Ok, menu is all planned (used a Dukan diet cook book but it wasn’t really BSD compatible (too much low fat and artificial sweetener) but I have some good ideas which I have tweaked to BSD meals). Shopping list written ready for tomorrow. Once again I have planned to about 800 calories, but will allow 1200 so can add in either a couple of eggs in the morning or something in the evening each day.

I know I shouldn’t dwell but I’m peed off with myself for going so off the rails today- I could have clocked up a really good weekend but instead I’ve just been a piggy! I’ve still not exceeded my TDEE but I feel miffed that I’ve took my eye off the ball. It’s always always the weekends that throw me off, or more truthfully, when I throw myself off, so this week I’m going to do a bit of soul searching as to why this is and what I can do to prevent it.

Anyway, enough. Onwards good BSDers, hope you all have a great week!

You too bear. Your loss is fantastic (as is that picture!).
It’s hardly surprising that so many of us derail at the weekend, as most people are eating more elaborate food, family and friend invitations, relaxing from a busy week (I know many people work shifts, but at least children off).
Also, if we weren’t fairly easily tempted, then I guess we wouldn’t be needing to lose weight...
Closing on a much better 883 calories and 72g carbs today. Strangely, almost a relief after yesterday’s binge. And another 0.5 kg off in last 4 days.

lasttimeround · 10/09/2018 08:34

Well done quince
I did qn oug of interest weigh in today and my weight is up. By almost 2 pounds. Im guessing its the effecrs of sugar alcohol and sweeteners rather than the eatibg itself which was more than 800 but not weightgain territory.
But its a lesson that even on this plan scale weight wont only go down or sts. And the scale is fickle.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/09/2018 20:39

1240 cals today, 40g carbs. 15k steps (no run, rest day today).

I had liver and bacon casserole for my dinner, it was delicious. Love the autumn stodgy comfort food!

The weekends are a mystery really- it’s as if a little voice inside just says ‘go for it, it’s Saturday!’ And it’s just become what I do. I thought not drinking would help but it didn’t really. I’ve booked my hypnosis for 19th so I will bring it up with her and hopefully she can help me!

Managed last 2 days around 1100 cals and 55g carbs and 35g carbs today. Keep telling myself it can’t be that hard particularly now I feel like we’re on the sort of countdown for Christmas- I only need to lose a lb a week to get to my goal by then!

HalloumiGus · 11/09/2018 07:37

Hello. 'Tis I, the artist formerly known as ChocEgg. I am still wildly off piste but creeping back in as I need to restart badly. You had all fallen off my TIO Blush I've spent a week madly getting the house sorted and now am sneaking back towards the BSD! Trying to get my head back into it and to be honest I feel so tired and rubbish from all the carbs that it should be easier than it is.

swissmiss99 · 11/09/2018 08:25

Hi there, can I join your thread please? I have been 5:2 ing but seem to be going nowhere. I think my body needs the consistency of the BSD. My partner has annoyingly lost a lot already and I keep on losing and then regaining the same 2 kilos! I normally fast too so will keep doing 16:8. Just preparing my weekly shop list and has been great to get ideas on this thread. I have about 16kg to lose (35lb). Looking forward to being lighter (my knees will thank me too!)

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/09/2018 18:03

Hi Swiss and Halloumi !

Closing the kitchen on 1300 today but a whopping 130g carbs! And I didn’t even have anything off plan- just butternut squash which I suppose is quite carby, plus 20g lentils to bulk out a bolognese. Wow! Just shows doesn’t it?

18k steps today, ran this morning plus walked into town and back, plus school run- so a busy day hopefully to balance out the carbs!

Im having a difficult week. After weekend woth parties i stepped in last minute to provide food for my community group yesterday. Last minute meant buying pizza. Sigh then someone brought cake. Im planning to be v strict until next official weigh in.

onanothertrain · 12/09/2018 08:24

Hi all, now on week 10 and going to up the calories a wee bit seeing as I'm off on my holidays today. Stepped on scales last week and estimate my weight loss to be 2 stone. I've also been taking measurements and have lost 22.5 inches altogether which I'm delighted with. Just need to keep it up now!!!

Westwing1 · 12/09/2018 11:41

Hi everyone, well done onanothertrain fantastic results.

Had 3 iffy days here. No binges or disasters but pmt, period late, have craved carbs every day and had some. Generally hungry and eating 3 meals a day. Tummy popped out and I look pregnant. Weighed and I am 3 lbs over my goal weight. It feels like 7 lbs.

Slept well last night, feel less terrible today. Friday I have to look smart so really trying to have a couple of strict days. I did 30 mins on cross trainer and had water and one scrambled egg for breakfast. Going to watch hockey match and skip lunch. Dinner is 2 lamb chops, mushrooms, mange tout, roast toms and onions. That's the plan. Hope I can stick to it.

IJustWantToWearDungarees · 12/09/2018 13:19

That picture is fantastic bear! V motivating. It's made me decide to take some 'before' pictures, so I can (hopefully) see the benefits later on.

Finished week one: 6lb down. I am really pleased with that because we had a planned wobble at the weekend - we were hosting a party so ended up drinking and eating crisps. Cravings the next day were pretty intense, but think I am through them.

Bizarrely (and apologies if TMI) I have started my period today. Don't usually get them as I am on the mini-pill, but wondering if this is all part of my body adjusting to the new regime?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/09/2018 16:18

Weighed in post-run at 10.2 which is pretty much my lowest overall and is the end of my holiday gluttony gain. Now just to lose a few more before end of September to pre-empt 2 weekends of planned festivities- 2 birthdays (inc Dh’s big 4-0) one weekend, then a mini cruise so 3 days of all inclusive eating and probably large amounts of drinking. I’d love to be under 10 stone for that, just because it’s a milestone I’ve been battling against for a long time!

Dungarees it’s quite normal for your cycle to go a bit haywire when you start low carbing, I also find if I’ve had a big month of too much exercise it delays my period. I was 10 days late last month. It does settle down eventually. It’s to do with oestrogen stored in fat or something so when you shed loads of fat quickly your hormones go out of sync.

Closing the kitchen on 1300 cals, I allowed higher carbs as I did my long run (14km) so came in at 90g. My run did clock up 998cals though, and I’ve done 24k steps according to Fitbit, so that’s ok.

I am sticking to my menu very closely this week, but the addition of a few oats and some butternut squash is definitely bumping the carbs through the roof, even though they are technically allowed. I feel good though, more in control than I have done in a while, and more energy when I’m exercising. It’s been 12 alcohol free days now and I think that’s helping too, if for no other reason than my sleep is improving. I have been saying for a long time that I needed to increase calories formally rather than mindlessly scoffing extra out of desperation, so although this is something of an experiment, it is going ok so far.

OP posts:
quince2figs · 12/09/2018 22:26

Well done everyone on your losses.
Going ok here; am finding recording recipes on MFP is really helpful, and often surprisingly different calorie count from expected. Still not managing all days on plan, as when it’s a very long shift I often end up having something sweet in small portion, eg: 1 square chocolate or small biscuit. Sometimes still even within 800 cal.
Trying hard to kick this, but embarrassed to say quite how much chocolate or many biscuits I could easily get through in an evening before, and at least 3-4 times current calories...
Down another 0.7kg in last 2 days!!!

IJustWantToWearDungarees · 13/09/2018 09:53

Was doing super well and discovered I have lost another pound, making my total loss so far half a stone in just over a week! Was v happy, then went on the school run and a mum told me I have put on loads of weight and asked if I was pregnant. Just come home and cried. It really hit home how I must look to other people.

Westwing1 · 13/09/2018 10:24

What the heck! Seriously someone said that? What a completely stupid woman! Wow, there are some real fools out there. Poor you Ijustwanttoweardungarees. You have lost 7 lbs, it's a fab start, don't let anyone derail you. Keep on going and maybe make a note when you reach goal to swan past the village idiot in your skinny jeans or whatever. Stay determined. Flowers

Polpette · 13/09/2018 17:57

Ijustwanttoweardungarees !!!! What a stupid comment for someone to make! Please keep going with BSD and don't let this one idiot take away from your achievements.

I'm in phase 2 of BSD (total loss of two stone to date) so should be feeling proud of myself but I recently saw a photo of myself and just wanted to cry.

These moments are horrible and feel like set backs but all you can do is keep plodding along in the right direction and before you know it you'll be where you want to be.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/09/2018 18:28

That’s ridiculous dungarees and just ignore, ignore, ignore. Aside from the weight comment, what socially inept fools asks anyone if they’re pregnant!? It’s risky territory! You know you’ve done well, and there’s more weight loss to come so just hold your head high.

I’m closing the kitchen in 1450 today (oops) but 53g carbs. I would have been on target to 1200 but my dinner was so god damn delicious I had seconds- and I never have seconds. It was a huge veg stir fry with teriyaki and ginger and soy marinade, and chicken thighs marinaded in the same sauce and baked until really crispy. Yummy!!

12k steps (no run today)

Overall I’m feeling good this week- my meals have been delicious, i haven’t snacked or grazed at all, no alcohol and no sugary rubbish.

Tomorrow might all change- as I’m baking chocolate cakes for Saturday and to freeze for ds’s birthday. The weekend looming isn’t worrying me too much as it sometimes does, despite having a family party on Saturday. Hoping this nice calm BSD focus will continue.

IJustWantToWearDungarees · 13/09/2018 19:52

Thank you everyone for being so lovely. Am mortified by the comment but I guess it just shows how much bigger I am than people are used to. But I will get there!

Your stir fry sounds lovely bear! I had the veg frittata from the BSD book tonight which wasn't that exciting, but has filled me up nicely. Smile

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/09/2018 07:14

Good morning all.

Went awol yesterday- made 4 massive chocolate cakes and did sample a taste of cake mix (oh ok, I licked the bowl clean. Twice) and then had a bit of an on-plan calorie splurge at dinner, with a rib eye steak and a baked mini Camembert. Still no alcohol. Then stupidly ate some chocolate (dark, but it’s still 50% sugar!) which I didn’t need or want and now have a headache as punishment this morning.

Today we’re at a bbq lunch for my fil which should be ok food wise provided I say no to the cake and puddings.

Seasidedreamer · 15/09/2018 07:56

Morning all and welcome to Swiss and Halloumi.

Have had a stinking cold and drank red wine last night to cheer myself up. Have felt properly hungry this week and have been craving bread - specifically pizza or sourdough! But my weight loss is so noticeable now I’m trying to stick with it. Have bought some hi-lo bread from Sainsbury’s which I’m going to have today toasted with eggs and mushrooms so hopefully that will help. Also bought some Oppo cheesecakes in Sainsbury’s which feel like a proper treat and are 159cals /18g carbs.

dungarees what an awful comment. Ignore! Stick with it and in your mind stick 2 fingers up!

lasttimeround · 15/09/2018 08:27

Ive stayed the same this week. Bit disappointing as ive eaten under 1200 which should be low enough to lose weight. But I havent been focused about it dmx had too many carbs. I guess last weeks huge drop is being consolidated.
Keep going everyone. Ignore ignore all kinds of stupid comments and be focused on your aims. Flowers for us all not booze or chocolate. I am learning to do non food related treats.

CecilyNeville · 15/09/2018 17:11

Can I ask your opinions on something?

I know the basics of the diet, from the Trust Me programme and various articles, and from MN. Should I buy both the diet book and the recipe book? I was thinking about just getting the recipe one, as planning inspiring meals is the thing I find hard.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/09/2018 19:16

Cecily personally I would buy the original plan book, not the recipe book. Reasons being: there’s literally hundreds of delicious low carb recipes online. The book is a good refresher and easy to read so periodically when I’m struggling I take it to bed and read it again to remind me. And The calorie counts are way out in the recipes anyway.

I’ve eaten a lot of calories today. Had lovely bbq, no bread, delicious salads. Piece of Black Forest gateau. Then the floodgates opened and I grazed and nibbled and picked for ages. Oh well! No alcohol though at least, plus I had frozen a portion of a meal which I have just had to ensure I don’t continue grazing into the evening.

12k step, but 7.5km of that was a run, so basically I’ve sat around eating all day!
