New Thread NYMT/BYMT 2023!

The thread was full so I've started a new one! Hope everyone will find their way here. Just wanted to say that we have bought tickets to come and watch When I grow Up in Kingston in July. Love Kingston and the Rose Theatre and we're just keen to come and support! Looking forward to seeing some of your talented DC on stage and playing in the band.

Last year was black with a hint of bright colour. The bend was black with a hint of blue.

Many thanks everyone. It simply says "No wearing all black. Some bright colours are encouraged!" and no heels, sandals or logos/ slogans. I like the idea of bright cargo pants and a t-shirt - I had been thinking of a loose knee length, pleated skirt or shorts but worried that this is probably impractical.

Ooh exciting seeing the pics from last year again! Costume chatter has begun in the FB group for KMK now - won't be long!
Mind you, mine seems to be in about 5 shows before then, it's crazy round here right now! Anyone else?

Where do I even start?

Ds finished his Uni assessments a couple of weeks ago.

he celebrated with a week of The Little Mermaid
the next day he played with his band at a music festival
Last week band call for Fame at his old college, this week is tech (quadruple cast)
Saturday is band call for NYMT concert
Sunday band call for School of Rock with his old theatre group
Next week Fame shows 2 shows per day
The following day depping for one show of 9-5)
The week after School of Rock all week
then finally 2 weeks off before NYMT in concert
Band rehearsal week then outdoor festival
the day after travel get a train for a week playing for a youth theatre run of a show called Imaginery
Then 2 weeks off before Armchair residential
week off then concert at Southwark

Flipped heck @Comefromaway ! I thought we were bad too, but this knocks it into a cocked hat! Including KMK, my DS has 8 shows before Christmas as things currently stand

I didn't say that these shows are taking place in Crewe, Stoke, London, Leeds, Llandudno & Leicester so he really is travelling all over the place!

6 shows here between now and 9th August when KMK opens... Oh boy!

15yo is in the middle of exam week, which is also show week. Been out at tech/dress till 11 each night, then heading in to school to do anything up to 3 exams. Tomorrow is Maths, Physics and Drama (written) before heading straight out the door, into the car and off to the venue to slip on the heels and play a demanding part! Good job he loves it....

(PS if you're wondering, no I absolutely wouldn't let them do it on these timings next year - committed to the show way before school announced which week was the school exam week!)

Checking in! How is everyone? Just over a month to go till my DDs start their BYMT production and it is all starting to feel quite close now with zoom calls and info underway. I'm also really excited to see the NYMT KMK performance. Hope everyone looking forward to a fun summer ahead.

Hello @wonderfullife123 . We finish school this week after a hectic term - first NYMT show this Saturday and then BYMT next month - very exciting! Pleased that we managed to submit the songs as DD had bad hay fever at the start of the week. Are you all ready for next month?

Hi @yodaforpresident how exciting - hope your DD feeling better with the hay-fever. It's been so bad this year. Think we are all set - not looking forward to the packing to be honest but I guess they'll get through even if they forget things.

Funny that this thread has reactivated today. I was just thinking earlier that I would post something. We're getting close to the excitement of summer productions at long last. Glad your DDs are excited @wonderfullife123 and @yodaforpresident . I have tickets for me and DS to watch the NYMT show on Saturday. DS is currently abroad on a post 6th form holiday, but I'm hoping he'll have some energy left to join me in Kingston! Hello from sunny Portugal!! We flying home to Ireland via London and do excited for NYMT in Concert!! Arriving Friday and restaurant booked for pre-theatre dinner and all! DD is really excited but nervous too! @Biscuitsneeded delighted you are going and my dd1 will be delighted to catch up with your ds too 🥰

Break a leg for this weekend to the NYMT concert crew! Look forward to hearing all about it.

I've one finished (A levels), one finishing this Friday and one not finishing till July 20th so it's all go here! We are between shows too locally so finished one on Saturday night and about to start teching the next...

Schedule came through for KMK the other day - it's getting closer!! Excited for that, love to all the excited casts of the summer NYMT and BYMT shows 🤗

@Montimom I'm hoping DS will be in a fit state to attend. I know he will be delighted to see your DD1 if he gets there!

I can’t remember. Ds is going in shorts I think then changing into his trousers later as it will be hot but it might be different for cast
Currently in a premier inn. Ds got rush tickets for guys & dolls. Hope he doesn’t miss the last train back here

Just to say Break a Leg to the When I Grow Up cast, band and crew! Looking forward very much to watching tonight.

Looking forward to hearing all about the concert. Hope all goes well-break a leg everyone! We’re a bit like @allhailthebrain here - GCSEs done, dance show done, then next show coming up in a week’s time, plus rehearsals for two other local shows 😊. Starting to get excited for KMK too!

We decided to come watch this one as a day out in Kingston would be nice but Ds is travelling on his own to the Elephant one & dd who lives in Croydon will watch.
