So, with BYMT auditions already underway and NYMT open for booking, it's surely time for a 2022 thread?? Who's in?

Submitted DD's NYMT actor self-tape and booked her audition today, eek! Need to also get her musician audition recorded this side of Christmas as we go on hols on 27th and she's back to school on 4/5th (PCR dependent 🙈)

Really enjoyed watching Chess and Cinderella - congratulations to all involved! Just Ragtime to go now. DS says it is going to be amazing. Can't wait to see it!

I wish we were closer and were able to go and watch.

@Comefromaway I feel for you. I hate not being able to do things because of cost/distance etc.

I forgot to say that I was very lucky and got to see the workshop performance too, as I managed to arrive early for Ragtime pick up and was kindly invited by a parent. That is going to be an amazing show next year. I laughed lots, was almost crying at one point - was really moved and entertained. @allhailthebrain @Montimom your DC were amazing!

anyone around to talk about how AMAZING Ragtime was? I was quite blown away by the magnificence of it all. Perfectly-cast. Amazing singing. Wonderful band. I could run out of superlatives to describe how great it was.

Yep.. absolutely incredible!! A great end to a great season. Now roll on Christmas!!

@DoReMeDo I totally agree. I can't remember what your DC's involvement was or whether they have done NYMT before. I hope they enjoyed being apart of it as much as my DS did.

I had a kid in the Chess band and a younger one in the Ragtime band. It was the younger one's first time with NYMT and they have been living their best life.

Weird day today, unpacking not just literally but emotionally. So much to talk about. Fantastic way to have spent 2 weeks of the hols. Younger one really wants to do it again next year, which is a good sign.

@DoReMeDo that's great they loved it so much.
I'm also still mentally processing it all. DS has been telling me that every performance after the finale of Act One they would go off stage and everyone was pretty much silent for a few minutes because Till we Reach that Day had taken so much out of them emotionally and in terms of stamina. There were tears. I know they are theatre kids and they do love to be dramatic, but part of the thrill of that number, apart from the simply glorious sound they made, was seeing how much it meant to them all.

I had the heads-up that there were some sad bits. But that scene before the Interval knocked me for six. Not so much the story line but the power of that ensemble piece, and all the connotations. It was all very thought-provoking on many levels. Will read the book!

Oh, and the two young cast members crying at the end had me in bits too. Bless them.

Congratulations to everyone on a fantastic BYMT/NYMT season! Sounds like everyone had an incredible time. DS adored his time on Cinderella and loved the opportunity to be part of the creation of a new show.
Now on to the Xmas concerts and before long it will be audition time again! But please don’t let it be self-tapes😆

How on earth are they going to accommodate everyone who wants to do the Christmas concert!?

@Comefromaway Not everyone will want to or be available. It's quite a big venue and they will stuff them into every available space! It's a lovely occasion but fairly informal - just the one rehearsal usually on a Saturday in November, and then a rehearsal on the day. So it'really nice for those who can make it to have a sing and see some of their cast/bandmates but it won't be 4 full companies. It's harder to get the older ones for lots of reasons.

Oh and I fear self-tapes may be here to stay, but more as a reference point to support the live first round audition - not instead of. At least I hope!
