Thought I'd start a thread now that the shows have been revealed. Who's got a DC or student applying? I have a feeling in my bones it won't be my DS's year this time - he's nearly 15, voice not broken but not reliable either, and apart from the one show we don't know I can't see anything he could obviously do! But he'll give it best shot and if no luck we'll still watch the shows. Good luck to all!

Hi all, I hope those still waiting for news last night have now been put out of their misery? Very much hope it was good news.

Just wondering if anyone on here has any views on whether the BYMT or NYMT Easter/summer residential courses are better for a relatively young child? (aged 11). I presume the theatrical experience will be fantastic at both so more focused on the pastoral care I guess.

Biscuitsneeded · 27/02/2020 10:40

I'll message you manicmumsday!

I have heard of a yes for Imaginary so fingers crossed this means positive news from now on...

Brilliant news @biscuitsneed
Congrats to your DS

DS just got a yes for Kiss me Kate so anyone who’s still waiting will hopefully know soon!

I’ll go and relax now! 😆

Triflefan · 27/02/2020 12:16

I read that as I’ve had a yes 🤦🏼‍♀️

Biscuitsneeded · 27/02/2020 12:35

Ah no, not for DS - he wasn't recalled for Imaginary or KMK and they seem to be the ones going out now. Going in show date order.

minimits · 27/02/2020 12:48

Triflefan my DS also has KMK and is also 16 about to do GCSE’s! Sure they will encourage each other to revise-haha!!!!! Yay to the yesses! Fourth year lucky!

Triflefan · 27/02/2020 13:00

@Biscuitsneeded Sorry, I knew that my mind was in a mess!

@minimits
Well done to your DS too! I wonder if they have been in the same groups?
I’m forbidden to tell anyone because understandably, he wants to do it himself so it feels acceptable to share here!

Paddleroundthepier · 27/02/2020 13:06

just found this thread - hello everyone!

Any musicians heard yet? (not actor-musicians but 'pit' musicians?)

just wondering when this is likely to be?

folkmamma · 27/02/2020 13:24

Hi @Paddleroundthepier, they still haven't made musician decisions. Still some auditions to do i believe...

ZakStarkey · 27/02/2020 13:25

Musician auditionee here - heard nothing yet

folkmamma · 27/02/2020 13:25

Paddleroundthepier · 27/02/2020 13:41

Thanks @folkmamma good to know - the waiting game continues!

Biscuitsneeded · 27/02/2020 16:16

Oops, later

folkmamma · 27/02/2020 18:06

Truly brilliant news @Biscuitsneeded and just goes to show what a talent he is to have made it despite the breaking voice agony....

manicmumsday · 27/02/2020 18:12

After an evening of disappointment last night, it’s so lovely to hear the success stories today. Well done to all of your very talented kids, especially to those who conquered unpredictable breaking voices (yay, biscuitsneeded!!) and who triumphed after prior rejections (love the 4th time lucky story, minimits, gives me hope for DS to try again next year).

minimits · 27/02/2020 20:38

manicmumsday absolutely keep trying! DS tried for imaginary when it first came round and got through to recall. He didn’t get in but had an amazing experience with BYMT instead. He’s done this for the last three years and just kept trying for NYMT! Believe me last year was really hard when he recalled for two shows and didn’t get anything and I’ve been so impressed at how he’s just kept going. I have to admit I’m not sure I could have watched him try another year! Let’s just say he’s a little bit happy tonight but I absolutely empathise with the disappointment of not getting through and you just have to know there are other opp

minimits · 27/02/2020 20:40

Whoops-opportunities ahead!

lolacharlie43 · 28/02/2020 01:00

Congrats to everyone who got in this year!! My DD made callbacks this year but it was a no this year sadly. Last year she was cast in GROWL but the year before it was a no at callbacks, so we know how tough the whole process can be and what a great achievement it is to make it through to the callback stage itself. Have fun this year everyone and enjoy the whole experience of NYMT 2020 :-)

Biscuitsneeded · 28/02/2020 07:26

So sorry to read that LolaCharlie. DS has a couple of friends in this situation and it is so tough for them when they've had rhe NYMT experience and loved it. Don't know how old your DD is but mid-teens seems to be a particularly challenging age to get cast. I am sure they and your DD will be back another year and I hope she isn't too disappointed.

OP posts:
Triflefan · 28/02/2020 10:15

They all deserve huge congratulations for even being recalled.

Hope the musicians aren’t kept too much longer.

Thanks for all the info everyone has provided. I was driving myself slightly mad until I found this thread.
I may see some of you in April. I’ll be wondering who’s who! 🕵️‍♂️
