Anyone doing it and can give tips please? I know it's where you only eat in an 8 hour window but wondered if there's anything else I should know?

Aw, Forty - I like your thinking! Grin

toffee - welcome, definitely give it a go!

I have to say, I am a real coffee fiend, I have a good 3 cups a day. But it has surprisingly gone by the wayside since I started on 16:8.

I am really trying to play by the rules and so have avoided tea and coffee with milk in (even though I drink trim / green-top milk), during the fasting hours. I have been drinking herbal teas instead, which is really not me!

I'm actually amazed at how much I haven't missed it - saying this as someone who really thought they needed their coffee in the morning.

I'm sure there has to be some health benefit with the less coffee, and a lot more water that I'm drinking.

ELR · 23/06/2017 20:41

Hi all I got weighed today and thankfully I'm down 1.75 lb so that's almost 5lb in 3 weeks and I'm due on in about 6 days so really pleased with that!
DH is impressed and has asked how it works!! Have great weekend everyone.

TheDowagerCuntess · 23/06/2017 21:08

That's an amazing achievement ELR!

Velocity · 24/06/2017 08:21

2-weeks in an 1kg down! I don't have a lot of weight to loose but I do need something that makes it easy to sustain the weight loss. I like the article posted by @Giddyaunt18 which summarised what I'm aiming for 'building health habits that guide my behaviour 90% of the time' - this should be achievable. I'm finding that mornings are smoother because I'm not eating breakfast (1 less thing to think about) - I was worried that I was setting a bad example for DS but he hasn't noticed that I'm not eating!

We have a guest over so managed to have dinner over by 8pm (within by window) last night without mentioning it to anyone Wink (although we did speed through it a bit so I could have ice-cream) and the plan this morning is to go out for brunch but I know that the longer people sleep in, the closer I get to the 16 hours (but accept that anything more than 12 is a bonus).

I find that I am eating less when I do eat (but from the videos I realise that I do have to make sure that I eat enough) and there have been some days when work commitments have meant that I've eaten lunch an hour later than planned and that has been OK. I still need to pay less attention to being hungry but hopefully that will come.

Have a good weekend all .

Great news ELR & Velocity!

Knowing other people are trying to be good at the same time makes it easier not to wander off the straight and narrow... I'm finding it harder to shift those 'lbs' now... might need to mix things up ... but on holiday Thursday Grin

littlemissM92 · 25/06/2017 07:14

Hi everyone well done on the losses I am still on holiday so feeling like a whale and haven't been good but I will be getting straight back on 16/8 when I'm home I love it I just couldn't cope with no food til midday in this heat I'd faint. Plus my partner proposed on holiday so lots of celebrating !

Giddyaunt18 · 25/06/2017 09:55

Hi all, am 9st 5lb (131lb) this morning! Just 1lb off my ultimate goal! So used to not eating breakfast now it's been a month. I've started thinking about what to do when I get there. Like Velocity says, I want this to be long term and my DC haven't noticed I'm not eating breakfast either. I feel totally satisfied by my 2 meals so don't really want to eat more. Was thinking maybe I'll eat breakfast at weekends only when there is more time or breakfast in the week and not at weekends to offset wine! Any thoughts?

Giddyaunt18 · 25/06/2017 09:56

Oh congratulations littlemiss !!! My DH proposed on holiday too, 21 years ago! Flowers

Fortysix · 26/06/2017 15:29

More great news
littlemiss How lovely and congratulations!
Giddy You must be so pleased, well done.

littlemissM92 · 26/06/2017 16:26

Thank you ladies I still can't believe it x

Nomojo2016 · 26/06/2017 19:45

Many congrats littlemiss!!

Sorry I disappeared. I felt a little sheepish after all my posts - I suddenly felt really yucky eating high fat and put on 2lbs overnight. That pissed me off and sent me into a spiral of eating crap. I then went on holiday and continued eating shit Blush

Put on all but 1lb of what I'd lost. Soooo, gently easing back into it but not being so strict this time. I'll have a read through all your inspiring posts to motivate me. Lesson learnt!!

theresamustgo · 27/06/2017 10:34

Nomojo - sorry to hear that. I think I have been wobbling - have been away and then at conferences when all there was was tempting danish pastries at 9am.....and wine in the evenings. So, have wobbled a bit, but am doing it with renewed resolve as I found out my blood pressure is sky high....and I have to be monitored again next week. I think weight loss will help that. Dont want drugs.....

Nomojo2016 · 27/06/2017 12:46

theresamustgo oh no, sorry to hear that....def the fasting will help too!

I am still not quite there....I am aiming to 16:8 but probably doing 13/14 at the moment. Also, back on the poisonous white stuff....I have a house full of builders at the moment, they've been here for a month already and I feel a bit stressed out with it. Easy to reach for the nearest thing but I don't want to get my blobby tummy out on holiday so I MUST do it.

I have noticed though, I feel SOOO tired all the time now....I felt amazing when I cut out sugar. Even if I'd had a bad night's sleep, I felt fine the next day. Not now, I struggle out of bed and feel very achey. A definite incentive for me to eat better anyway!

Fortysix · 28/06/2017 10:47

Nomo and Theres conference life and a home with builders would knock most people off their stride. It is incredibly difficult to prioritise you when you get swept along in a series of distractions that are work and environment focused.
So hols are tomorrow! Grin Day off here to get packed and tidy house. Six week weigh in and I've lost 2 lbs this week. 24 lbs in total. Very chuffed. Got sharp new hair cut and gone back to my dark hair colour. Wink My holiday clothes now fit me which is great. Importantly I still haven't had any headache meds for eight weeks. No idea whether it is the fasting, the huge sugar decline, the minimal white flour, no chocolate or just that I'm exercising. Don't no what exactly to pin it on but having no migraines across the month is amazing and new territory.
Someone mentioned light headedness. Honestly I have been doing virtually all my exercise [well 80% of it] during my '16' fasting window and truthfully I've not been light headed at all .. maybe a little dehydrated but never light headed. It also dawned on me that the days I am starving are the ones where I have done 20 k of Fitbit steps/activity between meals.. maybe 5k before bed and then 15k then next morning.
Will try to come home with a weight that still starts with a 9... and then get back into things to try and hit my own magic weight. Whew.

iknowimcoming · 28/06/2017 11:22

Well done all, congratulations on the engagement, and forty six - have a great holiday, all good here in spite of a mental weekend when mealtimes and content were beyond my control but no biggie, onwards and downwards Grin

Giddyaunt18 · 28/06/2017 13:51

That's all great 46! The lack of headaches is huge, enjoy your holiday!

littlemissM92 · 29/06/2017 08:24

Hi ladies so back to it today first time I've weighed in more than 2 weeks I was around 9.10/11 before and I'm 9.6 this morning ?! Can this be true?! Same scales I didn't over indulge hugely on hol and hit the gym 11 out of 14 days and seriously sweated?? I'm chuffed if it's not something dodgy to do with flying ? Sorry for waffling

macnab · 29/06/2017 15:28

Hello everyone, congrats on all the losses and on the engagement littlemiss ! Maybe the excitement made you shed a few extra pounds?? (flying usually makes me bloat like a mad woman)

I've not been very good this past week, family emergency and several trips to hospital so although I've probably (accidentally) stuck to the 16/8 I certainly haven't eaten well during the eating time. A lot of quick fixes and grab and go shite. Ah well, sometimes you just can only focus on one particular thing. I intend to start watching what I'm eating from tomorrow (can't even commit to starting today!!) However, today I'm comfortably wearing a pair of trousers that I couldn't fit into a few weeks ago so things have moved in the right direction a little bit.

Onwards & downwards everyone Smile

iknowimcoming · 30/06/2017 11:24

Morning! Was feeling a bit fed up last night and moaning to dh that I'm really missing potatoes and fruit - bananas and apples etc and could feel myself wavering a bit. Oddly not missing the sugary stuff particularly so that's one plus I guess. Anyway today's weigh in puts me at 12lbs down after 7.5 weeks and I've lost 2.5 inches from my waist which I'm thrilled with so must keep on keeping on Grin hopefully that boost will keep me on the straight and narrow this weekend Wink

Giddyaunt18 · 30/06/2017 14:16

That's great iknow Can I just ask why you can't eat potatoes, banana and apples?
I haven't excluded anything apart from obvious sugar i.e chocolate, desserts etc and even then I have had the odd square of dark chocolate or one spoon of ice-cream. There is so much nutrition in the things you are excluding.
I am still 9st 5 this morning and still skipping breakfast, loving all sorts of healthy food, just in moderation. A typical lunch for me is a poached egg on rye bread with smashed avocado and a green salad followed by an apple. Last night's dinner was quite typical: a coconut milk based curry with chick peas and spinach and brown rice, followed by full fat Greek yoghurt with berries.

iknowimcoming · 30/06/2017 14:36

I'm doing low carb high fat as well as 16:8 giddy, so no potatoes bread and fruit wise just blackberries, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. I have recently started having small amounts of potatoes with meals as I'm getting bored of just salad though tbh. For me kicking the sugary crap has been the biggest win so far and I'm hoping that I will be able to have bread rice and potatoes as well as the other fruits, just in moderation, once I've reached a sensible weight and just want to maintain with a normal healthy diet.

Giddyaunt18 · 30/06/2017 14:41

That's quite tough iknow, be kind to yourself. Kicking sugar and 16:8 is quite a discipline in itself!

iknowimcoming · 30/06/2017 16:00

Aww thanks giddy! My best friend gets married next week and my brother in six weeks so that was what gave me the kick I needed to sort my weight out, whilst I still need to lose another 1.5-2 stone, I feel much better and more confident in a dress than I did before, and there's a lot less wobble round my middle thankfully. My brothers wedding is abroad so I don't want to be the hot fat and sweaty guest at the wedding, just hot, slightly tubby and sweaty is good enough Grin

iknowimcoming · 30/06/2017 16:02

Also I couldn't resist a carrot cake muffin with my lunch today - so not exactly deprived BlushWink

ShuttyTown · 30/06/2017 18:35

I'm going to start the 16:8 tomorrow. Anyone got any words of wisdom for me? I haven't read the whole thread as it's huge now! I'll be eating within 12pm-8pm. Thanks in advance Grin
