16:8 any success?

iddybiddymum · 15/11/2018 22:17

I've been doing 16:8 Monday - Friday for 2.5 weeks now . I pretty much eat what I like between 12-8 ( not in excess and mostly healthy).

I didn't weigh myself but do feel clothes fit slightly better and feel
A little less tired.

Does anyone have any success stories at all? Would love to hear!

Well done goat, that's fantastic!
I try to eat healthier during my window runwithme , I think I will be more relaxed at the weekends but try to not overeat.
I'm going away overnight to London in Feb so it will be out the window that day Grin

HereIGoAgainAndAgain · 18/01/2019 15:24

Goat that is great motivation, elbow sounds painful.

runwithme I would agree with what others have said, I'm mainly following this way of eating due to the perceived benefits of fasting, but when you only give yourself a set time in which to eat for me it makes me feel more in control of my eating and so I tend not to overeat. Although I definitely try to eat healthily and by skipping breakfast only have two meals a day.

runwithme · 20/01/2019 22:49

Thanks for your replies everyone! Ok, so this seems like its for me as I like the control that I can have.

I've bought some cup a soups for lunch but I think I might need to pad it out with some protein so will get some yogurts and perhaps take a boiled egg into work. Then a light dinner of scrambled egg and bagel tomorrow perhaps. Lots of water and a green tea. Desperately need to shift this weight.

Will also look into keto- is that basically a high protein diet?

FlamingGoat · 21/01/2019 06:59

Ugh...failed miserably on Saturday but today is a new week.

jinglewithbellson · 21/01/2019 07:12

Week one and 4lb off for me Grin
Am really pleased but know it will slow down now and will be slower but I'm fine with that as long as it's coming off not going on.

HereIGoAgainAndAgain · 21/01/2019 07:29

Jingle yeah well done, fab loss .............I've lost a pound this week so I'm also pleased Smile

FlamingGoat the weekend is always hard, good luck for this week!

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 21/01/2019 08:45

I'm down another pound and I am a number on the scales that I haven't seen for a long time, so I'm very happy with that. It's great to see the downward trend.
I read the Blood Sugar Diet book over the weekend. It's a very good read. I wouldn't cut out carbs myself but will cut down on them and try making cauliflower rice.
FlamingGoat, weekends are harder than weekends, definitely. Well done jingle, great start. Good luck, runwithme! Eat some protein at every meal.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 21/01/2019 08:46

Weekends are harder than week days. (Duh!)

Cocolepew · 21/01/2019 09:26

Well done jingle and fuzzy StarStar!
I'm down 3lb this week, but I'm going to modify the diet a bit.
I've been really light-headed in the mornings, I have Lupus and I've gone into a flare over the weekend so it could have been that working on me.
But I'm going to not eat after 6 , have a glass of breakfast juice when I get up at 7.15 and then fruit and hot water and lemon anytime after 9. I'm also going to carry on drinking the diluted juice at night.
I also left the fb groups because they were bonkers. Obsessed with not breaking their fasts and going on week long ones Shock

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 21/01/2019 11:24

Hi Coco Smile I'm sorry to hear about your flare. Yes, you need to do what is right for you. I think your diet plan sounds fine and 6pm-9am is a long fasting window. Regarding the fb group; that wouldn't be for me at all faints at the thought of it.

Cocolepew · 21/01/2019 13:17

Thanks Fuzzy Smile

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 21/01/2019 14:59

Mind yourself, CocoBrew

I made cauliflower rice as part of my stir-fry at lunch time. It was easy to make and tasted fine mixed in with everything else. I kept some in the fridge for tomorrow.

HereIGoAgainAndAgain · 22/01/2019 06:45

Coco great weight loss but Shock at the FB group, I thought I was pushing the boundaries by missing breakfast but a week.....madness!!

IsFuzzy you must be so chuffed on reaching that new number Wink, I will only feel like I'm actually making real progress once I've a stone, as I keep putting on and loosing the same stone sooooooo many times Smile

Here's to a good week everyone!

Lou0390 · 22/01/2019 07:08

Sorry if this has been asked before but how does it work with drinks? So black coffee or are you allowed some milk during the fasting window? Thank you Smile

HereIGoAgainAndAgain · 22/01/2019 09:13

Hi Lou, I only drink black coffee anyway but I personally think if it is to be sustainable it has to be what you can realistically do, so if you can go without the milk then do but if that's too difficult then don't........Confused

Good luck!

Lou0390 · 22/01/2019 09:35

@HereIGoAgainAndAgain thank you I'm going to try black coffee and see how I do. I'm excited as I think it's something I can stick to finally Smile

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 22/01/2019 11:20

Hi Lou, best of luck with it! I can't drink black coffee myself, but I think a splash of milk is allowed if you have to have it.

jinglewithbellson · 22/01/2019 14:20

I have a splash of milk in my tea or coffee but am drinking more tea as I like that string so less milk during my fast. Not too many but I need that and it's been working so far.
I was feeling floaty and light headed to start with so every morning I have a pint of water with a fizzy vitamin in it. That seems to have done the trick as I don't start the day dehaydrated.

I generally fast from 8pm till 12 next lunchtime and don't like to drink too much before bed or I'm up and down all bloody night Hmm

giantnannyknickers · 23/01/2019 00:01

I'm really struggling with the fasting at the moment. I'm trying to do keto in my fasting times and just end up being starving. Not only that I don't eat meat or eggs. Please someone give me some motivation. Only managed 14.5 hours fasting today. I was doing so well.

abbeydo · 23/01/2019 07:14

@giantnannyknickers make sure you're eating enough calories in your eating window and maybe move the window so you're asleep for most of it.

I fast from 12:00 until around 7 in the morning but if you're doing 16 hours then 15:00 until 07:00. I'm asleep for the worst part of the hunger. Sleep resets appetite too x

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 23/01/2019 07:17

Hi giantgrannyknickers, 14.5 hours is very good!

giantnannyknickers · 23/01/2019 07:31

@abbeydo I try to fast from 7pm until 11am and I'm so busy running around after my two under two that it's often 1pm before I have breakfast. So when it comes to 7pm I'm famished. And I'm stuffing my face during the 8 hours. I'd porridge and seeds for lunch today, than a yogurt, mango, and a MASSIVE veggie stir fry. Just craving ALL THE CARBS! So desperately want to lose baby weight and stop eating my feelings

abbeydo · 23/01/2019 08:34

Do you have any snacks to hand so that you're not too hungry at 1pm? Do you like soreen or something like that? Or full fat yoghurts in the fridge?

I've been eating terrible things in my window but fasting and exercising before breaking the fast seems to be working.

Good luck xx

giantnannyknickers · 23/01/2019 08:56

@abbeydo yes I've been working out when I can. I need to stock up on more snacks though you're right. Just feel the weight loss has stalled a bit

Genvonklinkerhoffen · 23/01/2019 09:12

I've lost 2lb in 2 weeks by doing this "loosely". Have downloaded a fasting tracking app and am off to the desert for a few months so should be able to really knuckle down.

Calorie counting had stopped working for me so fingers crossed this will be the regime that works.
