16:8 any success?

iddybiddymum · 15/11/2018 22:17

I've been doing 16:8 Monday - Friday for 2.5 weeks now . I pretty much eat what I like between 12-8 ( not in excess and mostly healthy).

I didn't weigh myself but do feel clothes fit slightly better and feel
A little less tired.

Does anyone have any success stories at all? Would love to hear!

Did this in 2017. my times were 12-8, but often i stopped eating at 7. During my eating window i loosely counted WW points. i could stick to those during the 8 hours, while i never could on a whole day. i lost 4 stone over 6 months. initially as exercise i just walked. After my first 2 stone came off i started running. Once i was doing more running, i ate a bit more and I gained about half a stone to get me to 10 and seemed to be comfortable there (cheat days weren't affecting it etc) Managed to keep the weight off till about May when i got injured, could barely walk and had some relationship/emotional issues. Cadbury's became my new best friend (i'm a terrible emotional binge eater). Unfortunately i gained 2 stone since then. Took me a lot to get my mind back at it and am finally feeling in control again doing the same as before. i'd like to loose the 2 stone again by June.

HereIGoAgainAndAgain · 23/01/2019 14:01

Stillearning I find it amazing that by sticking to this way of eating you managed to loose 4 stones in 6 months ........well done for getting back on track, at least you only put half of it back on it could of been a lot worse.

HereIGoAgainAndAgain · 23/01/2019 14:04

giantnannyknickers I think with any weight loss, it will slow down and you will get weeks when you might not loose, but at least you aren't putting on, have you tried measuring as you may be loosing inches?

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 23/01/2019 14:24

Hello all, a shorter fast for me today as I had a coffee and scone with friends at 9.30.
Giantnannyknickers, I can be impatient with the scales and have to remind myself to give it time.
(Sorry! I called you 'Giantgrannyknickers' earlier; half asleep!)

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 23/01/2019 14:26

Stilllearning, that was an amazing loss. It sounds like you're back in the zone now. Best of luck.

jinglewithbellson · 23/01/2019 21:14

Been abit off sync with timings the last two days.

Buggered up today and ate a cheese stick and drank a cold coffee at 10 am when fast time started at 12pm. Hmm
Then due to at home things when I finished tea work I didn't actually eat tea till 8.45 so today's a wipe out.

Got to fast later tomorrow anyway as it's my long working day so will do 1pm to 9pm eating window and hopefully will get myself back on track.
Not weighed again since Saturday as tempted as I am but I keep reminding myself that scale weight doesn't matter as long as my clothes feel looser which is hard as my work clothes are a loose fitting dress and hold it all in tights Grin

I bought a pair of cheap skinnies in a bigger size just to use as a guide as I'm currently living in a line day dresses and leggings due to the nearly two stone weight gain. Shock

It's going to be quite a while before I attempt to try on any of my previous two sizes smaller skinnies

giantnannyknickers · 23/01/2019 23:08

@HereIGoAgainAndAgain I actually don't weight myself as my scales is a lying arsehole hahahah but I've fitting into size 10/12 now so defo have lost inches

@IsFuzzyBeagMise love the name! Are you Irish? Also would LOVE fo have a scone so bad

You've all motivated me again to keep going!

giantnannyknickers · 23/01/2019 23:09

@Stilllearning01 that's amazing weight loss and kudos for you for getting back on the band wagon and trying again. I'm an emotional eater too.

FlamingGoat · 24/01/2019 07:31

Weighed myself this morning and I've lost 5lbs! Bloody hell. Ive had homemade ham salad for lunch most days with chicken or omelettes for dinner . Ive cut out sugar in my tea too.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 24/01/2019 08:55

Holy Moly, FlamingGoat, that's brilliant, well done!
Yes, giantnannyknickers, I'm Irish, from Cork. Thanks! It means 'I'm a small fuzzy' (which I am!)
Well, I'm back on track; not a scone in sight today. I'm looking forward to 11am for tea and toast.
Good luck today, everyone.

giantnannyknickers · 24/01/2019 09:11

@IsFuzzyBeagMise I'm from cork too but living in Australia! It's too hot for scones here but I'd love one.

@FlamingGoat wow that's fab weight loss! Well done! Keep it up.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 24/01/2019 09:28

That's hilarious, giantnannyknickers! Too hot for scones, that's hard to imagine. It's grey and drizzling again here today, so it would be very easy to dive into a scone.

TheFifthKey · 24/01/2019 09:38

I've been doing this for a week and I'm 2.5lbs down - I'm also doing MFP and watching calories but I must say doing it this way is so easy! It's starightforward for me because I just skip breakfast (and since the second day I haven't missed it) - just have tea and coffee - white because I hate it otherwise but it seems to be OK - and then I don't get a break until 11am anyway. We eat dinner early because I have small children so I can do 6-11 most days with no effort at all. I don't usually even feel hungry at 11 and I don't get any desire to snack on the way home or in the evenings like I usually do.

I'm relaxing a bit at weekends but that's what I like about this - it's so easy and flexible if you need it to be. And I like that basically nobody else can tell anything's different, because I'm eating lunch and dinner just the same with family or colleagues.

HereIGoAgainAndAgain · 24/01/2019 10:16

FlamingGoat.....WOW

TheFiftyKey I agree completely with you, its what I love about it too, and so far so easy to keep to, I have also virtually cut out all snacking and I don't miss munching in front of the TV of an evening as I've pressed fasting on my zero app so just keep to it Smile........hopefully I'll still be saying this in a couple of months!!

Stilllearning01 · 24/01/2019 14:47

@FlamingGoat...well done! it's so motivating when that happens.

This time i also ditched the coffee in the morning (as i have loads of milk in mine) and only drink water or squash. I tried tea, but it really messed with me and made me feel nauseous.

I am always amazed how fantastic i start to feel after a few days. much clearer thinking and my digestion really seems to calm down

FlamingGoat · 26/01/2019 18:26

Lost 3lbs overnight! Had an endoscopy which involved drinking 2 litres of moviprep. I don't recommend it as a weight loss aidSad

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 26/01/2019 20:30

Hi FlamingGoat, you poor thing; I hope you are feeling half-way normal again after the procedure.
At least you have the benefit of losing the three pounds!
We have friends staying over this weekend so the usual fasting window is not happening with late dinners. I'm not overdoing it on the food front so hopefully staying on track calorie-wise.
Have a good weekend, everyone!

jinglewithbellson · 26/01/2019 20:37

Cocked up the last day or so. Been a bit of a nightmare. Did jump on the scales yesterday and haven't lost this week but I haven't gained so just need to tweak this coming week I think.
Buggered up tonight and had a McDonald's for tea and have bought a bar of caramel chocolate for while I read my mags and chill out this evening so il start again tomorrow

Roobear23 · 26/01/2019 21:36

Hello just seen this thread and I'm giving it a go so thought I'd join for some motivation :)
I started this week then got a cold so I stopped but back on it from now!
Does anyone else have small children? I feel bad not eating breakfast with my son especially when he's offering me his crusts! Although it did highlight how much I'm eating without noticing.

giantnannyknickers · 26/01/2019 21:54

@Roobear23 ive a 2 year old and a 7 month old! The only way I try not to snack is by looking at the timer on the app zero I'm
Using and it reminds me I only have an hour or so left until I can have breakfast (which helps
Me avoid snacking)

What apps is everyone else using?

@FlamingGoat hope you are feeling better!

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 26/01/2019 22:17

Hi Roobear23! No very small children here. They are 14, 13 and 8. The only sociable meal we have is dinner, so it's easy to be flexible with breakfast and lunch.
I'm not using an app at the moment, but there is a lot of clock-watching between 10-11am on weekdays Grin
Jingle, I'm hoping to maintain at the moment. I'll have to make an effort next week for a loss.

HereIGoAgainAndAgain · 27/01/2019 09:26

Jingle I was out yesterday shopping with DD when she dragged me in to a cafe for lunch so obviously I had to have the burger and chips Blush...still hoping to eat healthier today!

Welcome Roobear23 I'm also using the zero app, I find it really helps with keeping to the fasting window, particularly in the evening when I'm most likely to mindless start snacking.

FlamingGoat that sounds painful, hope your on the mend.

Cocolepew · 27/01/2019 09:57

Hope you're ok goat
Well done on any losses everyone Star
I forgot to weigh myself at the beginning of this but since the beginning this month I've lost 6 lbs!
Lightest I've been for years.
I was worried about eating more this week, I was off work sick.
But I've definitely got into the habit of not eating for the sake of it .
Still stopping after my dinner then having hot water with lemon and grapefruit around 9, so not doing the full fast.
I want to get another half stone off.
Good luck for the week ahead!

Roobear23 · 27/01/2019 10:56

Thank you for the tips :)

Well done for losing 6lb!
I haven't weighed myself, just took a photo in a full length mirror before I started.

Only an hour and a half til I can eat again... CakeGrin

Cocolepew · 27/01/2019 12:11

Thanks Roobear Smile
I didn't take a photo in the end, Ive noticed the weight has come off my face and boobs, also my stomach doesn't jiggle so much going over speed bumps 😊
