Well it’s been a lovely weekend but I feel overstuffed and over sugared! Had a terrible night’s sleep as ds woke throwing up at 3.30 and didn’t really go back to sleep!

So: week ahead. Meals planned. After not calorie counting now for 1.5 weeks I was feeling pretty secure that I could achieve the holy grail of not counting but also not going completely mad. Even though I have had lots this weekend I don’t feel that I’ve gone totally AWOL, and so from tomorrow I hope to be able to rein it right back in. I might count cals tomorrow just to recalibrate what ‘enough’ feels like.

Running/exercise planned too, at least for the next few days. We travel on Friday so I hope to do a quick run on the morning, and on Saturday I plan to use the gym on board the ship, but we’ll see.

I’m doing pretty well with the good habits such as drinking lots of water, only eating sitting down and not grazing, and eating when hungry/stopping when full so that needs to carry on this week too!

Dare I weigh myself tomorrow? I might not as it won’t be good, but will hopefully be temporary. I maybe will leave it til Wednesday to give myself a few good BSD days first!

Have a great week ahead everyone

I won't weigh myself until I'm at least two weeks in and noticing a difference in the way my clothes fit!

quince2figs · 30/09/2018 18:19

Hi all, haven’t posted as feeling my loss has slowed down - entirely predictably, as I still haven’t managed to kick the odd biscuit or square of chocolate. Teaching again last Friday, and in a repeat of the prior week, didn’t take a packed lunch, so had delicious but very carb-heavy hotel lunch and sweet things with coffee, etc.......
Feeling as if I should be trying a lot harder. Actually though, was very surprised that on looking at my weight progress on MFP, weight loss is more or less linear. I think I was weighing too often instead of just once/twice a week.
I have lost 5.3kg (just under a stone) since starting properly 1 month ago, and 9.8kg from my heaviest ever weight in January this year.
Really pleased, but aware if I was stricter could lose a fair bit more!
How are you all doing?

quince2figs · 30/09/2018 21:43

Btw Bear, the cruise sounds exciting; where are you off to?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/09/2018 22:06

Quince we’re just doing a taster cruise to Belgium, it’s only 3 nights. Excited though, Dh and I haven’t been away without the children for nearly 4 years so it’s a very welcome break!

Welcome kokoloco, yes your goats cheese is ok! I love goats cheese too, although I rarely eat it as I’m the only one at our house that will even touch it.

Quick run this morning, then off to the supermarket. Few things to try this week: Tesco have lots of freezer fish things, Young’s gastro, on offer so I have stocked up on a few of those. Really easy to throw in for dinners but they are usually quite pricey. This week they are 3 for £6.
Also got these beans from Heinz, a mixture of haricot and kidney beans, in chorizo and tomatoes. Tiny amount of sugar added.
And this cooking sauce which has no added sugar (very unusual for a pre made sauce), although does have some raisins.

You don’t want to know what I weighed this morning, it cannot possibly be real Weight gain, but even if it’s water/bloat it’s not good. So I’m paying close attention to my food this week to try to debloat!

I love goats cheese. For me cheese is what makes this diet bearable!

wowfudge · 01/10/2018 14:59

Had a good day yesterday and today is panning out well too. Made a pork stroganoff served with roasted cauliflower and mixed veg for tea which was very good and didn't feel like a diet meal.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/10/2018 19:08

I was doing well today until we shared the last wedge of birthday cake after dinner. But, well, no excuses. I shall try harder tomorrow!

I’m really enjoying those konjac Barenaked noodles/pasta; had joe wicks bolognese with mascarpone for dinner and stirred it all into my noodles, it was as good as ‘real’ pasta.

I certainly do retain a lot of water when I eat carbs, because today I was 3lb down (and yesterday wasn’t even a perfect BSD day)!

Today, quick hilly run in the dark this morning, wedge of cheese for breakfast, and now having brunch/lunch of eggs and chorizo beans, with some salad.

Koko, they are ok- but like all higher carb stuff (lentils, certain veg, grains) it’s stated in the book as ‘a taste, not the whole meal’ or words to that effect. I always use the menu in the book as a reference guide, so if In the 2 weeks menu he uses beans once or twice, then that’s ok to replicate. I wouldn’t use them every day. There’s no ‘free food’ on this plan- everything is restricted by both frequency and quantity (at least in the first 8 weeks), so although he uses porridge oats, quinoa, beans etc in the menus, it’s probably not ideal to have them too frequently.

You can use plain beans if you like them, but the ones i had were Heinz taco flavoured ones in spicy sauce (100g portion from a pouch) and they were yummy!

I’ve ended up eating rather a lot today, all on plan, but I had a moment of madness at the fridge where I did some damage to some cheese and yogurt. Not too bad really, but on top of my food today probably was just greed and emotional eating and I could have done without it. I ate some grapes today and they were sweet as honey, which I think is what may have unleashed my food cravings!

I’ve done 17k steps today though, 6.5 km run this morning, and my biggest thing at the moment is not beating myself for over-eating, so I am drawing a line and tomorrow is a new day!

I overdid the calories and the carbs yesterday - all because of an injured cat at the vet's and Sainsbury's lack of vegetable curry! She's okay now though and back home. I've had a few almonds late morning but no breakfast and actually I wasn't hungry. Will be back on track for the rest of the day.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/10/2018 17:43

Ah wow hope the cat is ok?

Reasonable day for me, although I have been picky all day. I’ve had to constantly remind myself that I’m not supposed to be in the kitchen, but given the choice I could quite happily have scoffed absolutely tonnes of food. I think it may be because I am rather stressed with packing and the logistics of the children and our weekend away, plus other minor stresses (all hugely first world problems) and made the mistake of writing a list which only compounded how much I have to do, and how little time.

Oh well, I will persevere. I have PTA meeting tonight so I am going to kill 2 birds and run there and back. Tomorrow I have various things to do but at least they are outside the house and away from the fridge!

Binged hard last night on a carb fest but then down 2lbs on the scale this morning. Very odd. Anyway, that’s half a stone in just under a week and I’ve snuck back in to the 13st bracket. I’m not looking at it now as an 8 week thing but as a way of life, allowing for the occasional carb load like last night. I really need to get back running but there aren’t enough hours in the day!

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 04/10/2018 08:42

Just under 2 weeks that should say!

onanothertrain · 04/10/2018 08:55

Congrats on your loss ginger

wowfudge · 04/10/2018 09:57

Apple and almond butter for breakfast today. Feeling pretty good about things as I tried something on last night which unexpectedly fit me.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/10/2018 11:55

Well done ginger and wowfudge

Trying very hard to keep the calories lowish today, I seem to be slipping back into eating for the sake of eating and I know I’ve gone way over every day this week. (Not over tdee, but over weight loss level!) I feel grouchy and stressed out today about this weekend away and all the organisation of the kids and house etc, which doesn’t help at all. Plus I have the tail end of this cold which seems to have lingered for weeks. Feeling sorry for myself, can you tell?! Planning my long run this evening once Dh gets home which should make me feel better.

Dinner tonight is just a simple chicken wrapped in bacon with salad, and I’ve had my usual brunch of eggs, cheese, ham.

Hope you feel better soon and have a great time away bear

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/10/2018 15:42

Thanks on

I’m just in a right crabby mood today, I can feel I’m being a total mare and I don’t even know why. Also about 20 times I’ve gone ‘I’m just going to have a massive binge on toast and chocolate’ and then gone ‘nope, actually I don’t want to do that’ but the constant angel/devil dialogue is wearing me out now! Isn’t it totally horrible how our emotions dictate our food choices, and how hormones/tiredness/stress affect our emotions? Classic emotional eating danger zone here today!

OP posts:
GingerAndTheBiscuits · 04/10/2018 18:43

I find that really hard too, and the beating myself up after it. Trying to learn to let it go and accept that overeating happens, but it doesn’t mean I have to happen every day.

onanothertrain · 04/10/2018 19:19

I've had a pretty good week so far apart from wine on Tuesday night. It's much easier to follow the plan when I'm at home.
Today was 53g carbs and 900 calories, a walk with the dogs and RI30.
