Anyone doing it and can give tips please? I know it's where you only eat in an 8 hour window but wondered if there's anything else I should know?

Theres I'm not exercising yet, I plan to start again when I get back from holiday (that doesn't really make sense does it?!)

Exercising doesn't have to leave you dripping in sweat though even a walk round the bloke helpsSmile

shamoffour · 20/05/2017 10:42

BLOCK!!! Not bloke!!!!

Nomojo2016 · 20/05/2017 10:54

Theres I'm only doing yoga once a week, I can't do anything else due to injury at the moment.

Jason Fung reckons it's more like 95% food/5% exercise....it's good for heart health and toning but food is the crucial thing.....sorry to keep banging on about him Blush

And I'm down another pound this morning - I could jump for joy!! Been trying to lose this weight and failing for ages....

littlemissM92 · 20/05/2017 10:59

Nomo sorry I meant the other way round 75% diet 25% exercise I wasn't concentrating lol so exercise will only help but not desperate for it with this 'diet' it really doesn't feel like one and that's what I LOVE about it I'm not planning on weighing myself until my holiday so I'm 3 weeks

Nomojo2016 · 20/05/2017 11:17

Ha! Didn't even spot that littlemiss!!

I hated the amount of exercise I was doing before, my PT had me on this ridiculous amount of cardio which apparently is actually counter-productive. Very stressful on the body - esp at my age - late 40sSad

MaisieDotes · 21/05/2017 12:07

Hi all! I've been doing this on and off for about five months now and it's working for me.

I don't know about weight exactly as I don't have a scales but I do know that I can now fit into ALL of my pre-pregnancy clothes- i.e. clothes from before having DCs 2&3 (18mo apart).

I find it very easy to stick to when I'm also low carbing, as then I'm just not hungry in the mornings. But I find low carbing in general hard to stick to. A compromise that I'm doing well with at the moment is no wheat (or sugar). So I still have rice cakes, oats and oatcakes, and occasionally some rice or the odd potato.

ElspethFlashman · 21/05/2017 12:50

Weirdly I'm finding the last two days I'm starting to eat much later than I'm allowed just because I'm too busy. Today I didn't eat till well past 11.

Still finishing at 5.30 (though it's actually usually about 5.10 or so)

I'm finding the evenings easy now. Last night DH reminded me there was a Magnum in the freezer with my name on it. But I declined! I thought well I have my wine 'n shite telly night so I may as well keep it for that. And also I could have it during the day if I really craved it. And honestly I wasn't pushed.

It's easier to decline things when you know you can have them another time. It's like food loses its exclusivity or something.

Nomojo2016 · 21/05/2017 14:02

I ended up (not intentionally) having a night off last night. DH wanted to order a curry and I started off thinking I'd just have chicken tikka but ended up having the works - plus 2 glasses of wine Sad....

I felt so uncomfortable & rubbish after I'd eaten it and we also didn't finish eating till 9.30pm - not good - and I had put a pound back on this morning.

Back on it though, just sitting down to a big salad

shamoffour · 21/05/2017 15:55

I had a relaxed day yesterday and I put a pound on this morning which I'm ok with I'm back on it today though. I had a lie in this morning which made things easier.

Nomojo2016 · 21/05/2017 20:37

shamoffour...yes, lie-ins good for fasting!! I was hoping for the same after getting to bed very late. Unfortunately got woken at 7.45 by DD looking for football socks Angry. That was it, was up then and had to wait until 1.30 for lunch and that was only just 16hrs. I like to try and push it a bit longer if I can.

Just been to visit neighbours with a birthday gift and was given a hug slab of cake to take home for DD & DS. (I refused a piece even though was offered some with a cup of tea). However, have just caved and had a piece. I know it's not the end of the world but I'm really trying to kick my sugar addiction and wanted to have at least 3-4 weeks sugar free. It's bloody everywhere isn't it? So hard to avoid Sad

shamoffour · 21/05/2017 21:23

Nomojo I find it helps to say that I will eat as little sugar as I can rather than say I'm giving it up. That way if I do have the odd slice of cake/biscuit I don't feel like I've failed. If I feel like I've failed I end up thinking sod it and eating loads more sugar. I try to look at it positively now that in how every many says I've only had one slice of cake compared to how much I used to eat.
I am aware I sound slightly deranged but I find it works for me!

shamoffour · 21/05/2017 21:24

Days not says.

BlaWearie · 21/05/2017 21:52

Nomo have you thought about trying kefir to kick the sugar cravings? It worked really well for me.

Nomojo2016 · 21/05/2017 21:59

Shamoffour - actually I think that is a brilliant way of looking at it, that's made me feel really good - I've only had one slice of cake instead of my usual two as well as 4 chocolate biscuits & 6 spoonfuls of Nutella

BlaWearie, I have tried kefir before but didn't realise it helped with sugar cravings. I didn't carry on with it as was finding it a bit fiddly trying to grow it or whatever the hell it is you do with it. Might give it another go though, thanks for the tip!

BlaWearie · 21/05/2017 22:09

I just bought it from Tesco, much simpler! I think it kills the sugar cravings after about 3 weeks, if you drink it daily.

Agoddessonamountaintop · 21/05/2017 22:58

Kefir you say? I've heard of that for digestion, didn't realise it helped with cravings as well. Might give it a try.
Just completed second day (kind of). I don't think you're meant to have a glass of wine and several truffles in the evening, are you?
I explained to DH yesterday, that losing weight does not entail buying and consuming cake, wine, chocolate or biscuits! He sheepishly agreed to stop bringing them into the house, so we'll see if that makes a difference. I know I could just refuse, and I did for years (and was slim!), but I seem to have lost the ability to ignore them lately.
Been feeling hungry and a bit queasy all day.

shamoffour · 22/05/2017 12:24

My god I was ready for my fast to end today!
I wonder why some days I'm just so much hungrier than others, I've just had an omelette with lots of ham, mushrooms and tomatoes I'm hoping this will fill me up.
I'm going on holiday on Friday and did the dreaded swimwear try on last night, but actually I felt ok I need to accept that I'm not the size 10 I was before I had 4 kids and appreciate that fact that it could be a lot lot worse.
I will settle for a bit wobbly size 12 for now

I hope everyone is having a good daySmile

littlemissM92 · 22/05/2017 17:42

Are you all eating very healthily in your 8 hours or allowing what u want within reason?

ElspethFlashman · 22/05/2017 18:51

Well I'm still eating the same as ever tbh.

Chinese yesterday, out for a massive brunch today.

Big difference is that I'm only eating between mid morning and about 5. So no snacks of any description. No wine since last Wednesday.

But I weighed myself today and I haven't lost a single pound! 😂

I don't actually mind, wierd as that sounds - I'm a lot less bloated and feel much less UGH! in general.

BlaWearie · 22/05/2017 19:26

I'm still eating unhealthily, tbh. I keep telling myself I'm doing low GI, but I'm not really. I also go on holiday on Friday, so I will start back in earnest when I'm back. Also, I had the weekend off, as I was meeting a friend i hadn't seen in years.

iknowimcoming · 22/05/2017 19:40

I'm doing lchf - which is ok, and I've stopped sugar except for fruit (raspberries blueberries and strawberries) and wine, but I haven't had sweets cake or biscuits for two weeks - honestly I'm amazed I'm still alive Grin

shamoffour · 22/05/2017 21:09

I'm being healthy with the odd relax, I don't really know what it's called but I've cut right back on carbs, sugar and I'm eating lots of veg and very little fat and no alcohol. I'm a barrel of laughsWink
That said today has included a two finger kitkat and two Bourbon biscuits. But it could have been so much worse.
I lost loads on my first week but it's slowed a bit this week but I've not been as strict so I suppose that's to be expected.

theresamustgo · 23/05/2017 10:02

arg, fell off the wagon last night, as I had to take a colleague out for a curry. Felt really stuffed after not very much food (promise) - but very oily. Fell crap today. back on it.......

ElspethFlashman · 23/05/2017 10:06

I fell off the again too. Have a filthy cold, was premenstrual and really really wanted that Magnum in the freezer!

But I had nothing else. That was about 8.30.

So am trying to leave it as long as possible today to eat to try to have a decent fasting window but won't last past 11.

theresamustgo · 23/05/2017 10:32

same here - holding out as long as possible, but for me it will be 1pm. To try to mitigate things I did a lot of jumping up and down in the sitting room at 10pm....but doubt it did much!
