Trout sounds delicious. Haven't had it for ages.

Cycled to and from work, resisted the gigantic shared lunch and took chicken wrapped in bacon with salad (leftovers from last night's supper. Ate a not very healthy peanut and choc chip bar and a bag of salt n shake crisps when I got home. Genuinely think I needed salt as I sweated buckets on the way home but could probably have come up with a better way if getting it.

Have courgette, mushrooms and a tomato and mascarpone stir in sauce planned for supper tonight. Hoping to end the day on 817 cal 42g carbs.

I'm a TA not a teacher Bear, so I love my job (although not the pay)!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/09/2018 18:51

Closing the kitchen today on
1088 cals, 41g carbs. Only 9.5k steps as I haven’t run today.

Feeling very positive after reading the never binge book, I went through the script a few times today when I was tempted to eat things that weren’t on the plan. I drank loads of water and weighed every morsel, even milk, before I ate it. No guesstimates! As a result I came in under my new limit of 1200. It would appear that I had been under estimating my milk usage by about 100 ml every day.

My dress arrived today for the black tie night on our cruise. It is very grown up and posh. I could do with losing a few inches off my tummy just so I’m not breathing in all night so that’s a great motivator to stick to it for the next few weeks.

690 calories 28g carbs and day 27 of 30DS.
Has anyone tried jillian Michaels 6 week 6 pack? I saw it at the weekend and thought about getting it to do next, I've got ripped in 30 but I'm not a great fan of it.

veryveryquietly · 03/09/2018 20:32

Just took two large bags of clothing that doesn't fit to the donation bin. Feels very virtuous.

Did ok today calorie and carb-wise. bear I didn't do formal measurements but I have had a sense of things changing from my clothing, so even if the scale hasn't progressed during this plateau I've been ok.

train I have that problem with alcohol now - one large glass of wine and I'm utterly blotto. So much for my tolerance.

Seasidedreamer · 03/09/2018 21:04

Hi all - just dropping by to say a quick hello. Have been super busy with family/house stuff and haven’t had time to post properly. Pleased to see everyone seems mostly ok. 16lbs lost for me now but have put myself up to 1100 cals as was finding myself increasingly ‘picky’ and hungry. A lot of friends/family have noticed now and I feel smaller but would still love to drop a size but I always struggle to get lower than I am now. Missing the odd piece of cake/ biscuit and need to cook some different recipes. Although did pinch some of DD’s dairy milk and thought it horrid. Wine still tastes delicious though! Really looking forward to casserole and soup season. Do need to get some proper exercise in at some stage.

lasttimeround · 03/09/2018 21:15

Day 3. 900 cals 60g carbs. Feel pretty quiet and calm alrho this is a challenge. Oddly i often find very low cal easier than a moderate deficit. Theres' no room to 'fit things in' so i focus on just not eating the crappy stuff and finding nice other food. Going through huge quantities of gum to combat the need to chew just now. Gross but works for me.
Managed some exercise today by which i mean a little at home exercise- altho inspired by the secrets of getting fit programme with Mosley on bbc.
Bear - i switched to soy milk as otherwise my milk usage creeos up. Lower in carbs and sat fat and better than skimmed milk which I despise. Although many dont like soy milk i rather like it.
Seaside a 16 lb loss is immense. Well done!!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/09/2018 19:56

A reasonable day today, although waaaaay over on carbs and a bit over on cals. I’d promised the dc a mcD’s and a sundae as it’s the last day of the hols, so while I didn’t have the mcD’s I did have the ice cream. I did calorie count it though, and was realistic I think about the calories. Didn’t have lunch, and also didn’t graze and pick all afternoon which would usually happen, so counting that as a win. Ending on 1380 cals, 15k steps (5.5km run this morning) and feeling ready for tomorrow!

Tomorrow- run first thing, halloumi and salad for lunch, and meatballs in basil, tomato and cream sauce for dinner.

Not a bad day here. Around 1150 cals/60g carbs. Now I’ve upped the cals I’m not getting on the scales again for a while since I know i’ll be upset if it shows a gain. This thread is helping me stick to it and for that I’m very grateful.

I too am getting through a lot of gum!

lasttimeround · 05/09/2018 07:38

Slightly off piste last night ate chili without weighung it and sure i ate more than i should have. But mid chili binge ate lots of spinach and at least it wasn't starchy carbs.
Its turning into a re-education much of the time. I eat. Thinm waaah its not enough and feel quite upset. Then i wait and within 20mins its usually ok. So the key thing is probably to weigh and measure portions before eating and resolve there wont be more. Otherwise when u start eating it feels like thus roller coaster starts inside me goung moremoremore!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/09/2018 08:07

Lasttime I get that, I am at my most vulnerable to scoff loads in the immediate 10 minutes after a meal. I’ve started leaving the table and going to do jobs to get me out of the kitchen because if I stay there to clear up I end up picking. Weird.

OP posts:
veryveryquietly · 05/09/2018 08:12

Yesterday had too many treats, was definitely over my new target of 1000 cals. Confirmation that if you have one sweet, you just want more.
Tummy is also a bit shaky, so a good reminder not to indulge.

However: looks like I'm back to actually losing again. Down 3 lbs since last Tuesday. It's probably water weight from being stricter than usual, but I'll take it.

Oblomov18 · 05/09/2018 08:13

Bought these from Sainsbury's.
The old one Bear recommended, they stopped selling in Aldi!! Angry

Had linguine one with meatballs last night. Enough left over for my work lunch today.

We eat a lot of spag Bol and meatballs, and I don't always have fresh courgettes, so having a dry cupboard back up might help?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/09/2018 08:28

Oblomov I’d forgotten about those, I still have some at the back of the cupboard I think! I tried those barenaked noodles yesterday (konjac noodles, they are basically zero calories -12cal per 100g) expensive for the pack and I have to admit I was sceptical. But with a strong flavoured sauce they were actually ok, no different to ‘real’ noodles. I am trying the rest of the pack tonight with my meatballs so I will report back.

OP posts:
lasttimeround · 05/09/2018 15:55

Ill have to look into those noodles sometime.
Serious question: why do people bring food round despite you saying you arent eating carbs and are on very strict diet and insist on you eating some? I think overweight people sometimes want a partner in crime but thin people why??? Do they just not get how hard it is?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/09/2018 16:07

Last they don’t understand. Simple. People who have never been overweight just simply do not get it. My mil is a prime example- she cannot see that if I start I won’t stop, and that it makes me unhappy. Let’s not even discuss my Dh who, and I quote, ‘doesn’t believe in calories’ - as in, genuinely, doesn’t believe that controlling calories will affect your weight.

And, I find, people who are on ‘try-ets’ not ‘diets’ (as in, I’ll try to lose weight until something comes along I want to eat and then I’ll find a reason to eat it- and we’ve all been there) really don’t like it when we decline cake because we don’t want it and we don’t need it- it makes them feel bad. It spoils their own experience of the cake.

Once in a restaurant I asked for my meal with veg not chips, and mil said ‘oooh you’re so smug aren’t you, making us feel bad’ so I asked the waitress to bring the chips in a bowl for the table to share and kept insisting mil had some. Because I’m a bitch - and funnily enough she hasn’t done it since!

Just say to yourself- 100% is the essence of commitment. We didn’t go into this planning to commit 80%. We promised ourselves 100% because that’s how much we want the results. And sod everyone else!

OP posts:
lasttimeround · 05/09/2018 17:51

You are so right about the 100% required in my case. Ive tried moderation over and over in different guises and my weight just creeps up again.
I must say I am rather cheesed off at having yet another carby goody in the house using up my willpower although dh will appreciate

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/09/2018 18:08

An interesting theory about willpower, translated into my own terms so bear with me-
it only takes willpower to resist things you actually want. You don’t need any willpower to resist picking up a chocolate off the floor of a public toilet (for example), because you don’t want it. Close your eyes and visualise that tempting treat in the most unappetising place. Really visualise it- the smell, the sounds, the way it looks.
It’s a really common hypnosis technique- your imagination is way more powerful than your will. I use this a lot (when I’m being good) and it really helps me.

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/09/2018 18:10

Makes me laugh about your Dh though- I said to mine watching bake off last night, where one of the contestants was saying how he baked for his wife, that I would actually divorce him if he baked stuff all the time. It would be bloody torture coming home from work to all that every day!

OP posts:
lasttimeround · 05/09/2018 18:55

Luckily dh does appreciate it tho. Hes thin the lucky lucky sod and loves this particular item. I would also look for ways of taking out a consistent baker. Reminds me of the baby years and cake/biscuits at every occasion with me always the mum who couldnt help finishing them off. Sleep deprivation makes my scoffing seriously take off.
I remember once going to someones house and her biscuits had gone stale. I was part 'wow how do you keep them long enough for that to happen?', part 'oh just hand them over I'll eat them all!' Blush

lasttimeround · 05/09/2018 18:57

I have now licked my plate clean. Downed a large glass of water and paced about kitchen. But i refuse to cave.
Kitchen is closed 900 cals 61g carbs. Day 5 done.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/09/2018 19:13

Last well done Star the first week is definitely the hardest with the cravings. Have you weighed in yet?!(I lose track on here of who’s done what!)

I’m finishing today on 964 cals, 33g carbs, 15k steps (5.5km run this morning). I’m finding 1200 much more manageable and therefore not derailing through hunger every evening. It’s probably only psychological but I feel less inclined to binge knowing that I could still stay within my allowance (if that makes sense?)

Not going to weigh in until Friday morning at least though, as I don’t like to break the spell!

OP posts:
quince2figs · 05/09/2018 21:58

Well done, last. I have found the first week pretty hard. I’m a complete food obsessive - love reading about and watching food programmes as well as eating. So the amount of attention to detail to still eat lovely food and keep within BSD pleases me!
However, I have been really hungry and craving carbs for the first 5 days, I would say. Not helped by having to give up my 3-4 takeaway lattes on work days, so knackered into the bargain. Have found myself prowling round several food shops at railway station on commute home, just to look at the food.
Last 2 days far fewer cravings, although still quite hungry when several hours past a meal.
Today very pleased to report 740 calories and 56g carbs - by far my best day yet......and 1.4kg loss in a week. So happy. Last time I weighed this was probably 5 years ago, and I am down 5.6 kg from my highest ever in Jan this year.

quince2figs · 05/09/2018 22:00

Oh, and 7920 steps today - managed just over 10000 yesterday! My job is very sedentary, but get in 6-10k walking to/from station 3 days a week.

quince2figs · 05/09/2018 22:10

Further 11kg loss takes me into overweight band, then 14kg more to the healthy weight band. Feeling at last that I can do this.

lasttimeround · 06/09/2018 07:10

Well done quince thats a phenomenal loss. I cant wait to break new ground like you are. Im still in the weight range ive been yo yo ing about in for a few years.
I do feel im gaining confidence that i can do this successfully but today is my first diet day with work meetings so more of a challenge.
Ive done a second set of at home hiit exercise yesterday. I plan to do this every other day. Its very quick which is a bonus i find 10000 steps takes so bloody long.
