Anyone doing it and can give tips please? I know it's where you only eat in an 8 hour window but wondered if there's anything else I should know?

Absolutely understand why you are so pleased. Just cracked the 10 barrier myself today by half a pound and so we can celebrate together. Decent amount of food going down at your house - would be very happy to be invited.

When I get to 9 st 7 st I am making a raspberry frangipane tarte and I plan to eat a slice at 9.00 am ...

iknowimcoming · 15/06/2017 12:19

Sounds good forty six - well done on under 10!

ELR · 15/06/2017 21:38

Hi all got weighed this morning and haven't lost anything I'm slightly disappointed but I guess at least I haven't gained! I'm 10.13.8 so just under 11. I was 11.3 when I started this so I guess really in 11 days a 3lb loss is good. Its definitely the easiest diet I've ever done! I go on holiday in 2 weeks so if I could loose another 2 or 3 pounds I would be very happy.

Giddyaunt18 · 15/06/2017 21:45

ELR I would be very happy with 3lbs in 11 days. I aim for a pound a week!

Fortysix · 15/06/2017 22:04

@ELR If you are inclined and pretty keen to get those 3 lbs off might i suggest getting up 30 mins earlier if you can every day for the next week and pace around the house/garden/ street before your day begins proper. Basically for every 10 mins of reasonable walking that bags you 1000 steps. Often i use that time to tidy up the house - open curtains etc and put things away albeit constantly stepping. Then another 15 minutes at night if you can. It's the incremental exercise that's worked for me...

ELR · 15/06/2017 22:37

Ooh thanks for the tip forty I must admit that inthe first 6 days when I lost the 3lb I was doing well over my 10'000 steps usually around 15'000 and this week its been much less more like 8-9 thousand so I will definitely do that thanks x

Riversleep · 16/06/2017 07:55

Hi I'm starting this today. I thought Id do this and try just cutting down refined carbs so more Mediterranean diet. I've fallen off the lchf wagon several times in the past couple of weeks and cant motivate myself to do it.

Giddyaunt18 · 16/06/2017 07:59

Welcome river. Now I'm almost at target I am building more toning into my exercise. So, on top of walking the dog for 50 mins a day and doing 30 mins on exercise bike 3 times a week I have now started a nightly attack of plank, V crunches and press ups. I do 3 sets of 1 min plank, 30 Vs and 20 half press ups. Will I be ripped by August? Grin

ELR · 16/06/2017 08:56

Morning all, I went out last night and had a burger and an ice cream for my dinner I still stuck within my 8 hours, but somehow it still feels wrong!! Brunch was at 11 and I had a light snack at 3pm.
Has anyone else noticed if their belly has sort of got flabby? Hopefully that means the fat has moved on! I seem to remember something similar with 5:2. Got a night out tonight and then dinner out tomorrow so a challenging weekend!!
How is everyone else doing?

iknowimcoming · 16/06/2017 09:04

ELR - yes, my tummy is definitely more squishy somehow - weird!

Riversleep · 16/06/2017 09:09

Thanks! I've got a day off today so I'll rtft to get the rules. Does everyone do loads of exercise too? I go to Pilates once a week but I might go to legs bums and tums this morning if I can build up the courage Grin

Fortysix · 16/06/2017 12:13

I think each of us is tailoring our own version of 16:8 and it offers everyone the flexibility to do it their way and get results

From what i read some posters are happy to be cutting back on portion size and eat sensibly within their time frames and not adding any additional exercise.

Others have added some calorie restraints and some additional exercise.

I have gone a little bit further and added lots of incremental daily exercise and cut back on calories because I'm horrendously impatient to speed things up

All I would say is I think it is the EXTRA exercise over my normal which is helping me lose quickly. So prior to all this I did 13 k steps a day on my Fitbit. On Day 1, I immediately started with 20 k seps for the first three weeks before changing to 24 k about 10 days ago. I've lost 19 lbs in 30 days but it is taking me at least TWO hours a day to get my steps done (which includes 40 mins of hoola hooping, a hoop records as a step Grin).

Once i get to my ideal weight i'm going to have to consider how i maintain it. This might mean going from my previous normal of 13 k steps to a new normal of 18 k. OPs following a less hard core approach will not necessarily have this dilemma and not need to up their daily exercise for ever and ever...

Fortysix · 16/06/2017 12:45

Slept in by an hour this morning so way, way behind on my steps. Tummy is feeling extremely bloated and tense so maybe too much fizzy water. I have a party tomorrow and stuff all weekend that's won't fit around 16:8.

However previously about a fortnight ago I definitely thought that the tummy fat has 'centralised' and moved gathering in one squidgy all over place. I though that this was a good change and viewed it as a positive but yes, agreed more squishy.

Velocity · 16/06/2017 19:13

You've all inspired me to give this a go. Failed to make 5:2 work because of the planning involved in the fast days but I have comfortable managed the early morning hunger this week ( Tuesday was day 1). The weekend will be more challenging but I'll see how it goes - do you keep going or do you have a day off?

Riversleep · 16/06/2017 19:32

velocity I found 5:2 the same, and I didn't lose weight because I stuffed my face on the non fast days. I haven't eaten a brilliant diet today, but strangely didn't crave sugar. I was starving by 11 but I had my exercise class so had a handful of peanuts, then had fish and chips in the supermarket cafe. That had me completely stuffed until dinner which is unusual for me, then I've had a chicken curry with rice. I'm stuffed again but this is my usual danger time. I used to knit in the evenings to keep my hands busy so I wasn't picking. I might dig my needles and wool out again tonight Halo

Giddyaunt18 · 16/06/2017 19:41

Velocity I keep going with the timing at the weekend but allow a few glasses of wine. I have noticed that if you go too off piste at the weekend it takes half on the next week to get back to where you were on Friday.

Giddyaunt18 · 16/06/2017 19:42

Half of the next week!

shamoffour · 16/06/2017 20:13

I've had a good day today. The idea of 5:2 makes me nervous, I know I couldn't do the fast days. I love this because a lot of my fast time is spent sleeping and then it's only a few hours until I can eat again.
I had a tomato and mushroom omelette for lunch and made a really nice chilli and had it with salad a spoonful of rice for dinner.
Have a good weekend everyoneSmile

iknowimcoming · 16/06/2017 21:08

All good here too - down another .5lb so 11.12.6 this morning Grin - not quite sure how I've started losing half a pound a day but I'm not complaining! Long may it last, although I am currently drinking wine ..............

Velocity · 17/06/2017 06:52

The family might rebel if I don't join them for breakfast but a brunch compromise may be worked out!

Giddyaunt18 · 17/06/2017 12:16

Total loss of 1.5 lbs this week. Very happy. So used to not eating breakfast now. All my clothes fit better, some are too big! I am in my happy zone at 9st 6. The zone is 9st 4 - 9st 7. It's been so worth it so hang in there everyone.

TheDowagerCuntess · 17/06/2017 21:03

I've been doing 16:8 for about a week and a half now, religiously every day (not even having a splash of milk in tea during the fasting hours), weekends included, and I've lost nada. Not a thing. Not even 0.1 of a kg!

I have been stuck at this weight since the beginning of March, through 5:2, and now switching to 16:8.

I'm a healthy BMI, but put on a few kilos last year.

I'm trying to lose a further 4kg to get down to a weight that I feel good at, and look better at. It's not much, but I have completely stalled on the weight loss front since March, and I can't really understand it.

I know it's always hard to lose the last weight, but I can see on my body lots of places it could quite happily go from! Grin

Frustrating, but I will continue.

Giddyaunt18 · 17/06/2017 22:24

Try 2 meals? I stalled then tried this and it all started coming off again. I eat at 12pm and by 7pm. I do have milk in tea and coffee but it's only skimmed and I don't take sugar. I think 'they' say you need to create a 500 calories a day deficit to lose 1lb a week so skipping breakfast gets you at least halfway to that goal.

Riversleep · 17/06/2017 23:06

I know I've only been doing it for 2 days but I had a day off today Blush. My excuse was that my DS 9 decided he wanted to make dinner so it took longer than usual! I could hardly not eat it after he had painstakingly slopped some chicken breasts in beaten egg and crushed up cornflakes though! They were quite nice too even though by the time he finished we were eating at nearly 8.00!

Giddyaunt18 · 17/06/2017 23:32

That's ok river just have count 16 hours from 8pm, so eat at 12pm next. It's pretty flexible.
