then be reasonable. And NOT pouring a glass as I cook dinner. I’ve got nosecco which is ok but the non alcohol wines are awful. The blue becks is ok though if you fancy a ‘beer’ on a hot evening.
I’m static again. So have fasted until just now (4pm) and had a tiny slice of smoked salmon. I did a 7km dog walk but wasn’t a fast ind. I’ve a 5pm zoom call so will make dinner at 6ish then close the kitchen again. I’ve slipped into a midday to 10pm eating window recently.

Plancina · 29/06/2020 16:50

@kimlek Freixenet do a no alcohol pink fizz which is really nice, the white fizz is also good. My most challenging time is between lunch and dinner, from about 3.30-7pm when I get starving and lightheaded. I’m going to bed around 2230 so I find if I eat around 7/730pm and have a herbal tea at 9ish I don’t get too hungry in the eve. But the mid afternoon is hell!

ilovemydogandmrobama2 · 29/06/2020 17:39

So weird, after various plateaus (am sure it's plateaux?) was stuck on 9st 13lbs.

Yesterday, DH did a lovely roast dinner and had a few potatoes, broccoli and a few several glasses of wine.

Was dreading the scales this morning, but was Shock it came up as 9 st 11 lbs Hmm Hmm.

Back on the fasting today - had a chicken salad this evening.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/06/2020 17:55

Closing the kitchen on 1201 cals, but a little high on 55g carbs. 13k steps (run with ds). Dinner went awry as I made pesto to go on my meatballs and it was horrible. Like, really really awful. So instead I made a sort of sauce with garlic, sundried Tom, olives and herbs, sautéed it and added my edamame spaghetti to it and it was LUSH. I had a scoop of sugar free jelly for pudding as well, but that's why the carbs were higher. No snacks today or mindless grazing, so I'm very pleased with that overall. Don't think I've drunk enough water today though, will try to glug a few pints this evening!

Tomorrow: early run to finish the month. Lunch will be chicken and salad, dinner will be pork steak and cauliflower cheese
