So, with BYMT auditions already underway and NYMT open for booking, it's surely time for a 2022 thread?? Who's in?

Submitted DD's NYMT actor self-tape and booked her audition today, eek! Need to also get her musician audition recorded this side of Christmas as we go on hols on 27th and she's back to school on 4/5th (PCR dependent 🙈)

thanks @Comefromaway - my ds is the one kissing the teacher! Was quite amusing seeing posters of him snogging 😂😂😂.

@Biscuitsneeded I’m sure we will be back on the audition rollercoaster next year.

Hi he was really good, we came to see it on Sunday as my son was in Breadboy (and had the best time) and wanted to support BYMT , we were chatting to Cerys after Breadboy and said we would as we were just down the road (unlike Belfast 😆) was a great show.

Starship9 · 11/08/2022 00:33

@disorganisedmummy sorry been crazy busy today. Did you talk this evening? I called DD but she's not very chatty. Think it's because she doesn't want to look uncool to her slightly older roommate. Frustrating but she seems fine so I guess I should be pleased. Not long til we get to see them for 36 hours 😂

Mcmumager · 11/08/2022 20:50

Glad you enjoyed it @Quitelikeacatslife . Breadboy looked great too and so interesting with all the history in Belfast.

Biscuitsneeded · 12/08/2022 22:35

Lots of good reviews coming in for Chess. And Tim Rice posted a very kind message in response to a dress rehearsal clip posted on Twitter, praising the performer (playing Svetlana). And NYMT alumni being announced for pro shows left, right and centre over the last few days which has been lovely to see.
I do enjoy this time of year! Now looking forward to (hopefully) getting to watch Cinderella next week if I possibly can!

disorganisedmummy · 12/08/2022 22:45

I've been reading the reviews of Chess and they're wonderful. I would have loved to see it.
Ds has been much happier over the last few days and is really enjoying himself. Home tomorrow afternoon for 36 hours! I'm going to see the opening night on Thursday and then final night on Saturday. At the beginning of the week he said he would never audition again, now he's said he's seriously thinking about auditioning next year (although obv no guarantees he will get in). I just wish we could have some more photos and videos.

Comefromaway · 12/08/2022 23:24

Wonderful reviews for Chess I agree. And glad your Ds is happier.

My Ds was taken I’ll part way through the show tonight. He was looked after very well and somehow managed to keep going, only missing one song.

But he’s back in his room feeling rough. Fingers crossed he feels better in the morning.

Starship9 · 13/08/2022 07:22

@disorganisedmummy that's a real turnaround, so glad he's settled in. I'm only watching the last show, dd says it's a brilliant musical I can't wait. Apparently I won't see her though as drums and percussion will be in a separate room with the conductor appearing on a monitor!!

disorganisedmummy · 13/08/2022 08:08

Comefromaway* Oh no, hope your ds is ok? Do you think it was the heat?
Hope he feels better soon. X

disorganisedmummy · 13/08/2022 08:11

Starship9. I had heard that though not from ds. I hope he knows. I'm a bit disappointed we won't see them as I love to see him play. Ds asked for Snapchat as loads of company have it. This is huge for him (he has Asperger's, can't remember if I've said!). It also means that he's made friends with like minded kids. Can't wait to see him this afternoon. X

Biscuitsneeded · 13/08/2022 11:09

It must be frustrating not to be able to see your DC if they are instrumentalists, although that is quite normal for the pit band I would think. At Chess the band got to come onstage for bows, so fingers crossed it's the same for Cinderella and Ragtime. Glad the DC who were a bit shell shocked at the start have settled are now enjoying it! NYMT do work them hard, but the end result is always very much worth the intensity, and great friendships get made.

Comefromaway · 13/08/2022 11:46

ds is feeling much better this morning. He thinks it might be something he ate.

it was a big luxury to have the musicians on stage for Showcase but it did make the stage cramped for the performers.

and yes, they bring them on for a bow at Chess.

my son is autistic too disorganisedmummy

Biscuitsneeded · 13/08/2022 22:15

@Comefromaway Glad to hear your DS was better by today. Would have been too sad to be ill for the final day of Chess. Hope they've all had a great run and the post-show blues aren't too bad!

Comefromaway · 14/08/2022 00:16

I have no words.

im expecting a major crash tomorrow (combination of post show blues and autism related over sOcialsation. It started back at the hotel being angsty over phone chargers but for the moment he is out on the town with his band mates!

Biscuitsneeded · 14/08/2022 08:16

Did you watch last night, then, @Comefromaway ? Hope you enjoyed it. Also hope your DS had a good final day and enjoyed partying afterwards. The post show blues are always painful, but it sounds as if he has a lot to look forward to. And he can always apply again next year!

Comefromaway · 14/08/2022 16:01

Yes. We watched last night.

ds got in at 4am! He’s most definitely not a clubber usually.

we’ve just watched Billy Elliot and are on the way home.

at the start of the week Ds was saying he didn’t think he would apply next year. He’s now speculating what type of shows they might do and what sort of thing he would hope p he accepted into.

disorganisedmummy · 14/08/2022 16:09

Comefromaway I'm chuckling over your ds getting in at 4am!! He sounds so similar to my ds in getting completely over stimulated. I'm expecting a crash next Sunday. Atm he's in the sofa chilling but literally didn't stop taking about it last night. He also went from saying he will never doing it again at the start of the week to saying he will definitely apply and also wondering what shows they will do next year. He wants to do a big one like Chess. One lovely thing was that he said he would love to be with the same band next year but obv highly unlikely.
Hope the post show blues aren't too bad.

Starship9 · 14/08/2022 20:28

Exact same from my dd @disorganisedmummy! Really can't wait to watch the show 😆

Comefromaway · 15/08/2022 11:13

All the best to those starting Ragtime or Armchair today.

How lovely.

My ds is the opposite now. Having done a big show (Chess) plus the Showcase he would now love to be involved in one of the developed shows with the potential of creative input?

Biscuitsneeded · 15/08/2022 16:49

@Comefromaway thank you. DS went to Ragtime residential on Saturday (straight from NYT, I was very impressed that he had found somewhere to do all his washing!) and I think the band arrived today. And the workshop company too. That one should be really good given who's involved.
Two little Chess clips for you in case anyone didn't see them on Twitter:

1st day of production week and ds (viola) posted this on his instagram!

Starship9 · 15/08/2022 20:31

@disorganisedmummy dd also very excited about the high level of 'tech' for production week!!

Comefromaway · 16/08/2022 08:22

Because we are a lovely little supportive group here I hope it’s ok to share that last night I discovered that whilst he was away performing in Chess Ds had missed an email from UCAS confirming that he has met his offer conditions for Leeds Conservatoire)

it was a very low offer in terms of grades so he almost guaranteed to but it’s nice to have it in writing)

Omg, wow!! That is such amazing news. I'm so thrilled for your ds!!

My ds will be going through this in just over a year. He's at Junior Trinity currently and wants to audition for Senior Trinity, Guildhall,RCM and RBC. 😱. He did mention RNCM but we're in Essex so felt it was a bit far.
