The thread was full so I've started a new one! Hope everyone will find their way here. Just wanted to say that we have bought tickets to come and watch When I grow Up in Kingston in July. Love Kingston and the Rose Theatre and we're just keen to come and support! Looking forward to seeing some of your talented DC on stage and playing in the band.

KMK was superb, so glad we went to see it. Congratulations to all the DC involved.

Biscuitsneeded · 10/08/2023 08:08

Huge congratulations to Team KMK. What a show! Amazing vocals and dance. I really, really enjoyed it.

Argh, sorry @Biscuitsneeded - I was there Wednesday night and missed you!

Mine is loving KMK!

Comefromaway · 11/08/2023 11:25

I know there are several alumni who have been cast but has anyone seen that one of the girls who was in Chess last year has got her first professional role in Les Mis?

Biscuitsneeded · 11/08/2023 15:15

Hee hee my DS knew about this but was sworn to secrecy. She's done so well but absolutely deserves it. Also another girl from Hunchback and a young man from Battle of Boat!

@allhailthebrain glad he is enjoying it. I really loved the show. Hope they have a fantastic last day today.

Watched Angry Salmon last week- thought it was excellent. Went on a whim as I was in London for work. I was really surprised. The male salmon leads, younger daughter salmon, villain, clams especially lead clam- wow, French seal and grandmother salmon were standouts along with some of the background salmon- the seals and clams were salmon too and acted particularly well.

I’ve been following this thread as my son has been thinking about auditioning for a while. I was shocked at how professional the show was- the social media clips do not do the shows justice if this was anything to go by.

Operasingerkath · 13/08/2023 17:43

Huge congratulations to everyone involved in KMK - my DS has had a fantastic time and an amazing experience!

Comefromaway · 13/08/2023 18:14

Sounds like the shows so far have been brilliant.

good luck for Armchair show week for those travelling to Leicester tomorrow

allhailthebrain · 13/08/2023 18:19

Wow KMK - you did NOT disappoint!

Professional levels and more, just wonderful.

My own kid is beyond proud to have played any kind of part in it - bravo to all! Well deserved 5 star reviews.

Passing the baton to the armchair as it sails by... Break a leg!

Alakazam8 · 13/08/2023 22:15

Wish I could like a post @allhailthebrain.
What a lovely post!
we won’t make armchair after all due to work issue but can’t wait to hear reviews on here!!

wonderfullife123 · 14/08/2023 08:35

Welcome @Nopetynopenooe - great to hear that you enjoyed Angry Salmon and your DS keen to audition. Is he thinking of auditioning for BYMT, NYMT, or both?

Congratulations again to KMK - it was truly exceptional, and break a leg to the Armchair DC. Quite tempted to go and see it as was so impressed by KMK. Dropped my DDs in Dundee for their BYMT show on Saturday. They seem to be absolutely loving it so far -despite long days.

Comefromaway · 14/08/2023 09:38

I loved the video of my ds leading an armchair rehearsal. It's on the private group so I can't link. Ds knew he was being watched but didn;t know he was being videoed!

He says the string section of the band is really good, they picked players who would make a good string quartet, its a challenging part.

Nopetynopenooe · 14/08/2023 14:17

Thank you @wonderfullife123 He has been looking at BYMT, only because his friend has had a good experience with them. He has been procrastinating for a while- hopefully he’ll go for it in this next audition session.

Hi, my daughter was a clam in Angry Salmon, she loved it. I'm actually pastoral on a camp with BYMT as well. Happy to answer ant questions x

allhailthebrain · 14/08/2023 20:48

@Alakazam8 that made me smile - I was accused of making a really nasty post on a Strictly forum the other day (I happen to have a negative opinion of a certain MT related contestant and said he was known as a Bighead in our house) so it struck me as funny to have both ends of the spectrum this week 😂
My kid is desperate to see Armchair after workshopping it last year, but it's just not realistic. It would be a minimum of 6 hours travel as well as the costs of trip and travel. I know how beautiful this piece is, wish we could go but it just won't work. Glad we booked a MT week otherwise I think post show blues would be in full force...

Comefromaway · 14/08/2023 20:57

Allhailthebrain - I have it on good authority (friend of a friend in the industry) that a certain MT related contestant is a nightmare to work with & treats people horribly

Alakazam8 · 14/08/2023 21:53

Oh from the new lineup? What a shame!

allhailthebrain · 15/08/2023 00:47

@Comefromaway I can wholeheartedly believe that. Reading between the lines of the kind of people who post supporting other MT people they have worked with (e.g. happy birthday posts saying how lovely they are, congrats on new jobs posts and how talented they are), but don't ever post about him... well it just speaks volumes doesn't it? Obviously wisely employing "if you can't say anything nice" so good for them, but personally writes and then deletes personal experiences of me meeting him and my kids meeting and working with him
They definitely DO have experience in latin, even if not direct ballroom experience. Not to mention the musicality and weeks where they get a free choice - ten times the ringer anyone else has ever been accused of being.
I hope it helps with normalising gay dance couples and trans rights etc (I've heard he's being fitted for dresses) though.

In the KMK cast there was a teen celebrating their 'transaversary' during the run. There is a wonderful pic of the whole cast gathered around hugging that person, and they bought them flowers and a card. Well done kids 😍

minimits · 15/08/2023 08:37

Totally missed this thread! DS is one exhausted chap! Very very proud of all his KMK cast members and feels v happy to be leaving NYMT on a high. Realistically he can’t do it next year sadly. But what a show to finish on!
Congrats and good luck to all BYMTers and go get ‘em Armchair crew!

wonderfullife123 · 15/08/2023 13:49

That's great @minimits your DS must feel so proud.
@Nopetynopenooe fingers crossed your DS decides to go for it next year.

Operasingerkath · 15/08/2023 16:57

@minimits you must be so proud of your DS! He has been so lovely with my DS and so inspirational. We will watch his career with interest and also pride remembering they shared a stage!

Biscuitsneeded · 15/08/2023 16:57

@Nopetynopenooe I think if your DS auditions for either organisation and gets in, he won't be disappointed!
Baton accepted, thank you - break a leg, Armchair cast! @wonderfullife123 I hope your DDs are having an amazing time. How many days of rehearsal do they get before show day?

OP posts:
minimits · 15/08/2023 18:03

@Operasingerkath that is so so kind of you to say. That has made my day! He genuinely thought your DS was ‘a legend’ in his words. So lovely to hear how well they all got on. An insanely talented cast all together! Wish we had a recording!

wonderfullife123 · 15/08/2023 18:20

They seem to be having a fab time, thank you@Biscuitsneeded -and coping fine with the long days of 9 -9 rehearsals. I think it is 12 days from start to the first show. Break a leg to your DS for Armchair, no doubt it will be amazing.
