Would love to join you, but i might find it a bit too chilly.

Just remember also, MN team for end of June, mega bush run on safari.

popsycal · 28/09/2009 20:30

i think any race fromnowon should hve a MN team

Wallace · 28/09/2009 20:37

I would definitely be up for it if I'm not doing the whole thing by myself

master - I did mention that to dh but he didn't seem so keen. I'll keep trying

popsycal · 28/09/2009 20:43

fishie · 28/09/2009 20:44

popsy enter enter enter. you know you want to...

liath · 29/09/2009 07:49

I've already said that I'll run in the same team as last year, otherwise I'd be up for that popsy. Although at the moment I'm convinced I'll never run again . Goddam ankle.

popsycal · 29/09/2009 20:06

Ok - I have entered a local 10k on 8th Novenmber hosted by the running club that I amthinking of joining. It looks like it will have around 500 entries - maybe a little less. Looked at last year's times and I should not come last! It tis the course where I did my first ever Race For Life - but two loops.

Off to find a 5 week 10k plan ;)

popsycal · 29/09/2009 20:18

BAck to the old faithful bupa plans - lots of the others look too comlicated!

I have upgraded myself to the intermediate plan though

And I honestly didn't cast a glance at the marathon training plan. no honest

fishie · 29/09/2009 20:20

ooh well done. how often do you get out popsy? i am going to struggle once clocks go back, no more forest for me during the week.

girlsyearapart · 29/09/2009 20:24

Hellooo, can i join in??

Did my first 5k which was race for life in May (i think?) which was around 38 mins.

Target was to run whole thing mo stops which I managed.

Giddy with success entered the Run 10k for Cancer Research which I did on Sunday.

Same target- run no stops.

Did 1.25 which I was quite pleased with no stops and last 500m sprint.

Giddy with success entered Resolution 15k run for Stroke Association which is on Dec 6th.

Have I bitten off more than I can chew..??

peachsmuggler · 29/09/2009 21:03

Welcome girlsyear! Sounds like you are on a roll. You should have no problem getting up to 15k by start of December if you have done a 10k. Good stuff!

You'll be doing a marathon with popsy this time next year

Am contemplating intervals tomorrow. Haven't done any in 3 months but IT IS TIME!

girlsyearapart · 29/09/2009 21:38

Don't think a marathon just yet..
We're trying (ish!) for baby no 3 so could well be up the duff and running for two in Dec!

IdrisTheDragon · 29/09/2009 23:33

Hello

I did post on this thread (or its predecessor) a while ago in a previous incarnation of LovelyRitaMeterMaid.

Not sure if I qualify to be on a proper runners' thread but having started with couch to 5k in April I can now do 5k . And am doing it about 3 times a week. Takes me about 30 min (get excited when it is less than 30 min ).

I am doing a BHF 5k on Sunday - could have done a 10k but wasn't sure my legs would be up to it.

Not sure what to do next in terms of running - I am quite happy with my thrice weekly running while DD is at pre-school but now I have got to my target of 30 min for 5k I'm not sure what to aim for next. I have a nike plus thingy and have seen there is a 10k event on 24th October but not sure what I'd get out of knowing I was a lot slower than lots of people

peachsmuggler · 30/09/2009 09:53

Hi idris

You will ALWAYS be able to find people that you are slower than. The trick is not to worry about anyone else and just set your own goals. Doing a 10k is a great achievement and and the training will help keep you motivated. If you don't feel ready for the race on the 24th then see if there is another one in November.

IdrisTheDragon · 30/09/2009 13:09

Hello peachsmuggler

Forgot to say it is a special nikeplus 10k that you can do anywhere so no one would need to see me (except the people round here who are presumably getting used to me going around the place). Will take a bit longer though - will have to warn DH before I set off

peachsmuggler · 30/09/2009 13:38

Even better! Go to it woman!!!

Well I did my intervals this morning. Nothing too extreme, just 20 mins of 1 min fast 2 mins slow after a warmup and then a warm down at the end. Was ok actually....and goddamnit, I LOVE running in Autumn. Bring on that winter weather!!!

sfxmum · 30/09/2009 18:07

hello all

glad to hear everyone seems well motivated

have had throat infection keeping me from running hopefully Friday will shuffle along for a bit to work up a sweat

OP posts:
popsycal · 30/09/2009 18:16

(popsy thinks about posting about her sub 55 min 10k aspirations for nov 8th but givesherself agood shake instead )

Wheelybug · 30/09/2009 18:17

Hi can I join in !?!

I was running lots last year before getting pg and have now got back to 5K since having dd2.

Current aim is Great North next year as the person I started running with did is this year and said it was fab. Want to find 5k/10k before that and then do the Kingston breakfast run in March (8 miles).

Does anyone do some of their running in a gym ? I can't get out in the week now as DH doesn't usually get in until too late and I have tried to run with a buggy but find it too difficult. So, have joined a gym and have booked 2 sessions in creche for dd a week and may be able to get another ad hoc one. Then am going to run outside at weekends. Not ideal - would much rather run outside but better than nothing I thought ?

popsycal · 30/09/2009 18:19

welcome wheelybug

IdrisTheDragon · 30/09/2009 18:52

Saw a poster near school this afternoon saying there is a run on 29th November at the place where I am doing my run on Sunday. Again there will be the choice of 5k or 10k. May pluck up the courage to enter for 10k .

Although it says something to do with reindeers. I am Not wearing antlers.

IdrisTheDragon · 30/09/2009 18:55

Have found the reindeer website.

There will be "free reindeer antlers for everyone who takes part".

I hope you get them at the end of the race .

popsycal · 30/09/2009 18:57

di it
iam doing a santarun

IdrisTheDragon · 30/09/2009 18:58

No, have looked and I will get Antlers within 21 days of registering.

And fancy dress is encouraged.

10k race starts an hour before the 5k one. Means I will at least be likely to finish while the other people are running.

Only thing to think about is that it is a key time for all day marking I do .

IdrisTheDragon · 30/09/2009 19:00

My finger is poised on the enter now button. But I will not be in fancy dress
