Anyone doing it and can give tips please? I know it's where you only eat in an 8 hour window but wondered if there's anything else I should know?

Getting to 9.4. Did you just stick to 16:8 or build other things in too, like no carbs, no sugar etc?

littlemissM92 · 22/08/2017 13:30

No haven't cut anything out wish I could cut out sugar! But I literally eat lunch within 30mins then no snacks in between dinner and same again dinner and any pud in around 30mins then water only

Losingthewill8 · 22/08/2017 14:02

So 2 main meals and 1 pud, food wise, and water only during the 8 hours?

Do you drink anything but water during non fast hours?

littlemissM92 · 22/08/2017 14:24

Ok so you haven't asked but I'll just tell you my food diary this is usually what it is !

Try to have pint of water before leave for work at 6.55 ish

Large decaf coffee usually around 10-10.30 this really does fill me up. Lunch usually 12.30-1 or 1-1.30 3 boiled eggs on one slice of white or brown toast or beans on 1 slice toast or homemade soup followed my apple tangerine kiwi and some melon maybe followed by a biscuit like a penguin?!
Dinner 95% homemade vegetarian twice a week then if I've made a pudding I'll eat it if not I might have nothing or I might have few squares of chocolate. Sip on water throughout th day but don't drink as much as I should ! Also run 3 times a week between 5 and 7k and atleast 10000 steps a day hope this helps

D

Losingthewill8 · 22/08/2017 14:30

That helps so much. Thank you. I def need to up my exercise!

MsHarry · 22/08/2017 14:42

I agree that eggs and soups and beans are your friends. They really fill you up, have never managed 3 eggs in one sitting though! I love a poached egg on a small avocado on seedy toast. I've been using tinned white beans a lot lately as my DD is veggie. They are so cheap, filling and healthy. I cook an onion with garlic and chilli, tips in the drained butter beans or white kidney beans with thyme and cook through. Sometimes add a splash of wine. They are a great alternative to starchy carbs to accompany fish, chicken or just add extra veg.

littlemissM92 · 22/08/2017 14:58

Your welcome Smile

Losingthewill8 · 25/08/2017 10:04

Hi. Bit of a problem here. When I do 16:8, it obviously means I am missing out breakfast when I have my cereal and almond milk. I am missing this. I don't have milk any other time of the day. I don't necessarily miss it at breakfast time, just miss it in general.

Does everyone just eat lunch and dinner now? Thank you

Fortysix · 25/08/2017 10:36

Could you have cereal and almond milk at lunchtime instead of your traditional style of lunch?
Do you reckon you miss 'breakfast' itself or is it these particular food items? Eventually your stomach does get re-trained Grin.
Just a suggestion, but when you get a longing for food could you 'retaliate' and go off and walk 250 steps up and down the house or office (not always possible when you are working). When i get a hunger pang i try and use it as a 'trigger' to get moving. Doesn't always work especially if it moves me in to the kitchen and into the path of sugar... so walk in a different direction if you can...
First food is after 12 noon. Sometimes I wait until 1.00 pm so yes, to skipping breakfast.

Losingthewill8 · 25/08/2017 11:55

Ok. I think because I don't have cheese or other milk products really that I'm probably a bit concerned about having removed cereal with fiber, calcium etc.
I could in fact just have it for lunch instead!

Fortysix · 25/08/2017 12:15

Result.

Beans, avocado, beetroot, berries will replace that fibre with a small glass of milk / yoghurt on the side if you looking for other ideas. But keep adding incremental exercise throughout the day to score better results as that will work in tandem with your good food choices.

MsHarry · 25/08/2017 12:22

I sometimes have breakfast foods at lunch if I really fancy them. I used to have a boiled egg in the morning or porridge. I often have egg at lunchtime instead with rebuild on a salad or poached on avocado. I also sometimes eat breakfast at the weekend only and then have bircher or similar with yoghurt.

MsHarry · 25/08/2017 12:23

Rebuild??? I meant boiled!

timeforabrewnow · 29/08/2017 07:52

I'm late to this thread, but have been inspired reading all your stories. (Particularly fortysix - your self control is Amazing)

I've only got 7lbs to lose and it is a very stubborn 7lbs as have been losing the first 4lbs, then putting it back on for a very long time.

Tried the 16:8 for 3 days now eating between 12 and 20.00 last night had healthy reasonable sized supper, followed by small bowl of icecream, then little piece of banana cake, then chopped banana with tablespoon of greek yoghurt at 19.55....

Not a great way to be losing the pounds -if I'd just had one of the 'puddings' then fine -but three? This is my problem, can't seem to break the 3 day barrier to sugary eating habits.

PandorasXbox · 29/08/2017 11:45

New to thread. Going away on holiday in 2 weeks and hoping to shift a few pounds, would this fasting help as a quick fix or is it a more long term thing. I'm 9 stone so not massively overweight but would like to lose some before baring my body Blush

Fortysix · 29/08/2017 15:43

Time and Pandora welcome.
Time Kind of you to say but last three nights I’ve been pacing around the house for an hour circa 10.30pm to keep my step count on track. Over-eating in the Raspberry & Almond tart dept. Grin Desserts are also my downfall and to shift my weigh initially I had one portion at the weekends for the first eight weeks. Blush Really hard but I had to go cold turkey so to speak as I was in similar territory to you…
Only now am I back to eating them every day but there is a considerable trade off. I’ve given up on biscuits, crisps and bread and my step count is still circa 21 k. Much of this weigh loss thing is about changing food habits and approach. What worked best for me was to walk out the room when crisp and desserts were being gorged in front of the TV. I would go on 15 minute walk and divert myself. Then catch up on the missed TV at another time when I was doing hoolahooping! The NO crisps, bread, biscuits is tough but I cope with it OK as on the upside I have prioritised cake! Bottom line is I had to break the bad habits and end them… elsewise the 2.5 stones I’ve dropped will gradually be regained. Be strong tonight after your main course. Go back for seconds of meat or fish or whatever instead of the dessert…
Pandora Love the name. Without additional exercise you should manage to lose about 2lbs a week on 16:8 if you genuinely don’t snack in between. Others will be along soon to confirm that is entirely possible. Depends how determined you are for that beach body Grin There are more extreme versions… I restricted myself to 1000 calories and doubled my exercise to 20k steps to lose a stone in my first three weeks. [And got up an hour earlier to fit the extra walking in ].

In summary, do what suits you best. That's the good thing about this thread. Everyone tailors 16:8 their own way to fit in with their work and home life. If I had a long commute or small DC I couldn't possibly do this amount of exercise.

timeforabrewnow · 29/08/2017 19:55

Aye - back on track today. No pudding/s. Or sweet stuff at all. And now that it's nearly 20.00 - nothing at all!

Still fullish from dinner of grilled pork chop, mushrooms, courgette, onion + carrots .

Treat once a week for 8 weeks? I stand by my original statement regarding willpower Grin

Go Pandora - we can do this thing

PandorasXbox · 29/08/2017 20:01

Thanks Forty! Done my first day. Lunch later than normal due to friend popping round and ate small meal at 6pm. Shall be being very strict due to pending bikini (!) holiday for the next few weeks and think I will find it ok, maybe I'm being a bit presumptuous as it's only day one though Grin

When I'm following some kind of diet I don't snack or cheat and do lose weight steady so I'm pretty hopeful. Going to do 15mins on the rowing machine now, poor body won't know what's hit it!

Fortysix · 01/09/2017 11:14

How's everyone doing? All these newly launched cooking and bakery programmes are not making this easy...

PandorasXbox · 01/09/2017 12:07

Hi Forty.. so far so good. Only day 3 though Grin but I've managed ok and better than I thought. DH was eating chocolate last night and instinctively I went to grab some but then looked at my watch! Normally whilst dieting it would torture me not to have some but it didn't bother me. Been doing about a 1000 cals a day too which I know is on the low side but even that has been fine Smile

timeforabrewnow · 05/09/2017 21:15

Lost 2lbs over 1 and a half weeks and not being That strict. This definitely works..

Fortysix · 06/09/2017 11:38

Very valuable 1.5 lbs Time especially if you are on the stubborn last to leave weight and you not killing yourself getting there... Wonder if Pandora and her bikini are better friends? Smile

Fortysix · 06/09/2017 21:16

2 lbs Time sorry

Fortysix · 19/09/2017 10:04

Very quiet here. Hope everyone is doing OK.

I am officially fed up with eggs at noon for the first of my two meals and so any tasty protein suggestions welcome. Dare say we will soon be into hearty soup weather but it's still only September and I associate soup with Winter.

mrssunshinexxx · 19/09/2017 14:12

Still here still doing it also bored with what I eat in the 8 hour slot need to change it up abit I'm thinking some nice thick tasty soups feels crazy with it being September but it's so chilly!
