I'm on day 4 and have the headache from hell!! Tell me it passes....pleeeeaaaasssse!!!!

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 08/02/2018 10:01

Neenook it does pass. Up your salt intake and/or your water and it will help with the headaches.

bridgetreilly · 08/02/2018 11:14

Yes, Neenook, you'll get through it! Definitely agree on salt and more water. Have a few salty peanuts, maybe?

Neenook · 08/02/2018 12:24

Ooh love peanuts! Have hit it with paracetamol and nurofen so it's subsided a bit now!

londonista · 08/02/2018 12:38

NeeNook, I suffered all of last week, and it was only on Tuesday that it went away (i'm in the middle of my second week on BSD).
Personally, I put it down to the huge amounts of sugar I used to eat. I was completely expecting to suffer and I did.

I'm still suffering with bouts of nausea and diarrhoea but I'm sticking with it, I can feel it working. Today is the first day I've not felt tired and/or crippled with hunger though, so I feel like I'm making progress.

Coat update: I can now comfortably do up all the buttons on my "fat coat". Aiming to ditch my "fat coat" altogether ASAP, and go back to my normal coats, none of which I can button/zip up at all at present.

bridgetreilly · 08/02/2018 12:49

So, in my quest to find some BSD suitable ready meals, I scoured the aisles at Tesco today. I normally cook, and that's fine, but I've got a couple of really long work days coming up where I know I won't want to. Anyway, I have a couple of recommendations:

For lunch, I just had the Tesco finest antipasti. About 450 cals but less than 4g of carbs. And seriously yummy. If you're needing fewer calories (I didn't have breakfast today, so I ate it all), you could give a few bits to someone else. Also, the website says £3 but it was on offer for £2 at my local Tesco.

I also bought the Tesco finest pork meatballs in red wine gravy. Half a pack is 285 cals and 6.3g carbs.

And some mediterranean veg for roasting to go with them. Half a pack is 70 cals and 11.8g carbs.

Not cheap, I know, though if you get the meatballs as part of the £10 deal and give the rest to carb-eating folk, it's not too bad. But I figure that I'm spending so much less on food at the moment anyway, it's okay to buy nice things.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/02/2018 13:31

They sound good bridget and it is always handy to have things in the freezer. I buy the plastic takeaway style pots and I also hoard jars which I use to freeze portions of everything! I’ve just cooked two massive bolognese-ish sauces, one for the family and one bulked out with lentils, grated veg, olives and anchovies which I hope I can get 4 decent portions from. So useful to have in the freezer. The other thing I like is those, (very retro!) little square cod portions with cheese or parsley sauce, they are delicious just served on a big pile of veg.

Oh, the fish is a great idea! I didn't think to look at that.

Oblomov18 · 08/02/2018 16:00

Just checking in.
I have put on another 2lbs.
Will go back and read thread now.

veryveryquietly · 08/02/2018 17:02

Have had a terrible couple of days with cravings so clearly need to rethink the breakfast issue. I was actually doing better and craving less on days without breakfast, and need to go back to that.

Wretched day today of mostly grazing because overslept and was only able to pack hummus, cucumber, almonds and cheese for lunch - added up in terms of calories and nutrients, but didn't feel like a proper lunch. Just had a mug of miso as I'm off to a film and need to sustain myself until it's over.

Also now shooting for less than 40 gr carbs per day, and ideally less than 35, to see if that kickstarts stuff again, as loss has been going very slowly in last week.

Yesterday was the end of Week 5, and from the end of Week 1 to the end of Week 5 I've lost exactly 25 lbs. It had better be 2 stone by the end of Week 6!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/02/2018 17:47

Hi oblomov, I was thinking about you today when I saw edamame and soy pasta in Tesco! I’ve also just had some red lentil pasta and it was lovely.

Very I’m also on week 5 (I think?) and I’m struggling too. It’s not that I’m craving carbs per se, but just I’m finding myself in the kitchen! I’ve noticed that today I have been thinking ‘food’ when actually I’m not hungry and I’ve had to actively distract myself, not always successfully. I wondered if perhaps it’s my body fighting the low calories a bit, and particularly the small portions. I wonder if there’s an addictive element to overeating and eating until stuffed; it’s one of the things I often crave on this diet.

I’m closing the kitchen on 820 cals, 58g carbs (14g fibre), 12k steps including a 3k run- so actually a successful day, although I feel like it’s been a rubbish day???

I really need to get myself sorted for the weekend of it could all go horribly wrong! Saturday is going to be over on calories but hopefully I’ve managed to curtail too much excess with my menu. Tomorrow could be tricky!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/02/2018 17:51

Also very, that’s a great loss! It’s very common to plateau on this plan, especially after a big loss in the early weeks, so don’t be too hard on yourself. 25lb in 5 weeks is amazing! Everyone will want to know how you’ve done it Wink

bridgetreilly · 08/02/2018 19:25

I'm on week 5 too, and also noticed that I've been letting portion sizes creep up. The habit of eating when I'm not hungry is pretty ingrained and I need to break that. More positively, after some really up and down weight over the past week (period-related, I guess), I'm now properly on the downward track again. I'm hoping to hit 21 lbs by the end of this week, which takes me below the next milestone amount.

Keep drinking lots and also remember to check body measurements even if the weight isn't changing. Sometimes that's where you see the change happening. I'm wearing a skirt today I haven't worn for ages because it had got too tight.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/02/2018 19:46

I cracked. I ate some chocolate, it wasn’t even nice, and then a sausage roll and some cereal. Nothing really too horrendous, but still......

It’s been brewing for a few days so hopefully that will have got it out of my system now! Just made my weekend a whole lot more difficult haven’t I??

Hey Bear and everyone else.

Have finally caught up with all your chat.
You guys really do make me laugh - the sourdough bread in backpack, for middle class kids. Nearly stealing 🍟 chips off passenger on bus.

Ha ha.

Well done everyone.

ICJump · 08/02/2018 20:24

I came in to report cherry news but it seams a bit rude as everyone is struggling. So I’ll temper it a bit.

On Monday I was still dealing with weight gain from Friday night! This morning I’ve lost weight and hit a mile stone of reducing my BMI by 2 points. I’m 1/9 into completing my goal for 2018

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/02/2018 20:29

That’s great ICJump, it’s motivating to hear good news and reminds me why I need to do this!!!

I’m ok really, just knackered. I guess it takes its toll doesn’t it? Looking back through my Fitbit stats I’ve been eating only half my daily expenditure or less every day, I’ve gone from couch potato to running 5ks in 5 weeks, plus running around after 3 kids, one of whom wakes up every single night of his life- so it’s no wonder really that I was broken by the carb monster.

I’m going to get an early night and I’ll be back on track tomorrow!

londonista · 08/02/2018 21:13

Aww Bear Thanks
Honestly if I had 3 kids I would have my face permanently pressed into a biscuit tin...

The two I have keep me busy enough. I have finally managed to break the habit I had of standing over the bin eating leftovers off their plates. I've made more effort with meal prep, making it look nice and sitting down at a mostly tidy table and taking proper time over it. Helps me to savour it, and overcome the feeling I've not eaten!

veryveryquietly · 08/02/2018 23:15

Hurrah IC that's fantastic! Be excited about your progress - it's great to hear other people are moving forward!

Thanks bridget and bear and everyone for the reassurance. It hasn't helped that I've had a bad week at work (way too stressful) but I think I'm back on the upswing now. For me too, it hasn't been hunger but just the desire to eat and be eating. But on the good side I wore a fave dress the other day and it fit much better. So trying to ignore the wobble and keep moving.

Finished today around 925 cals and about 42 carbs, which is fine but will do better tomorrow. Have packed a filling and balanced lunch with lots of protein (spinach salad topped with a roast chicken breast wrapped in parma ham) so I don't end up grazing and unsatisfied, which was today's problem.

veryveryquietly · 08/02/2018 23:48

Will stop spamming thread soon, but also think this week's weirdness has to do with realising it's great I've lost so much so far, but I have a looooong way to go. Like, I really need to lose 100 lbs total. But at least I'm a quarter of the way there, and much faster than I expected. And I feel much, much better already, more energetic and active, and that's what really matters.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/02/2018 16:56

I just cannot stop eating today! I forced myself to do a run to offset some of the gluttony, but it didn’t help. I don’t know what’s got into me! I’ve mostly had cherry tomatoes and cheese, but if I’m being honest that’s because there’s not much else (one benefit to putting the kids on a sugar free diet I guess!). There was a miniature Lindt Santa in the back of the cupboard so I sort of fished it out with one hand and binned it so I wouldn’t eat it. What is wrong with me???!!!

We’re having rib eye steaks tonight, which I’ve now downgraded to half a steak with salad instead of full steak with celeriac chips to compensate. I shall have to resort to some teeny weeny nouvelle cuisine meal if I carry on like this....

I ignored a beige buffet! Stuck to carrots, salad, cheese and carrots! No pork pie. No cocktail sausage. No sausage roll. NO CRISPS! God i wanted a pork pie Sad

winkywinkybumbum · 09/02/2018 20:25

One of those carrots should've said hummus.

ICJump · 10/02/2018 01:02

NSV I got a litre of milk for my coffee last Saturday. There is still enough to get another couple of days out of it! When I first started I realised I was having at least a cup of my milk a day.

londonista · 10/02/2018 09:13

Anyone else cold all the time?
I don't seem to be able to get warm.

I've got muscle cramps as well, I think I need to start taking a multivitamin don't I.
