Anyone doing it and can give tips please? I know it's where you only eat in an 8 hour window but wondered if there's anything else I should know?

I do 23:1 fasting as it suits my life better, coupled with keto diet and gym I have lost 4 stone since mid November - a total transformation to my body, starting at 18.5 stone and as of today am 13.12 stone and feel so fab. Still a way to go but omg it's been hard but so worth it and I finalyl feel I have found something that works for me and something I can fit into my lifestyle and maintain easily - its not longer a diet for me its a way of life.

TheWizardofWas · 23/02/2018 20:20

23:1 sounds hardcore. Is that everyday.

I have got down to 73.4, which is going the right way. Picket line at moment thoug( and lovely supporters keep bringing cakes!

Spectre8 · 23/02/2018 20:21

Yes its everyday but I am used to it and to be honest it fits my life better

ELR · 24/02/2018 21:17

I'm still here not lost anything all February! Gained and list that again but actually weigh 200g more than Jan 31st! Hopefully I'll start losing again. I'm still sticking to my window aoart from the odd day but excercise has dipped a bit.
Spectre wow that's definitely hard core!!

Donteatthekidssweets · 25/02/2018 12:51

ELR me neither - not lost any all month but I’m having trouble getting back on it after a weekend away.

Aromatic, thanks I have been trying to drink more and I think this does help - I am home early enough to finish eating by 8, I just have a little snacking problem Blush.

Donteatthekidssweets · 25/02/2018 12:52

ELR - you must have very good scales!

SarahBeeney · 27/02/2018 00:05

Wow Spectre what an amazing weight loss!!
Well done.

Now....what do you eat in your one hour?and what time of the day is it?
And what do you drink in the other 23?

I'm feeling inspired!

Spectre8 · 01/03/2018 14:16

I just make one of the meals from my keto diet book, so usually chicken with some salad and small snack of almonds.

Or poached egg two bacon with guacamole.

I love sushi but avoiding rice so I have sashimi instead for a meal along with seaweed and salad and low salt soya sauce. Again afterwards I might have some almonds and occassionally a few cashew nuts.

I eat really late though like 10pm only because I go to the gym at 8-9.30pm. However this is because I go to bed at 12 midnight as I only need 6hrs sleep.

Might seem wrong to some people but since i sleep late I prefer going to gym late because its quieter and eating that late doesn't affect me as the food I eat isn't heavy and still has at least 2hrs to digest before bed.

All other times I drink variety of stuff: white tea, green tea, mint tea, plain water. Once a day I have an electrolyte drink (Hi 5 electrolyte as its no sugar) to make sure my salts are balanced as obv I am drinking alot and you have to make sure you keep your magnesium and potassium balanced otherwise you can feel dizzy. Its purely because you drink so much you flush it out.

My doctor is pretty happy with it and just advised to make sure I get enough vitamins etc. and keep the mag and pot levels correct.

You don't have to do the same hour as me it depends on your lifestyle, this just suits me better. Plus exercising in a fasted state helps me burn more.

I only have 2 more stone to go once I am there I will switch to a 16:8 and eat two meals but will follow the keto maintenace meal plan instead which gives me more leeway in terms of amount of carbs and protein I can eat. At the moment my carbs are 10g and protein 40g and fat 80g a day.

I have this book: www.amazon.co.uk/Keto-Diet-Complete-Delectable-Confidence-ebook/dp/B06XKKPXM4/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=keto+diet+book&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1519913571&sr=8-6

It explains it all really well and has different keto plans to follow dependin on your needs - so maintenace, fat burn etc. Also has lots of good recipes you can follow, a 7 day meal plan you can choose to use for ease.

Its weird cos in the book it says I can eat 26 almonds in a day - strange because you would think thats too much but it is so low carb you actually can have that many!

Spectre8 · 01/03/2018 14:17

I think the hardest thing is coming to terms with the fact you can't eat like you used to when you were younger, I remember at uni how we would eat...crunchy nut cornflakes for breakfast, pizza and chips for lunch and another take away for dinner and snacks in between. we would eat like that for days and weight would not go on. Can't do that any more :( sad times lol

WelshDutchLady · 06/03/2018 08:48

Hi 16:8ers! A question...
Outside my fasting window I drink the odd can of Diet Coke and drink sugar free squash. Is this enough to elevate my blood sugar and break my fast or should I only be drinking water?

Spectre8 · 06/03/2018 18:52

yup no suar allowed on fasting only water or herbal teas that don't contain things like lemon or fruit teas

CarrotPuff · 07/03/2018 09:51

Hi everyone,

I've done 5:2 before, and it worked really well for me, but I often had this fuzzy head feeling on my fast days that I really dislike.

Doing No S diet at the moment (no snacks, sugar or seconds on week days) but want to speed up the weight loss a bit.

I do 8:16 naturally sometimes anyway, although not lately, so need to make a more conscious effort.

Do you all fast every day or does anyone do it just certain days a week?

TheWizardofWas · 07/03/2018 13:11

Why no lemon in tea?

mrssunshinexxx · 11/03/2018 22:15

How's everyone getting on x

TheWizardofWas · 15/03/2018 14:14

Dead by the looks of it! I am soldiering on but scales are in my office and we have been on strike for weeks. Feels slow but hopeful.....have renewed resolve but all this striking means too many coffees.

TheWizardofWas · 20/03/2018 12:05

73.4kg more or less now. God this is slow. I cant get out of the overweight category till I am under 68kg. .......

SarahBeeney · 23/03/2018 15:03

I've been on and off the wagon a bit!
Still eating in an 8 hour window but some days eating too much crap and carbs.
Very happy to still leave breakfast out tho.

mrssunshinexxx · 23/03/2018 16:06

Sarah I'm exactly the same ! x

Fortysix · 23/03/2018 21:31

My wagon been derailed too.
Eating window being stretched.

6 lbs heavier than my lowest weight. No hoola hooping since Xmas.
Still doing 18k steps every day but have given into cake and bars of caramel. Can't wait until its warmer and I can get the lycra out the wardrobe. Think if i see my wobbles up close it might help me...

TheWizardofWas · 27/03/2018 13:32

72.8KG - moving right way. Have forgotten my packed lunch. What is the healthiest least carbiest more up-filling (?) thing you can buy for lunch on UK high st?

SarahBeeney · 27/03/2018 14:29

Wizard Some of the High street places sell boiled eggs with spinach,Ive seen them in Pret and M&S. And both places do lovely salads.
If I'm not taking my own food into work then I'll head to Leon usually as I love their food. Not really low carb but it tends to be brown rice with salad with their meals so feels healthy.

Fortysix · 27/03/2018 14:45

Boots Kimichi and Edamame Salad With Brown Rice is less than 200 calories

TheWizardofWas · 27/03/2018 17:45

Great suggestions. Thanks.

TheWizardofWas · 14/04/2018 14:37

Holiday has sent me up a little to 73.6. got really into breakfast in hotels!

Fortysix · 18/04/2018 13:13

Back on this for a pre summer push.

We can do this together.
Trying to stick to 1500-1600 calories and burn 2600 daily as per Fitbit.
Wanting to shift 3.5 kgs for starters.
Virtually no chocolate in the house, nor biscuits, nor crisps.
Lunch was left over chicken and a 2 egg / 1 banana omelette/pancake.
Looking forward to dinner already. Hmm
Anyone else being strict with themselves?
