Had a weigh in this morning despite saying I wouldn’t until Friday, and I’m 10.4.6. I’m not entirely sure how much I’ve lost because i’ve not recorded it properly but I was 10.10 on 29th August (With a bit of yo-yo-ing about in between), so 5.5lb since then.

Hi everyone, well done Bear, Quince and Last. I weighed this morning and am maintaining, really happy with that. I have been eating cold roast chicken leftovers or fish all week. I have also had a couple of glasses of wine and potato salad (I literally cannot cannot resist it, it's like chocolate cake to me). Finally a friend noticed I'd lost weight. I was so chuffed they got a big hug. Loving being this size, was miserable being heavier. It feels like I can get dressed quicker instead of working out which outfit looks least awful. I can be strict today as kids have a long school day and husband away.

lasttimeround · 06/09/2018 11:52

Gosh bear 5 pounds in about a week seems loads esp if youve been going for a while.
Maintaining is the big secret isnt it westwing? I'm hoping this is my last week of trying on stuff to see what i fit into before big meeting. Its something i actually find distressing. Have someing decent planned to wear gor whdn its importdnt to look right and then frantically improvising because something doesnt fit - like im not stressed about the meeting itself.
Maybe that sounds vain but im self employed and so many meetings are a little like an interview and making the right impression makes life much easier

Last I think it’s my holiday water weight finally going! I have been up and down pretty much the last 6/8 weeks so hopefully after this initial bit of water retention I will settle into a nice 1-2lbs a week!

Hello, could I join the thread please?

I've had a really pants few months - just come off a heavy course of steroids and still on antidepressants, both of which have helped to send my weight rocketing. Also had a family bereavement this summer, so watching my weight hasn't been a priority. For the first time in my life I am overweight. None of my clothes fit. It's horrible and I can't bear to see myself in photos/mirrors etc. I am also permanently exhausted - I can't get through the day without napping.

My husband and I started the BSD yesterday. He woke up this morning and found he had lost four pounds! I have lost nothing yet. How much did people lose in their first week?

Ideally I'd like to lose three stone, so it's a long journey for me. Currently still craving sugar massively, but I know it is early days.Smile

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/09/2018 17:35

Welcome ijustwanttoweardungarees. I don’t remember how much I lost in my first week but it’s not unusual to lose 5/6/7lbs if you follow the plan accurately.

I know it’s early but I’m closing the kitchen on 1666 cals and 55g carbs, 13k steps (no run today but a walk in the woods with Ds). I feel exhausted as I was awake at 10 past 5 this morning and all day I’ve been a bit snacky and tired. This has obviously shown in my calorie counts.

Positive things though: still weighing every morsel; lots of veg; lots of water. My dinner was delicious- braised red cabbage (just slow cooked all day with apple vinegar and cinnamon) and a cottage pie made with mince, lentils, and butternut squash topping. I actually only had half the portion I’d calorie counted for as it was huge and filling.

I’m sort of dreading the weekend looming- Dh will want a glass of wine which is always tempting, plus food often goes haywire. I have planned for tomorrow to minimise potential damage, and for Saturday.

Trying something new tomorrow, as I’m doing my long run in the afternoon; I have made overnight oats to have for breakfast with raspberries, to see if a) I run faster with fuel, and b) whether it affects how hungry I feel afterwards. Could be a dangerous experiment!

Hi Ijustwanttoweardungarees, you have my sympathy with the steroid meds and associated weight gain, my SIL basically ballooned having always been skinny (post leukaemia/bone marrow transplant), it's very hard.

It's great your DH is doing BSD too, my DH annoyingly loses weight at double the rate I do, different bodies I guess, don't let it get you down.

If you food diary, measure and weigh you will lose weight fast on BSD. If you throw yourself into it 100% it will work. As Bear says 5 - 7 lbs first week. Good luck.

lasttimeround · 06/09/2018 22:13

Surprisingly easy day for day 6 790cals 39g carbs. Lowest so far. I thought work meetings would be more challenging but actually there is less opportunity to eat. I ignored buffet.
Hi dungarees ive just started recently. Im so sorry for your loss and the hard time youve been having. I feel like today i finally turned the corner on cravings etc. I hope youll have a quick adjustment

IJustWantToWearDungarees · 06/09/2018 22:45

Thanks everyone! I have been pleasantly surprised by how full I feel on 800 calories a day, but I have been craving sweet stuff - which I guess only goes to show that I don't need it at all - it's habit rather than hunger.

V inspiring to read all your stories. Hope it works for me, too!

lasttimeround · 07/09/2018 07:56

My word - ive lost another kilo since yesterday. Tomorrow will be the end of week 1. First time ive stuck to a diet properly for a week. (Stuck to means anything up to 1000 cal in my book) its going to be the most weight ive ever lost in a week.
Quietly excited!!!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/09/2018 08:04

Lasttime well done Star it’s very motivating isn’t it?

That is amazing @lasttimeround!

I've got three pounds off this morning, on day three. Wooohooo!

But now had to come to a coffee shop to work and the torture of the cakes is extreme. Sitting here quietly with my black coffee trying so hard to resist...

Westwing1 · 07/09/2018 10:42

Ijustwanttoweardungarees black coffee, herbal teas, think about getting on those weighing scales and knowing you stuck to your plan. I am just home from 2 hrs in coffee shop (I don't like cake but I do like sourdough toast and cappuccino) and just drank herbal tea for the first time in my life practically. It was nice and I have saved calories for steak, lentils and veg tonight.

Westwing1 · 07/09/2018 10:44

Forgot to say congrats on 3 lb loss, great start!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/09/2018 22:15

Ok day for me, calories over but nothing too horrendous, 19k steps, ran 9km.

And no wine tonight! That’s the first Friday night in a long time, and a full week alcohol free.

Doing parkrun tomorrow morning with my friend and then will endeavour to stick to my calorie allowance a bit more rigidly than I have the last 2 days!

Week 1 done. Im down just a bit over 5 lbs. Even better is that its starting to feel easier. Im adjusting to the portions and planning.
The other good thing is that the occasional break is still well within my usual calorie degicits for weightloss. Yesterday i went ti a wedding party and had 1 glass (planned) and i slice of cake (unplanned i thought id just have a nibble). Recorded it on mfp and came in at 1300cals. Not great sugar wise and i am after the health benegits so its to be avoided. But a long way from entering my fuck it zone where im not seeing enough success to keep me motivated.
I have another party tonight and feeling i xan manage it.
Good luck navigating tbe weekend (scourge of diets!)

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/09/2018 16:13

Weighed in after running at 10.3.6 which is a good result for me this week. It does seem that increasing my calories to a more manageable level is not too detrimental and may even be beneficial so I’m sticking with that for next week.

Had a small non scale victory today- these are my decorating trousers, relegated to such because they were too small (in November 2016)- today I wallpapered Ds’s room and they kept falling down!

Hi all and welcome to the new joiners. More the merrier I say. Everyone seems to be doing well. last/just getting the first week out of the way is very empowering and I found it much easier from then on. I’m now trying to stick to 1100 calories which I’ve mostly done - well apart from being derailed last night by Sauvignon blanc/Rioja and lindt dark chocolate intense raspberry (delicious). Interestingly I pinched a bit of DD’s Lindt extra creamy which I used to love but really didn’t enjoy it at all so pleased with that. After saying I wouldn’t weigh in for a while I will do so tomorrow and then try, try and be good.

Any snack ideas? I’ve overdone the baby bel/dark riyvita and Cottage cheese/ hummus and carrots/berries and yogurt . I’ve also bought some grenade carb kills bars as lunch on the go and if calories allow will stretch as a snack and they’re useful when in the car a lot.

Great pic bear that must feel good.

quince2figs · 08/09/2018 21:04

Ohhhhhhh dear, the wheels have come off today. I thought I would ease up slightly and had bacon/cheese oatcakes (the pancake-style ones), which were delicious, and surprisingly not far off guidelines.
No lunch....then joined dc in having fish and chips. In defence, limited damage by very few chips, mushy peas and left half of batter. Couple of glasses of alcohol-free wine. Coming in at around 1400, unbelievably, expected much worse.
Back on it tomorrow!

lasttimeround · 09/09/2018 09:21

Im another derailed one. Party last night led to gin and then cake and sweeties. But but but ive totted up damage on mfp and think i come in around 1500.

lasttimeround · 09/09/2018 09:22

Brilliant non scale success bear. Im all inspired

Seasidedreamer · 09/09/2018 11:50

Well after being derailed again i’m another 1lb off this week so 11.7. Am really going to try and stick with it. What I find different about this diet is that I haven’t had a oh fuck it moment and have managed to get back on track every time I’ve gone slightly awry.

Westwing1 · 09/09/2018 15:50

Great pic Bear. Congrats Lasttimearound on 5 lbs loss. Maintaining here, gained 1lb, have had wine, some sourdough, snacked on cheese and not calorie counted but stuck to general principles, happy with that. Planning a strict week starting tomorrow and see if I can lose a bit more, my waist and tummy definitely have some extra there.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/09/2018 18:52

Really struggled today from about 1pm onwards. Had a horrible run where I just felt like my legs were lead, and then when I got back I was just on a sugar mission. Really felt out of control and horrible. My dinner was delicious roast gammon and veg but i’d sort of spoiled it for myself by going cupboard raiding beforehand.

I think I need a rest from running so won’t be running tomorrow. However, it’s Back on track from now. On the plus side I’ve had a very very busy weekend with lots of physical jobs, plus I’ve been alcohol free now for 12 days (which might go some way to explaining my pissy mood)

I need a decent night’s sleep and a fresh new day tomorrow!

I’m going to sit tonight and plan my menu- it really worked for me last week to factor in some extra cals but count everything before hand so it wasn’t a free-for-all.

OP posts:
lasttimeround · 09/09/2018 20:11

Ok closing the day on 1000 cals 70g carbs. Inching down on cals after sugarfest yesterday.
