Anyone doing it and can give tips please? I know it's where you only eat in an 8 hour window but wondered if there's anything else I should know?

I am being strict - maybe too strict. Am feeling hungry. I don't count cals though, so don't really know what I am eating. Had a quinoa salad with cabbage, peppers etc for lunch, a satsuma for a snack. Now a miso soup. Dinner will be whatever DP serves up, adjusted for size depending what it is!

Fortysix · 18/04/2018 20:59

Have just about kept to plan. First week will be tougher than the subsequent ones till get into the low/no sugar groove again. I think strict is the only way because once i start to waiver then my resolve buckles. Wizard you sound like you are doing a very good job.

TheWizardofWas · 19/04/2018 11:21

except I found myself at a wine and crisps reception at work ..... so dinner became liquid and crunchy. Going to keep off the scales for a couple of days as I can't bear going backwards!

Faultymain5 · 20/04/2018 06:41

Hi so I was told about this diet a couple of weeks ago by a work colleague. I've done some reading and 'research' on MN. I tried it last week and lost 3lbs. I've never had such a big loss with just exercise and healthy eating (cause I can't consistently do healthy eating).

I always managed to get to a particular weight and not go down any further.

So I started this week at 9st 81/2lbs. I'm aiming for 8st 10lbs. I go to the gym burning over 400 calories per time 3-4 times a week. Run for 30 mins once a week. I ensure I always work out three times a week so I can get my cinema ticket with pruhealth (great incentive)

Faultymain5 · 20/04/2018 06:42

Oh and sugar is my nemesis. So trying to cut down.

TheWizardofWas · 20/04/2018 08:17

Faultymain, that is a great start. I do think sith sugar you can retrain your tastes. I used to have 7 teaspoons in my coffee....arrrgghh, now none and I cant bear any sweetness in it. Wish I could work out like you do. I just cant bring myself to. Apart from a lot if walking, just eating 16:8 for me. But wieght is coming off, slowly and consistently.

TheWizardofWas · 20/04/2018 08:18

i do know how to spell weight. Have been obsessing on it long enough.

Fortysix · 20/04/2018 11:47

Wizard I agree about retraining taste. If there's a Thai curry with palm sugar I can taste the sweetness when before it passed me by... Also I notice how sweet even bread can be... You're soon going to be in that weight zone you wanted Wink.
Faulty that's a good result and a decent pace you're setting Grin
Eating lots of eggs here. yesterday i did four. Hmm

Faultymain5 · 20/04/2018 13:39

Thanks for the welcome. I find exercising easy. It's food I have a problem with. I like healthy food (some), but I love 'bad' food. All bad food is cheesy, creamy or sweet.

I've reduced my cheese intake significantly but have noticed it creeping up. But sugar will take longer

TheWizardofWas · 23/04/2018 11:05

71.2kg - ah the elusive 60s are in sight and I really have not been depriving myself! Anyone see the 'miracle new diet' in the Daily Mail today - this one basically with some tea added.

Fortysix · 23/04/2018 13:18

Clever Wizard you are on your way to the Sixties.
I am in the Sixties and desperate to get back to the Fifties.
Was 61.0 last Monday then got down to 59.7 by Wed and which made me smile broadly. Sat I was 60.0 but today my proper weigh in day I was frowning to be 60.4 Angry as averaged every day over 2700 k burn on my FitBit. Oh well.
Yes, tried to access that diet online and while didn't read much thought it broadly similar to what I was doing already.

katand2kits · 23/04/2018 13:40

Hi, I would like to join up here! I m starting by doing 15/9 this week and then going to go to 16/8. I have about 5 stones to lose but my short term goal is to get my eating habits in check a bit and lose my first stone before my holiday in July.

MsRabbit · 24/04/2018 15:28

I've been doing the 16:8 for a good few weeks now. My partner does it naturally as he just never fancies breakfast (and he's very lean). I didn't weigh myself before starting and haven't weighed myself recently, so not sure of the hard stats on weight loss, but I feel better in my body. Reading the above comments, I realise I've been unwittingly cheating a little though, as I've been having a flat white in the morning at work. I've found the diet has regulated my blood sugar better - as before I'd alway suffer energy crashes, hanger and lightheadedness if I didn't eat every few hours. What I like about it is the fact you don't have to calorie count for the rest of the day (within reason). I've also found I am eating smaller lunches, and subsequently dinners, because my stomach has shrunk over the 16 hours. I think I'll adopt it forever.

Fortysix · 25/04/2018 23:06

Kat & Rabbit hello. Yes it is a gentle framework that we can all adapt to suit our individual lifestyles. Eleven months for me. Look forward to hearing how you are doing.

Notsoyummi · 26/04/2018 08:04

Hi started this Sat 14 april was 9 stone 12 weighed on Monday 23was 9 stone 5 so half stone in 10 days! My window is 10 to 6 while from 6 to bedtime is doable I have been absolutely starving by 10 I can't believe I have stuck to it will power better than used to be.Will weigh again Monday but af due any day so not sure how that will affect things.

katand2kits · 26/04/2018 10:18

Well, I got to 10am but I was soo hungry! Still, I managed it so that's a good start. Do most of you stick to 16:8 every day or do you allow yourself a day off at the weekend?

Notsoyummi · 26/04/2018 10:26

I hear ya kat almost 2 weeks in and still feeling hungry by 10 wonder will we stop feeling hungry. No day off for me but less than 2 weeks till hols so it's all or nothing and half stone off can't believe it.

SarahBeeney · 26/04/2018 10:41

I do it every day as I've got used to not eating in the mornings. I don't feel hungry til about 1pm. So I don't really desire breakfast at the weekends either.
Many people do 5 days a week though. I think it would be harder to skip breakfast again on Monday morning.

teta · 27/04/2018 09:03

Hi everyone, I started this diet two days ago. I’m finding it fine to eat within the allotted time period. However I was truly starving when I started eating and ate loads in the 8 hour period. I think I’m really frightened of being hungry. When I’m fasting I’m not hungry but once I start eating I can’t seem to stop 🙄.
Is this normal and does it balance out after a while?

TheWizardofWas · 28/04/2018 10:43

Perhaps the answer is to eat lots of ow cal stuff when you are eating, vegetables like broccoli or cauliflower, so you dont get hu ger panic.

teta · 29/04/2018 14:14

Thank you Wizard that’s probably a good idea. At the moment I’m snacking if hungry on some nuts or a kids apple with a spoon of peanut butter or a small amount of dark chocolate. I guess I could make up a veggie platter with some home-made houmous.Which would be reasonably healthy. The thing is I have Ibs and try and follow the Fodmap diet. So sometimes eating really healthily is really bad for my stomach . I’ve been making home made Kefir which is delicious with lactofree milk. But the starter sachets have some lactose in and today I have a sore upset tummy 😟.

FussInBoots · 29/04/2018 21:14

Hi Everyone... I was drawn in by the DM's article and I've been scouring the net in search of some real people who have tried the intermittent fasting (16:8) as this one seems like the easiest option to fit into my life atm...
I'm on day 3... going okay so far!
I struggle with foody diets as I'm such a fussy eater and I get bored with calorie counter so I think by limiting the time I'm allowed to eat seems to be for the win!
I'm managing to eat lunch by about 1pm and dinner by 7.30pm and then I'm done.
I love tea and biscuits and the DH loves chocolate... so we end up sharing a bar (or maybe a bar eachConfused)
But this seems to really make me think about my choices! I'd love to lose 30lbs before a wedding mid June lol... but a girl can dream right??! Hmm

Notsoyummi · 29/04/2018 22:17

Another 6 days in weighed myself today 2 pound gone from last week It doesn't seem a lot but all the 2 s add up.On my period iit seems harder am absolutely famished right now the noises from tummy are unreal only 12 more hours 😣

teta · 30/04/2018 10:03

How has everyone done over the weekend?
I succumbed to rather a lot of white wine on Saturday night plus a bit of dark chocolate and goats cheese. I stopped at 10pm and didn’t eat until 1pm the following day. I think I would find it too difficult to eat breakfast on one day and not others.

bzzbeebzz · 30/04/2018 10:43

Can I join too?
Did this before and it was effective but I’ve fallen out of the habit and gained about a stone.
I cycle to work so my only worry is how hungry I’ll be all morning as I eat dinner late (8pm) so have to skip breakfast.
Has anyone managed to sustain morning exercise whilst not breaking fast till 12pm?
