Hi everyone, I've had started ordered the bsd book on Amazon and am going to read it and start the 8 week plan hopefully by Monday. I have to do something about my weight and this seems like it could work? Does anyone have experience of being s pescetarian and doing this plan? Thanks!

fromnowhere · 29/10/2018 18:33

Sorry for all the typos - on my phone!

onanothertrain · 29/10/2018 18:49

Hi from not a pescetarian but I am a vegetarian and i've been following BSD for nearly 4 months. It's not difficult once you get into the swing of it.

fromnowhere · 29/10/2018 19:32

Thanks onanothertrain, my diet at the moment is really carb heavy and I'm sure thats why I overeat - lots of sugar highs/lows throughout the day. If I can give up my addiction to carbs I'm hoping it will sort out my weight long term, but the thought of life without bread and pasta is filling me with trepidation!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/10/2018 19:48

Today’s not been a very good day for me, many many carbs of all delicious varieties. So much so that there’s no point whatsoever in counting or even attempting to.

To quote Annie- toooooo-morrow, tooooomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow.....

I've had a good day. 780 calories, 30g carbs and day 14 of ripped in 30. Let's see how long it lasts!!

onanothertrain · 29/10/2018 20:32

from I loved carbs and ate way too many especially pasta. Can honestly say I haven't missed bread, pasta or potatoes. Although i have cheated and had pizza two or three times.
I'm much less bloated and feel less stodgy I suppose. The results are worth it and I noticed my face and round my middle thinner very quickly.

fromnowhere · 30/10/2018 01:01

I briefly tried low carb a couple of years ago and it did wonders for me, I felt healthier, more energetic and I lost about 7lbs in 6 weeks, but the weight loss was too slow and I got discouraged, fell off the waggon and now I'm here a stone heavier than before I tried low carbing in the first place!
I think it's a mental battle &for me not to binge on crap whenever I'm bored/happy/tired/upset (insert any other emotion here).
I just hope I'm ready to give it a real go this time as I'm so unhappy with how I look and feel about myself.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/10/2018 06:59

Morning. Feel yucky today, way too much sugar and birthday cake yesterday. I’m really struggling with my binge cycle at the moment, (by that I mean every day eating crap, making promises, eating crap....) so today it’s no promises from me. I can’t run today as I have hurt my foot, and in the night have pinched my shoulder.

Lunch- cold meat or egg and salad
Dinner- chicken and butternut Thai traybake which is from the Tesco magazine, provided I get chance to get out to the supermarket!
YouTube workout later if my foot improves

From this plan does work, and most people get really good results in the first few weeks especially. Even now after doing it 2 years I can lose 3-4 lbs in a week (after a holiday for example). But it is challenging to stick to 800 calories, I can’t do it now I exercise so much. It’s definitely worth a try, even if just to give you that initial boost.

Thanks bear1983 I'm someone who needs quick results to get me motivated. I feel much happier when I feel like I'm moving towards a goal and see it working, bit I am nervous about feeling hungry! According to Amazon the book arrives tomorrow so I'm going to spend this week reading and food planning. Failing to prepare is preparing to fail and all that.....
Good luck today!

saltmonster · 30/10/2018 11:08

So I've read all 12 of the BSD threads over the last couple of weeks and kept being like oh I wish I could do that, I wish I had the mindset to do that, I could never do that etc.

Anyway I'm here because instead of reading about everyone else losing weight, I took the plunge and started yesterday! So hi!

I've struggled with weight my whole life, I have ASD and struggle sometimes eating healthy things and default to salty carby junk after a meltdown or a tough day, I've had days where I've actually cried because I wanted crisps or chips Hmm and as such have a really big tummy.

I'm hoping that I will lose weight on this, but also teach myself that nothing bad will happen if I skip the salty carb I crave when I'm having a bad day and I hoping it gives me the confidence to try some exercise, I barely get a 1000 steps at the minute.

So here it goes my starting weight as of yesterday is 84.2kg (5ft3) and my eventual end goal is 69kg, I know I won't lose all that in the 8 weeks, but hope it will give me a push in the right direction!

onanothertrain · 30/10/2018 12:15

Hope you feel better soon bear
Welcome salt

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/10/2018 12:19

770 calories and 30g carbs for me today

Saltmonster · 30/10/2018 23:34

Thank you all for the welcome
793 today! I struggle with breakfast so just did dinner and tea, will work on having breakfast a bit later in the weeks!

Westwing1 · 31/10/2018 12:23

Hi everyone, welcome Salt of the 12 threads and Fromnowhere.

Finding it very dark and cold, makes me think carbs at every meal. I've stuck to BSD foods but eating a lot, gone for crazy portions, thirds of stir fry, seconds on chilli con carne (both no rice). Really enjoying spicy food right now. Weighed and I am back to 9st 5 lbs and in the bras I hate. My friend can't believe my bra size goes up if I gain 5 lbs but it really does. I really want to be 9 st again, lunch on Sunday with someone I haven't seen this year, childishly I did want to swish in having lost almost 2 stone but my spare tyre is too big. Halibut, roast peppers and sugar snap for dinner. I will work out calories and make sure today is an 800 kc day. If I am strict and get my lazy bottom onto the cross trainer I can possibly lose 3 lbs by Sunday morning.

Salt when I am having a good run I only have 2 meals a day, (200 kc for eggs or mushrooms late breakfast), (500 kc dinner of protein and green veg), (100 kc for a coffee and a teaspoon of peanut butter or a glass of wine). If you are happy with 2 meals I wouldnt make yourself go to 3.

Fromnowhere being pescetarian should be great with BSD. We have a great fishmongers near us and eat wild fish 3 times a week, big pile of green veg, small pile of lentils or beans and you have a satisfying meal under 500 kc.

*Oblomov18 tomorrow is 1st November, a new month and a new start?

onanothertrain · 31/10/2018 19:17

902 calories and 53g carbs today. Extra calories from pistachios and carbs from veg so not too worried about either of them. Was supposed to have a friend coming over for wine but she's cancelled so really I'm saving calories and carbs! Grin

Saltmonster · 31/10/2018 22:28

Just over! Grin 802 cal, 36g carbs and I went for a 20minute walk today, feeling good.

fromnowhere · 01/11/2018 07:00

Well done salt!

Question: to anyone who has been doing this a while - did you notice any improvements in your mood?

As I get older I seem more prone to bouts of anxiety, PMT, and just general mood swings. Was wondering if lowering my blood sugar might help with any of that?

NiceUnusualDifferent · 01/11/2018 08:31

Hi everyone! Just reading through this thread and the book with the idea of starting next Tuesday- when kids go back to school- until Christmas as my interim goal so around 7 weeks? I have 1st 6.5lb to get to my ultimate goal so a chunk of that would be great.
I’m going to plan my meals for the whole time before I start so I can tell myself what I’m having each day and be prepared etc. My downfalls are wine, sweets and potatoes but I’m hoping by planning before hand I can avoid any temptation. Does this sound feasible?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/11/2018 08:57

From I notice my pmt improves massively when I’m on plan properly

Nice that sounds like the perfect plan. I plan my meals a week in advance and calorie count them too (approx values) so I know how much I have to play with. It really keeps me on track.

Yesterday was rubbish, my shoulder still really hurts and I felt miserable as anything. Had friends over for lunch and avoided all the nice bits I’d bought, then when the kids went out T or T with Dh, I hoovered up loads of garlic bread, sausage rolls and sweet rubbish. Gah!
This morning I went for a gentle run, shoulder still sore but not as bad and it seemed to ease while running although now is painful. How long would you leave it (it’s only a cricked neck fgs) before going to the doctor??
As a result I’m feeling grouchy and stroppy. Dreading the impending weekend of two ‘dos’ as I planned to be super good in the run up and instead I have been pretty rubbish! I am very woe is me today, can you tell?

Listened to this podcast this morning, it’s a runner who uses the low carb high fat ‘way’ and there’s a lot of interesting science in it at quite a base level, if it’s anyone’s cup of tea?

runnersconnect.net/running-interviews/low-carb-high-fat/

(It’s not all about running, and he talks about ‘regular’ runners rather than pro athletes)

Morning everyone, Bear you do have my sympathy re cricked neck, so sore and annoying. I have never been to Drs for one but find it's 3 days of misery and then usually heals itself. Hot shower gives temporary relief.

Hi Nice, clear out larder of anything you know will wink at you (crisps in my case), keep a food diary, menu plan and you will do great.

Hi From, I am 51 and have some anxiety and racing heart at night, fine during the day, for me the less alcohol the better and getting out in the fresh air for a walk even a 10 minute one helps my mood massively, if you can exercise and get sweaty then go for it. It's boring but any exercise at all boosts mood. Pouring rain where I am but I will do some laps (walking) of the park with headphones on shortly. I don't have a sweet tooth but the BSD has helped my mood as I feel more in control and proud to have lost some blubber, fit in clothes I like again.

Not hungry yet today, may save calories for dinner, John Dory fillet, Spinach leaves, peas and feta dish, roasted peppers, large glass of wine.
