The thread was full so I've started a new one! Hope everyone will find their way here. Just wanted to say that we have bought tickets to come and watch When I grow Up in Kingston in July. Love Kingston and the Rose Theatre and we're just keen to come and support! Looking forward to seeing some of your talented DC on stage and playing in the band.

Kingston is lovely. We are working out whether to watch the concert there or Southwark.

wonderfullife123 · 17/05/2023 09:53

Checking in! Summer feels like it's getting close now. Currently looking at tickets to take DDs to go and see Kiss me Kate at Leicester Curve instead of getting on with my work...

wonderfullife123 · 18/05/2023 20:13

So sorry just realised I filled the old thread hope everyone finds their way here. Don't use mumsnet much so didn't realise.

Biscuitsneeded · 19/05/2023 05:07

@wonderfullife123 And it's lovely you're thinking of taking your DD to Kiss me Kate. Is that before or after her BYMT show?

Thank you @Biscuitsneeded really looking forward to it. Seeing the concert both in Kingston and Southwark, and of course Armchair! Really hoping to see KMK too

wonderfullife123 · 21/05/2023 17:39

@Biscuitsneeded I've booked the Kiss me Kate tickets now - it is before the girls' BYMT show. I might go to see Armchair too but that will be while they are away. Looking forward to seeing it! Great idea on tagging hope everyone checks in.

Aha! Thought it was quiet!! 👋👋

nearlyhomealone · 21/05/2023 19:13

Thank you @Biscuitsneeded. Looking forward to the shows and to a busy summer/winter. My DS has a place on the NYT intake course too.

Operasingerkath · 21/05/2023 19:38

Thank you @Biscuitsneeded! Excited for KMK - tickets booked for first and last nights. I wish we could get to watch the other shows/concert too, but sadly funds and location will not allow.

allhailthebrain · 21/05/2023 22:43

Hi All!

@nearlyhomealone Congrats to your son on the NYT place. DS did it last year and absolutely loved it. That plus Ragtime made for an incredible summer! I hope yours has a wonderful time.

@nearlyhomealone congrats to him!! Mine also did the course last year but had to do it online which was a bit of a shame - still very happy to get in of course! Hope he has a ball :)

wonderfullife123 · 22/05/2023 12:49

Congratulations to your DS on NYT @nearlyhomealone ! Feels like summer is just around the corner.

yodaforpresident · 24/05/2023 18:58

Thank you @Biscuitsneeded! Well done to your DS on NYT @nearlyhomealone. Summer is very close now and I think we’ve finally managed to book tickets - it’s all very exciting!

Just found my way here from the other thread x thought I hadn't heard anything for a while.

I have a question for anyone whose child has done BYMT before.

Do you know how they cast the parts? Is it during the rehearsal process? Just seen a post on Facebook about some children attending a development weekend for one of the projects (not the one my DD is on) so just wondered if we should expect to attend one of these or not?

Mcmumager · 03/06/2023 00:54

Hi there @Cherylf123 my son has done 2 BYMT projects. The first they didn’t have a development weekend and just cast on the first few days. The second they had the development days but they didn’t know who’d got the parts till they all got together in the summer.

Thank you, my DD is doing Angry Salmon which they did last year so I'm guessing there isn't a development weekend for this reason. I assume if there was one we would have heard already.

yodaforpresident · 03/06/2023 12:28

For those who have done the NYMT in Concert before do you have any suggestions on suitable attire for the show? I know the email says, not all black and to remember that they need to dance in it, but I'm a bit stumped...

Biscuitsneeded · 03/06/2023 12:31

@Cherylf123 So sorry I missed you off the message alerting people that we were here. Glad you found us and have received an answer to your question.

@yodaforpresident Mine hasn't done the concert, but I'm trying to remember what cast members wore last year when we watched it. What instructions have you been given? I think I can remember a couple of nice jumpsuits - tailored as opposed to baggy - which looked smart but still allowed people to dance. Would that work?

Montimom · 03/06/2023 12:42

@yodaforpresident when my DD did concert last year the guidelines were black and one other bright colour, so there was a lot of variation, dungarees, jumpsuits, black jeans, my Dd wore parachute pants as she was in one of the more dancey numbers. Honestly I think anything they can move and feel comfortable in. My younger DD is planning on a bright coloured loose cargo pant and white t-shirt. I don’t think you can get it wrong basically
