Morning all.
I’m not going to dwell on just how much weight I’ve gained in the last two weeks, it’s quite depressing. I will say though, I am rather surprised I’ve gained quite as much as I have. I wasn’t terrible on holiday; yes I had a few treats and a couple of days off, but I didn’t go too crazy all week so hopefully it’s mostly water!

Instead, today is Day 1. I’m going food shopping this morning armed with my list; loads of salad, meat, eggs. Lots of new recipes to try. Dh still off work for another week and so we have a few days out planned, plus a few other events on the horizon in the next few months, so lots to be looking forward to.

Today will consist of a bit of a fast this morning, then I’m running at midday. Roast chicken for dinner with roasted veg and hopefully enough left over to make some chicken broth for tomorrow.

Hi everyone, good week for me lost 3. 75 lbs. Really pleased, no alcohol was key to sticking to it. My self discipline was good if I say so myself, I cut up chocolate cakes, buttered bagels, sliced pizzas without touching. I think it's just practice and hormones in the right place, maybe there was a full moon too. Feel really well ate tonnes of good healthy food. It is taking me longer to go to sleep without wine and I have a sl restless leg thing but otherwise all good. Traditional roast lamb dinner today. I am going to try another no alcohol week. Happy just to maintain this weight for a week.

Seasidedreamer · 12/08/2018 11:02

I feel your pain Bear. Have been very good all week with 800 cal days except for 2 glasses of wine on Friday night (still sub 1000 cals) and 4 glasses of wine last night (still sub 1250) and not a pound lost - but obv the plus side none gained. This is why I hate the scales. Still I don’t think the diet is hard as long as you can plan. I happily make non BSD food for my DD’s/DH without any difficulty.

Anyway, off to see a friend tomorrow for a couple of days. Have told her I am doing the BSD (she’s one that won’t judge) so should be able to stick to it. But even if I go slightly off plan I’m going to definitely get back to it on Wednesday as I can work round other events in the diary.

Well done West. I agree abstinence from alcohol really helps especially given its calorie value and makes you more likely to pick.

TheAmazingShrinkingWoman · 12/08/2018 11:20

Well Libra app now says N/A instead of a target date. So that's not good. Out for dinner at a friend's house tonight so will be no control over what I have. I will however have control over portion sizes. Will start 8 weeks again tomorrow. Will have tuna salad for lunch and lots of water all day plus a small protein snack at 5 so I don't go crazy when I get to their house. Aiming to do 10k steps today but it's absolutely shiting it down here. Maybe gym or treadmill.

And have now remembered we are going for tea and cake at a friend's this afternoon too. This is all so much easier when I'm at work!

onanothertrain · 12/08/2018 13:04

I had Fri and Sat as days off from sticking to 800 calories. Had about 900 on fri and 1300 yesterday, not including wine. Both days less than 50g carbs though.
Managed to sprain my ankle last night - probably wine related, so no 30DS for me today.

veryveryquietly · 12/08/2018 13:54

Hey all, I'm also trying reset my current 8 week rotation by starting again this week. Haven't gained but haven't lost this week, just the usual 1 lb up 1 lb down fluctuation since Tuesday, when I started to go haywire (fucking work schedule was no help). The usual story: too much wine, too much snacking, no gym, and then yesterday there was a Nutella ice cream shake. Which was simultaneously amazing and kind of nauseatingly sweet and cloying. I won't be having that again, but at the time it was really, really necessary.

So today's been better, with hummus and cucumber for a late breakfast and roasted salmon with tomatoes and steamed broccoli for lunch (and ok a glass of wine cut with fizzy water but yeah whatever). Going to do my best to get back to 850 tomorrow, and back on regular gym schedule. So let's call today Round 3 (Mark II), Day 1, and just chalk last week up to bitter (or rather too cloyingly sweet) experience.

TheAmazingShrinkingWoman · 12/08/2018 14:57

I'm going to add a bit of the approach from Never Binge Again and write down my rules for the 8 weeks:

Always:
Log everything on MFP
Eat mindfully
Start every day with a pint of water
Do 10k steps
Weigh myself and log my weight on Libra and MFP
Plan at least one day in advance
Post on the best thread on mumsnet every day for support

Never:
Eat wheat
Eat chocolate
Lie to myself

Sometimes :
Accept that circumstances have made 800 calories impossible and have 1600 calories on those days

8 weeks starting tomorrow. Will meal plan it in the minutest detail and will post starting weight tomorrow.

Amazing I have heard good things about that book! Not sure if I said upthread but I’ve booked a hypnosis session for the week before my next period to try and curb my insatiable bingeing in that week. It was really bad this month, enough to totally derail me for a whole week. I might try that book as well though. I don’t do it often but I seem to be in a bad cycle, and also in this kind of ‘well, it’s what I do’ kind of mindset.

It is very good for making you aware of your mental processes around food.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/08/2018 15:55

I will have a look on amazon. It’s funny because your list of everything you plan to do this week, I read it and I could literally have written it myself! (Except the water one, I drink gallons of water!). The biggest one for me which I would add to your list is to weigh everything before I eat it (i guess that comes under MFP tracking)- when I’m freestyling the first thing that happens is I find I’m not tracking during the day. I do a guesstimate in the evening. When I’m on it, the scales never go away, they are permanently on the worktop in the kitchen.

Hello everyone. I've lost 2lb in the past week so that's a stone overall. In 4 weeks so that's good. I still have a long way to go though.

Day 20 with no alcohol. So far today I've had 2 rashers of bacon, a fried egg, a Marmite cheese and a small handful of peanuts. Supper will be a tuna steak with garlic, chilli, lime and soy with green beans and chickpea mash.

I've meal planned all meals for the week and that feels good.

I feel good. So much of this is head stuff isn't it? Seems blindingly obvious but yet it just isn't when you're in it. Good luck to everyone starting again tomorrow.

TheAmazingShrinkingWoman · 12/08/2018 17:55

Well done Water, thats fantastic progress!

Westwing1 · 12/08/2018 18:01

Hi waterandlemonjuice your post reminded me that you are the counting alcohol free days person who made me decide to do the same, thank you!

It has taken me over 7 months to lose 22 lbs I think the no alcohol rule is what I needed to get losing again.

waterandlemonjuice · 12/08/2018 18:10

Westwing1, ah that's nice to hear! I have a countdown chart on the wall with WINE written on 21st September! (Love the West Wing btw)

onanothertrain · 12/08/2018 19:20

Last day of week 5 today.
43g carbs and 768 calories

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/08/2018 20:54

Well done onthetrain, you are consistently keeping to the calories aren’t you? Have you weighed in? I bet you’re losing a fair amount now!

West wing and water, me too. Alcohol really does throw me off kilter. Especially wine!

I’m closing the kitchen today on 1200 cals, 29g carbs, 15k steps (7.5 km run). Pleased with that as a first day. I ate good meals, no snacks, lots of water and generally felt good.

We’re going to ikea tomorrow. I can’t make any meatball related promises....

Oh my god. Gorgeous meal - pear and blue cheese wrapped in Parma ham, scallops with wine and cream, boeuf bourgignon and dauphinouse potatoes, sponge cake with strawberries, creme patisserie and marzipan. Aperitif, wine, gin etc.

Good last blowout I reckon.

TheAmazingShrinkingWoman · 12/08/2018 23:40

Oh yeah, and brie etc and crackers.

TheAmazingShrinkingWoman · 13/08/2018 07:55

13 stone 13 pounds. Ouch. But restarting today, meals planned and raring to go.

onanothertrain · 13/08/2018 08:45

Thanks bear I'm sticking to the calories 6 days a week and the carbs every day, still having wine or gin on a saturday though Grin. I don't have scales at home and was probably too much in denial to use the ones at work. I have taken measurements though and have lost 13.75 inches in 4 weeks. I'm going to try and weigh myself at the end of 8 weeks as I've a target weight in mind.

ChocEggNoThanks · 13/08/2018 09:17

Creeping back in shame faced, weighed down with crisps, gin and guilt! Had one last mad week of indulgence last week as we went to visit friends but I need to draw a line under it all - I have put on 8lbs since the start of summer. So, time for a reset!

DandelionAndBedrock · 13/08/2018 10:13

I came here for penance but so glad to see I’m not alone! Project Abs is not going well - lots of gym classes but also weight gain...was DP’s birthday yesterday so hope it is mainly water weight from cake, not cake weight from cake Blush.

Going to give away all left over cake today and give myself a decent week. The plus side, though, is that my improv tape measure seems to have my waist as not having gained. And DSis saw me get changed the other day and said “My god, where has your tummy gone?!”

Have a good week, everyone.

ferntwist · 13/08/2018 10:40

Joining the thread and inspired by the posts. Planning on losing a stone of baby weight in time for my little one’s christening next month.

NoUnderpantsinSpace · 13/08/2018 10:53

Morning everyone!

Well, 5km walk done this morning and I need to get moving for some appointments this afternoon or I will be screwed.

I don’t feel I ate loads over the weekend. Yes over 800cal and yes there was cake and other carbs... but I’m trying to get back on it today and hope I can still get good results. Once this week is out of the way then all birthdays etc are done for a while and I can really focus.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/08/2018 11:01

Welcome fern, well done everyone.

After running this morning I’m now only showing a 3lb holiday gain which shows how much of it is water weight! I think the rest is actual ‘cake weight’ (™️ dandelion) but that seems a lot more realistic to shift.
