I think measured cheese is ok. Free rein cheddar is probably not so good! I have managed to convince myself that it’s ok and better than eating rubbish, but a) I still eat the rubbish and b) the multiple slices of cheese probably has more calories than the chocolate anyway!! So it’s a 7 day Brie-tox for me.....and I already know it’s going to be horrible.

Morning all!
I’m all ready and excited for bootcamp, weighed in this morning at 10.7.5 (which is rather a lot over where I want to be!) and although some is probably water retention, that’s pretty rubbish and a sign of all the rule breaking I’ve been doing recently. And I feel unhealthy and sluggish too which is as bad as the weight gain.

Anyway- onwards. Positive vibes! Thought I’d share this that I did last night, I wanted to really see how far I’d come and remind myself that this plan really does work if you work it. The first two pictures are me in 2017, and although I was never huge I was bigger than everyone in my family and all my friends, and I was so unhappy. The third is me, 2.5/3 stone lighter, 3 dress sizes smaller. It really is possible and it’s life changing.

Great photos bear! Amazing progres.

Well I weighed this morning and am 77.4 kg, so 2 kg gained in 5 weeks. Not good. However, it was 2 weeks of mostly eating out plus 2 weeks having my sister to stay (more eating out!) plus a bad week last week.

Probably soup for lunch, salmon and veg for supper. Will put it into MFP and see how many calories and carbs for the day.

Hope everyone has a good day.

onanothertrain · 22/10/2018 09:52

Are there any special rules for boot camp I should know about??

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/10/2018 10:58

Onanother not really. I think for me it’s about actually following the plan and not cheating. The opening posts of this thread have a brief rundown. Nothing fancy, just cutting the carbs and also key for me is counting my calories again and aiming for 800, drinking lots of water, and getting enough sleep as I’m sure that affects me more than I give it credit for.

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/10/2018 19:47

Ok end of day one, I’m on 1250 cals and 49g carbs. 14k steps (ran 5km this morning)

I was ok until about 3 pm, and I just cracked a little, very strong carb cravings. I actually didn’t have any carbs, just some yoghurt and some ham, but it did throw my plan askew. I then as a result had more veg than I’d originally planned for at dinner, thinking I’d rather have that as a measured increase, than end up off piste in the evening, and this seems to have worked. I’d forgotten how hard these first few days of carb detox are.

I really must get decent sleep this week, I slept terribly last week. It plays havoc with my cravings.

Hope everyone’s had a good day

Frenchfemme · 23/10/2018 11:11

OK yesterday was a bit of a curate’s egg - good in parts. The bought soup I intended for lunch was horrible (too sweet and creamy) so I threw it away - will stick to homemade in future! Had a bit of an upset in the morning so was feeling a bit fragile, which is no excuse for slipping but some wine was had at supper. Despite this, I finished the day on 1188 calories and 41 carbs. Not the intended 800 calories but not too bad a start. Hope everyone else had a good day.

Westwing1 · 23/10/2018 12:45

I agree with your sleep observation Bear. Decided my priority this week is no alcohol and in bed before 10 pm no excuses. I am certain it aids weight loss.

So, Sunday I did indeed avoid a lot of food, very generous lunch with nibbles, starter, main and pudding. At one point 3 large roast pots and massive Yorkie were plonked on my plate. I did pretty well (teenage son sat next to me and was v helpful) but got home to no cooking and no urgent homework for once as half term just started. DH had also taken Monday as holiday. DH and I opened a couple of bottles of wine and must have overdone it (wasn't keeping count) as Monday we both felt dreadful and it was a very carb heavy day around 1,600 kc just to aid recovery. We have sworn off wine for a few days.

Feel much better today and back on it. 1 coffee and 2 sausages so far today.

9st 5 lbs today, aiming for 8st 10 lbs and hopefully a 28" waist.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/10/2018 12:53

It definitely affects my will power west, I am having a real bout of insomnia this week too (often get this when I’m due on, but this month it’s bad and has lasted a whole week) and although I’m used to coping on not much sleep, I cope by eating crap, drinking too much coffee and generally being lazy. So it definitely helps me to get enough. I got the grand total of 37 minutes deep sleep last night, which is not enough! I’m going to listen to a hypnosis on Spotify tonight to help me.

Kept busy doing housework this morning, and just had fried egg, avocado and ham for lunch. I miss cheese!!!! Although I reckon I’ve saved about 500 calories already by not having it, because that’s how many ‘little slivers of cheese...’ I would have had by now and not measured or tracked.

OP posts:
onanothertrain · 23/10/2018 21:20

Finishing today on 900 calories, only as 400 yesterday as wasn't hungry at dinner time.
I've used a free app in the past for helping get to sleep. Think it was called headspace

Westwing1 · 23/10/2018 21:35

Good day here, fish and veg for dinner, glass of schloer and toddling off to bed.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/10/2018 06:54

Excellent, glad everyone’s doing well. I went over on calories yesterday, and didn’t fully track, but it was all BSD food and a cup of milk to help me sleep. Although, I did a ridiculous 20k steps yesterday doing housework and ran 5km, so I’m going to call it neutral. We had Nando’s sauce on our chicken last night, it was amazing!

I am hoping for another decent day today, my sister and niece are visiting which is usually helpful as they aren’t really snack/cakey type people, and that tends to keep me on track. Dinner will be Joe Wicks fish cakes which are delicious so I’m already looking forward to that.

I’m really missing cheese, far more than I thought I would, and it makes me realise just how often I must eat a small piece of cheese.

Westwing1 · 24/10/2018 21:19

Another good day, big feta, olive, tomato salad for lunch, fish and greens for dinner, haven't worked out calories but think it must be 800 ish. No alcohol day 3, off to bed with book.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/10/2018 21:50

Ok day for me, 1200 cals (I find it so hard to stick to 800!). 12k steps. No run today. Came on today which usually hugely improves my mood, my water retention and my cravings so hoping for a few good days now. Quite a difficult day with various stress including cat to the vet and little ds injuring himself dicking about! Never easy is it??

Need to do a few more days menu plan tomorrow and shop for the weekend, going to try the butcher for a nice steak for Friday!

OP posts:
onanothertrain · 25/10/2018 20:01

Not such a good day for me today. Burger and chips for lunch.
Never mind, back on it tomorrow...

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/10/2018 20:42

1260 cals today, more carbs than I should really (because I’m doing my long run tomorrow and I need the fuel!), 18k steps (inc 5km run)

I have finally cracked and had some cheese, (only goats cheese, that doesn’t count??!) but I couldn’t cope any longer!!! I’m addicted!

Tomorrow- no kids! Hurrah! Lovely 18km run planned on a new route, probably eggs for lunch, and steak for dinner. I haven’t been as strict on BSD bootcamp as I intended, hormones against me I think, so I’m determined to keep on track over the weekend and continue next week being strict. The weekends are my real danger zone, I tend to go totally off piste, but not this weekend- I’m really going to focus and stick to my plan.

OP posts:
Westwing1 · 25/10/2018 22:08

Hi all, Bear I find 3 days leading up to period and first couple of days impossible to be strict on carbs, hormones too strong. But - the following week is a surge of will power and calm.

We are in half term homework hell here. Teenager has been set a prep in 8 subjects, every single one is long and he is a willing soul but not fast by any means. 5 hrs monituring and encouraging today and that's just 2 subjects almost finished. I feel sorry for him as he only has one week holiday, is tired and just wants to carve a pumpkin! Wretched school has set too much work. So, my focus is adrift, honestly not sure what I have eaten today.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/10/2018 08:00

Westwing yes, I’m the same. Even knowing it and expecting it doesn’t stop me though! I find if I’ve eaten more carbs all month, it’s much worse on those key days as well. Poor Ds with with all that homework, my dd is the opposite, she gets hardly any at all and considering she’s in year 10 I’m a bit concerned about her GCSE’s!!

OP posts:
Westwing1 · 26/10/2018 08:57

My year 10 is up and doing a tonne of biology, it's just a grind.

Weighed and haven't lost an ounce, DH who joined in (principles but bigger portions) has lost 4 lbs! He is chuffed. I will plod on. This sometimes happens me, one week nothing moves and suddenly another week I lose 4 lbs. I am undeterred.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/10/2018 20:34

West I love your determination! I do find that increasing my calories a bit does make no discernible difference to my weight loss but makes the whole thing rather more enjoyable, so that’s always a possibility?

I have had nearly 2000 calories today (deliberately) and still nothing off plan, despite eating at Nando’s with dd at lunchtime (chicken thighs, macho peas, halloumi) and having a delicious steak for dinner. I did 28k steps (I ran a ridiculous 20km today!) and that’s why I’ve allowed the big feed. Aldi weighed in at my lowest yet, 10.1.4, although that was after running so it’s not exactly accurate.

Hope everyone has a good weekend

OP posts:
Westwing1 · 27/10/2018 14:41

Weighed this morning and have lost 1 lb. DH has now lost 5 lbs in 5 days, he has eaten double what I have! Still, we are both pleased. I am saving my calories for dinner, steak, lentils, spinach and sugar snap peas (love this meal), also planning 3 glasses of wine, should come in under 1,000 kc. I have slept better without alcohol this week but for some reason it doesn't show on the scales.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/10/2018 20:11

Lots of calories today, not too bad on the carbs though. I’m exhausted after a horrible restless night and have been thoroughly lazy as well (for reasons beyond my control, visiting people mostly), and feel horrible and sugary now despite having no sugary stuff. I hate the weekends, I hate how I just go completely awol. Dh buys crap food (kp peanuts, covered in msg, pork pies, crisps) and it’s just a constant battle against my willpower which I am too knackered to keep fighting. At least I’ve had no sugary stuff, but I guarantee that if there was anything here I would have eaten it.

Tomorrow: got to try for a bit of a fast in the morning, maybe eggs for lunch, avoid dh’s crappy carbs, and dinner will be roast pork with winter roasted veggies

Going forward to next week: DD’s birthday on Monday so inevitably there will be cake (but generally food should be ok), then the kids are off all week, then both Friday and Saturday we have parties/drinking. So not holding out much hope for a great week!

OP posts:
onanothertrain · 28/10/2018 19:01

I seem to have eaten constantly today so definitely had more than 800 calories. It's all been BSD friendly though. Really need to cut down the calorie count now and get back into exercise next week as I have done nothing this week apart from walking the dogs

thenewaveragebear1983 · 28/10/2018 20:10

God me too, onanother. I’m quite embarrassed how naively every Friday I say I’m going to try to have a decent weekend on plan and then just completely don’t! I’ve probably hit my tdee today, although I don’t add in exercise cals and I did do a 10km run and do 18k Steps. Even so. I have got to start having some degree of control at weekends, or I’m just simply regaining what I lose in the week and balancing out. At least currently it is balancing out!

This week, tomorrow will be ok (but probably cake/dessert as it’s DD’s birthday), tues/weds/thurs should be (will be) good, Friday/sat/ sun- in theory food ok, but drinking both nights, and therefore Sunday likely to go to ratshit nursing my hangover.

I’m not going to set unrealistic goals this week- my only goal is to get more sleep (go to bed at 9.30/10 every night), and to try to be on plan when I can.

OP posts:
Frenchfemme · 29/10/2018 09:38

Weighed this morning and am at 76.6 kg, from 77.4 kg last Monday. Was as low as 76.0kg midweek, but had quite a bad weekend with wine and some bad carbs. Agree with pps that I need to get a grip of weekends. Also need to start doing exercise, as apart from walking dogs I’m pretty sedentary. Here’s to a good week for us all,
