Anyone doing it and can give tips please? I know it's where you only eat in an 8 hour window but wondered if there's anything else I should know?

also feeling crummy because I realised my polyester dress, which I thought was silk, was making me smell awful this morning - so I ran into Primark before work - it being only shop open - and grabbed something in cotton denim to buy off the rail. Got it to my office - put it on. It is loose on my bust and tight on my thighs and is a size.....16. Wail......

iknowimcoming · 23/05/2017 10:48

I'm feeling a bit meh since my weight seems to be a bit static following an initial 5lb loss BUT I took a photo of myself in my gym gear on day one and day 14 yesterday and there is a noticeable difference in the flab around my middle (dh confirmed this and he is brutally honest so must be true). I am really impatient and want to see instant results but have to keep reminding myself that it's about health as much as weight loss and the fact that I have quit sugar and processed foods must be a good thing - right? DS made feckin chocolate brownies last night for school and I have resisted so far - I WILL NOT BE THE FAT WOMAN AT MY BROTHERS WEDDING! Grin

BlaWearie · 23/05/2017 19:36

I don't know about cutting down to two meals a day; I feel like I'm constantly grazing during my non-fast hours. Today I had porridge, a panini, scrambled eggs on toast and a stir-fry with noodles. If I don't eat like that I can't make it through the evening. There's no way I can lose weight with that lot!

iknowimcoming · 23/05/2017 21:11

I find two meals a day fine - today I had a mozzarella, bacon and avocado salad and then some berries and cream for lunch, a handful of nuts around 6 as I was going to eat tea late then a bowl of soup and a small square of ds's brownie for my tea (first sugar I've had for a fortnight - was honestly quite meh about it, maybe I can get control over this Confused)

timeforabrewnow · 23/05/2017 21:17

Noooo - sugar will control you!!

Hehehe

timeforabrewnow · 23/05/2017 21:20

Well, it controls me Sad

ElspethFlashman · 24/05/2017 08:44

Ive lost 4 pounds! From just not eating in the evenings?! I'm shocked!

iknowimcoming · 24/05/2017 08:46

Well done Elspeth! Grin

RitaMills · 24/05/2017 09:13

Well that's one week down and I've also lost 4lbs. That was with a relax day on sat, It's normal for me to have an alright weight loss on the first week, I'm expecting it to slow down to 1-2lbs each week from now on. Still isn't too bad considering I'm eating what I want in my eating window, I'm not doing any calorie counting or low carbing. I wish I could give up sugar but even the thought of it makes me feel anxious Confused

ElspethFlashman · 24/05/2017 10:02

Well we're having our Wednesday wine night tonight and watching Creme de la Crème which means I'm definitely getting some ridiculous pastry in. So I'll probably put 2lbs of that back on!

But I don't mind. I'm finding it great. Last night I was quite peckish but a big cup of tea with lots of skimmed milk sorted me out quite well.

Cluesue · 24/05/2017 10:16

What can you drink in your fasting time please,My tea fills me up but that contains sweeteners and a quarter pint of semi skimmed milk (big!!cup) which I assume defeats the object.Tia

Whitecovers · 24/05/2017 10:24

I've been lurking here for the past week and given the 16:8 a go. Have lost 6 lbs over the week! But can't really feel it in myself yet.

Have I got it right if I finish eating my tea at 5pm I can eat again at 9am??

God knows how but I seem to be managing it quite well, am also calorie counting during the day.

Cluesue, I think you can drink water, black tea/coffee and green tea? But I'm only just dipping my toe in the water so might not be correct.

AnnaT45 · 24/05/2017 10:24

Hello, can I join please?

I started doing 16:8 earlier this year before I went on holiday. I lost about 20 pounds in two months and still had a cheeky treat (wine or chocolate) everyday! But since holiday my kids have been sick and I've fallen off the wagon and gained 8 pounds back so need to get back on it! My baby has just broken my scales though so need to buy more to keep me motivated!

I do 1-20.30 generally. I just full up on black coffee and water in the morning. I have a 9 month old and an almost 2.5 year old so I find easy to keep busy! I have to count calories on it or else I just stuff my face in my window. If I didn't count calories I'd probably still lost but be slower.

I absolutely love this diet and think after two weeks of being strict it does start to become much easier. I've got loads of hen dos and weddings coming up so need to be really good when I can!

ElspethFlashman · 24/05/2017 10:35

Clue you're really only meant to have tea or coffee with a splash of milk or water etc.

No coke zero!

I use milk but switched to skimmed as I don't notice any difference in tea. But I don't use sweeteners. I also keep the tea to only one cup in the morning and one in the evening otherwise all the natural sugars in the milk would add up. I like milky tea so really can't have any more than that.

I think you're going to have to switch to skimmed and definitely halve the sweeteners. Cos the whole point is no sugar outside the window.

ElspethFlashman · 24/05/2017 10:37

Yes whitecovers I am on a 9.30-5.30 schedule.

Bingeslayer · 24/05/2017 10:44

Going to start this today,Going camping next week for 2 nights and caravan for few days a fortnight later but will try to keep to 8 hour window.
Been online with weight watchers for last 8 months and managed to lose 3 stone but been dismal last 3 months and put half stone back on,hope this can control bingeing.

BlaWearie · 24/05/2017 13:18

Well done Rita & Elspeth.
I made a new discovery today. I made overnight oats and they filled me up for ages. I had to eat breakfast early today, but I wasn't hungry for 4 hours afterwards. I'm going to make them every day, when I get back from holiday.

Whitecovers · 24/05/2017 16:09

I've definitely jinxed myself today. After saying I found it easy I've been hungry all day Blush can't stop thinking about flap jacks!
Have had weetabix with a banana and strawberrys for breakfast.
Garlic and herb marinated chicken salad for dinner and will be having prawn stir fry for tea shortly.
Thinking about it, I don't feel hungry...but I don't feel satisfied.

shamoffour · 24/05/2017 16:18

Well done Rita and elspeth.
I've dropped into the next stone this morning which I was really pleased at, so to celebrate I had a kit katConfused

Nomojo2016 · 24/05/2017 19:19

Well done Rita and Elspeth!!

I have managed a 24hr fast - 7pm last night to 7pm tonight. It's been so easy, I can't quite believe it! Altho I'm not eating white carbs or sugar and that's the key....

I'm tempted to see how long I can go, will just see how I feel. I've had a couple of herbal teas, a couple of coffees (1 bulletproof this morning, the other with unsweetened almond milk) and 2 litres of water.

Managed to find a Jason Fung video (that would post) to explain how and why the fasting works:

Sorry can't help myself pushing Dr Fung Blush

littlemissM92 · 24/05/2017 19:23

24hours ?!?! Wow no way I could do that

ElspethFlashman · 24/05/2017 19:25

Yeah that's definitely not for me.......

Nomojo2016 · 24/05/2017 19:38

I def thought I wouldn't be able to do it either but I just thought I would see how it went-and it's been easy - and I was/am a total sugar addict.

Once you have a 2/3 days HFLC and no sugar, it really is easy.

I am aiming to crack my sugar habit - app it takes 8 weeks Shock. I'm just taking it a day at a time at the moment.

Am loving reading up on it though and will probably just try and mix things up and see what works best.

BlaWearie · 24/05/2017 19:58

I did 2 weeks LCHF and was hangry the entire time!
But well done with the fast though!

littlemissM92 · 25/05/2017 08:03

I've lost 2lb woo
