Hopefully this will work as we’re at 999 on the other!

@Glittertwins he is 13 or will be in a few weeks anyway. He has regional times and I think its at this level of gala he feels like he is missing out. I'm not convinced they make that much difference but maybe psychologically they will. I'm torn wether to buy some for this years regionals or buy some over the summer for next season or to just tell him to stick to his comfy 2.0s.

Glittertwins · 05/04/2023 08:39

The material of the pure Valor is definitely better than the standard 2.0.
He was 13.5 when we got the first pair

So ds and I were doing a quick list of what he'll need when he goes away. He's away for 17 days.

He'll need summer and spring clothing (Turkey and Germany).

Guess what we realised the thing he doesn't have enough of is? 🤣

Bet he has loads of hoodies though 🤣

itsgettingweird · 05/04/2023 15:30

Plenty of those. Although not sure how much he'll them in Turkey!!!

Also the jammers were a nightmare 🫣

Suggested I ordered a 24 so I ordered a 25 to be safe as ds on the cusp of the hip size.

They WILL NOT even go over his thighs!

So got return for them and ordered him a 26 in different ones as suggested by the chat box.

Let's see how that goes!

Mine was still swimming in his non-technical jammers at age 13/14/15 at Nationals - he got some LZRs not long before he turned 16. It was still when they were fairly new on the market and painfully expensive. Arenas came with their own set of gloves to help ease them on.

I suspect the pressure to get fancy tech suits has ramped up since then though (which is why Scottish Swimming has banned technical suits for the 13 and unders).

Hellocatshome · 05/04/2023 19:20

Well I've found some Pure Valor jammers in the sale for half price in his favourite colour and as it is his birthday the day before regionals so I have bitten the bullet and bought them. I've got the smallest size and still they might be too big so I have told DS he will have to try them on when they come and not to be disappointed if they are too big.

Thank goodness for PayPal pay in 3.

littleroad · 05/04/2023 19:43

Today was a very exciting day in our house. Scottish Swimming finally released the draft for SNAGS and the excitement for DD seeing her name there was almost too much. She has 2 qualifying and 2 consideration times but has got all 4 swims. After massive disappointment last year where ill health meant she missed qualifying events and covid before that, this is her first major event and she’s buzzing. So proud of all our club kids who are going and, as ever, in awe of their dedication and work ethic.

itsgettingweird · 05/04/2023 19:50

Yay - Go mini little road

My ds was so excited last year making his first counties, regionals and nationals. It's so good for them to be happy and enjoying it. And to feel their process goals are working!

WidowTwonky · 06/04/2023 00:58

We have 2 racing jammers, both LZR pure valor (the new aqua beam colour - love the colour!) and the green ones. Has to be high waisted!
Weve tried on all sorts of different makes and models but these are the only ones DS feels happy with

Glittertwins · 06/04/2023 05:10

The sizing is weird, not as weird as arena's though. DS is a 24 in race stuff but 26-28 for training. He has got rather large thighs though so yours will probably be okay.
Well since @littleroad on getting to nationals!

We had racesuit malfunction this week.

30 mins before a finals race DD discovered her brand new pure intent in the same size as the valor she loves - would barely fit over her thighs 🤪

So now I have a brand new racesuit bought a couple of months ago, can't return or swap for larger 🤯

itsgettingweird · 06/04/2023 07:30

Yes it was the pure intent purple reign ds couldn't get over his thighs.

They are going back today and arriving today is fastskin LZR pure intent high waisted ones in black in a bigger size. He would prefer anything in purple but he can only wear what fits 😂

🤞 he can wiggle into those as he wants to wear them for his 100 free at the weekend rather than wear them for the first time in Berlin!

itsgettingweird · 06/04/2023 07:32

I'll let you know how we get on with this version as it's also pure intent and maybe they haven't got the sizing right to actually work 🤣

Glittertwins · 06/04/2023 13:30

We got purple reign in pure valor as he managed to tear his beloved black ones. The compression is quite a lot more in the other ones so I'll be driving to a retailer to try those on before committing to buying. Thank goodness I only really have to buy for a boy, girls stuff is so much more expensive

OP posts:
itsgettingweird · 06/04/2023 13:48

Well I'm not sure what ds will end up with.

BS emailed today asking what race suit they want and what size.

As I'm still trying to work out what size he is in Speedo and his preferred style it could be an interesting exercise 🤣

Glittertwins · 06/04/2023 13:49

He'll get a good supply of race and training stuff 👍🏻

OP posts:
itsgettingweird · 06/04/2023 13:50

Is the valor much more close to their actual measurement sizing?

Their choice is pure intent or valor (then high or low waist)

I'm wondering if these intents don't fit to just risk ordering the valor ones and using Speedo size chart?!

itsgettingweird · 06/04/2023 13:51

Glittertwins · 06/04/2023 13:49

He'll get a good supply of race and training stuff 👍🏻

Looks like it. Although I didn't realise that.

I'm actually thinking of returning these once we've size tested as how many pairs of race jammers does one person need 🤷‍♀️🤣

Glittertwins · 06/04/2023 14:02

Well I'd say at least 2 pairs of race jammers. I know plenty that change after each race although DS is a bit lazier on that front but if there are two sessions in a day, he'll change.
There's a para swimmer in the next squad up and they have tons of stuff from BS

OP posts:
itsgettingweird · 06/04/2023 14:32

He already has 2 pairs.

Admittedly one pair is his old 2.0s that are almost dead (they are pre pandemic ones!) and we were buying a more decent pair for his current good ones to become his spare/ 2nd pair.

But I'm pretty sure his decent ones haven't got much shelf life left either tbh!

I'm intrigued to know which para swimmer you have now! There's some amazing ones out there that ds aspires to be as good as!

itsgettingweird · 06/04/2023 16:07

Jammers update 🤣🤣🤣

He's squeezed into his intent high waisted jammers so we know what size he needs.

We actually ended up googling and watching a you tube video on how to get them on. 🫣🙄🧐

He wasn't impressed when I mentioned the top swimmers had gloves and I had a thin cheap gardening gloves he could try with 🤣🤣

Think some of the issue is ds disability as it affects his hands but he did it and knows he needs 15 minutes to wiggle into them after warm up so that's a timing issue solved too 😅

itsgettingweird · 06/04/2023 16:08

But yes glitter. I can see why they need a pair per session. There's NO WAY he's getting these on if he or them are even slightly damp 🤯🤣

Glittertwins · 06/04/2023 16:12

They do dry out incredibly quickly at least! The para swimmers are on a PM 😉
