Anyone doing it and can give tips please? I know it's where you only eat in an 8 hour window but wondered if there's anything else I should know?

Hi all, sounds like everyone is getting used to doing it their way or at least trying!
I find that 11-7 works well for me I have a biggish brunch at around 11 then usually a snack at about 3pm then dinner at around 6ish. I'm steadily losing, I've upped my steps and have been going fur a walk most days. I don't eat alot of sugar but really notice a slump if I have a few treats!!
Keep up the good work everyone.
I'm going to weigh Mondays too.

Ledkr · 19/01/2018 22:10

Non work day today. Managed to distract myself till about 11 with housework. I had some toast then.
I can then last easily till dinner which I had just now so that's it. Calories must go down cos I'm only eating twice a day! Dry Jan is helping too and I'm much less bloated and trousers looser!

BlueBelle123 · 20/01/2018 14:00

Ledkr I work from home on a Friday and also do the weekly food shop not a great combination as extras always seem to make their way in to my trolley! and so I end up eating them when I get homeBlush

Still today has been good been for a run had soup and butter beans for lunch and will have a quorn curry with cauliflower rice for tea and maybe one square of dark chocolateGrin

I actually find it easier to stick to over the weekend as I know I will be facing the scales on Monday! I will report back then and look forward to hearing how everyone else it doing.

Oh yesterday I watched the Horizon programme with Michael Moseley on the 5:2 diet and fasting in general definitely worth watching if you've never seen it before.

SarahBeeney · 21/01/2018 17:34

My weight hasn't changed much over the last couple of weeks but my shape definitely has. Wish I'd taken my measurements!

I bought a weighted Hula Hoop to help with my middle section. It's quite good fun and is hard for me as I've never been able to hula hoop with a kids one. However,I have the most horrendous bruising on one of my hips now!

SarahBeeney · 21/01/2018 17:35

There is a documentary on Amazon Prime about Fasting, not sure if anyone has mentioned it on this group yet.

Fortysix · 22/01/2018 14:36

Sarah Ouch but good news on shape.

ELR · 22/01/2018 19:31

Well after my good weight loss I had gained 500g this morning!! Still under 70kg though and I'm due on in a few days do maybe that's the reason for the gain. I've been keeping to my window and Definitely eating g less so in theory I should be losing!
Keep it up people!

BlueBelle123 · 22/01/2018 21:50

Lost 1.5lbs this week so pleased. I'm surprised how I don't even want breakfast in the mornings now, next week i shall try and drink more water I have cut out the fizz, slowly making the changes Smile

ELR TOTM is probably the reason why you didn't lose, keep with it next week I am sure you will be rewarded!!

How is everyone else getting on?

SarahBeeney · 23/01/2018 17:25

Well done to those that have lost!

I'm eating pretty well but really hanker after sweet stuff after my main meal.

Sore bum cheeks today after doing Joe Wickes dvd yesterday,it's a good workout and over quickly!

Joskar · 24/01/2018 23:55

Hello!

Just had a quick read of this thread. I've been doing 16:8 for ten days. Weighing on a Sunday night and lost 5lbs in the first week. I did 5:2 a few years ago and lost a couple of stone. Had two more babies since then so I'm pretty hefty. Still breastfeeding my 4 month old. Is there anything I should take into account to allow for that do you think?

ELR · 25/01/2018 17:46

joskar nit quite sure, but just keep hydrated and if that means tea/coffee with milk so be it!
Good luck x

Joskar · 25/01/2018 23:29

I don't drink milk normally anyway so that's ok. I'm assuming lemon and ginger tea is ok. I'm always thirsty and drink loads of water through the day. I have noticed headaches in the morning so I should probably really pay attention to that.

How long do you reckon it would take to lose three or four stone? I lost 5lbs in the first week but I'm guessing it will slow down a fair bit. I'm low carb and trying to avoid sugar but the saving grace of baby groups is biscuits so it's tough!

How do you maintain? With 5:2 I think just doing 6:1 seems to work. How many days do you have to do 16:8?

ELR · 26/01/2018 07:45

This may help done if you.

16:8 diet
ELR · 26/01/2018 07:45

Some of you!!!

ELR · 29/01/2018 08:56

Well I got weighed today and I've lost 600g/1.2lbs
This week so pleased with that. Since the beginning of the year I've lost 2.3kg/5lbs
It's coming off slowly and that's fine as I'm still eating treats, drinking and going out for dinner ect ect. I am being more mindful of my eating though which I think is what is helping the downward trend. Good luck all

CocosMummy · 29/01/2018 15:24

Hello all,

Hopefully joining you as I need a rocket up my arse! I'm living with my parents currently and they are the type to try and feed people as much as possible. Which is lovely, but I'm scoffing my Mum's biscuit stash like I did as a teenager! Managed to skip breakfast today and I'm working on a 12-8 feed window. Do you all stick to 2 proper meals, or can you snack with in reason? One of my colleagues dragged me to gregs Blush. Will weigh myself tonight and take measurements (though may not share here as I'm a coward!)

Joskar · 29/01/2018 17:56

Gutted! I put on a pound this week. Lost 5 the first week so an average of two a week. Hadn't been very bad I thought. Only broke the fast early once. So annoyed. Will I need to cut out all carbs? I've been minimal on them but still had some.

SarahBeeney · 29/01/2018 18:06

Cocos I tend not to snack as fitting two meals in within 8 hours (or less hours,I tend to do 6-8) is fairly tight. Also I'm not heavy on the carbs (and no white carbs) so that helps with appetite.

TheWizardofWas · 30/01/2018 10:20

Ok - doing this with renewed energy. Want to mark that I am 74.7 now. Had a different name upthread - and began last May on 79kg. So general downwards direction but slow. Now I have a scales I am really going for it though!

SarahBeeney · 30/01/2018 15:23

Hi Wizard. Might be worth doing your measurements too as my shape is changing more than the scales are showing if that makes sense!

Coffeeandcrochet · 01/02/2018 08:33

Hello, I've been following 16:8 solidly for about 2 weeks now, and intermittently before that. Until yesterday I was finding it quite easy, but yesterday morning I felt spaced and weak all morning and ended up breaking my fast half an hour early. This morning I felt even worse, and have had breakfast for the first time in 2 weeks. Has anyone else had episodes like this and managed to get back on track?

ELR · 01/02/2018 09:07

Hi I've had the occasional day like this it's just a blip. Don't let it worry you, just get back on track when you feel up to it. I sonething mice my window to 10-6 rather than 11-7. Usually if I've not eaten well the day before or I've had a bit too much sugary stuff or carb heavy stuff. I don't tend to eat sugar so when I do it's noticed.
I've been doing it solidly now since 28th Dec, I've lost 2.5 kg so not a great deal but its going down slowly. I'm still eating whatever I want but mindfully.
Good luck

ELR · 01/02/2018 09:08

Change my window! There are definitely no mice!!

Eolian · 01/02/2018 12:23

I've started this again, having tried at the beginning of the thread and fallen off the waggon. I'm finding it easier to not really think about timings and windows, but just to skip breakfast. I want a way to lose weight without constantly thinking about my bloody diet!

So I am now officially just a person who doesn't eat breakfast, I am not on a diet Grin. I can get through to 12.00 fine, I just need to eat lunch slowly and mindfully and not feel I have to stuff myself because i didn't I have breakfast!

Coffeeandcrochet · 01/02/2018 18:26

Thanks ELR, that's encouraging Smile I think I'm just going to gloss over today there may have been biscuits Blush and start afresh tomorrow!
