I'll do this! Am running a half marathon the weekend before but should be up for a 10k. It might be slow...

Off to bed on a technical high

popsycal · 01/12/2009 10:28

moshi - are you sure 16k is 7 ish miles? I would have thought further...?

popsycal · 01/12/2009 10:29

we could do some groups of three - 2x 15-16k plus one 10k....(ish)

popsycal · 01/12/2009 10:31

moshib -16k is almost 10 miles....

MoshiMoshi · 01/12/2009 10:34

Yes, you are right! Ha ha. Sorry sleep deprived still. I was thinking 2.2k to the mile (hmm, perhaps that is why I am still not losing baby weight?!)

I had better do two laps of the park then:

IdrisTheDragon
Themasterandmargaritas 15 or 16 if it fits better
Wheelybug 5 or 10K - whichever fits
Stickylittlefingers
MoshiMoshi 14.7m/23.66k(can round up if easier?)

MnMarathon · 01/12/2009 10:35

Moshi - you sure you are happy with 14ish miles?

MoshiMoshi · 01/12/2009 10:52

popsy - sorry one handed now baby awake on lap. yes one lap won't generate much sponsorship but if i say i am doing two as part of a coordinated effort that should get everyone to cough up! i suspect it will be ugly and not one of my better times mind !

stickylittlefingers · 01/12/2009 12:38

Hi - just to say I will fit in with whatever. I will try on Saturday to garner more support (we're having a meet up in Durham - hopefully ply them with a few beers and sign them up!! No harm in trying )

sfxmum · 01/12/2009 12:41

moshi I will likely be doing Richmond park too but the more modest ballet school loop or just kew-richmond river footpath

OP posts:
Wheelybug · 01/12/2009 15:55

swfxmum- whar's your ballet school loop ? where does it start etc ? how far ? thanks - I usually run out and back along a path IYSWIM. A loop would be good. I got round the perimeter once... in the old days...

sfxmum · 01/12/2009 16:15

wheelybug the route starts at Sheen Gate it is 5miles or there is the full loop which is 7.5 miles, so as I only plan on a slow 6miles/10K will go for the shorter one I think, haven't been there in a while but want to do longer weekend runs at the park over the next few months

Murakami's boob!!! MURAKAMI'S BOOB!!!

WHo on earth recommended this to me?!!!

For someone who always protests that they do not have any time to read, I have managed to get to page 119 in under 24 hours. Needless to say, my child care skills and housework have gone by the wayside! I love this book. I take my two oldest to a sports club on Tuesday evening and normally take loads of marking to do whilst they are in there. A quiet hour for me to catch up. But no. OUt came the boob!!!

So today I finally finally managed to get out for a run! Freezing cold but clear. Excellent running weather in my opinion. I set the iPod at 60 minutes and set off. Nice little figure of 8 loop with a little bit added on the end.

The intention was a slow 10k, but that was under an hour, then I got to an hour and had some odd distance off 6.46 miles. Is it just me or do others feel weird about miles/times not being 'nice' numbers? So - I ran until I reached 7 miles 1:04.02

I really enjoyed the run today. I dd not really push myself as I am conscious of the fact that I am not running anywhere near as regularly as I would like. Want to get back to 2-3 times per week over the winter months.

Today's highlight - or perhaps lowlight - a small black kitten eating vomit during my last mile. HAs to be the weirdest thing i have ever seen whilst running

girlsyearapart · 01/12/2009 19:50

i'm doing 15k in richmond park for the Stroke Association on sunday.
The e mail details say it's 11.7 k round the Tamsin trail. Then they'll do an extension to make it 15k.

Any tips anyone? I've never even run in Richmond Park before as the dog is a deer chaser!

Also happy to do that 'ballet school loop' when the time comes.

Wheelybug · 01/12/2009 20:00

I've only done the Tamsin trail once Girls - a week before I found out I was pg last yr.
Beware of the 2 big hills on either side (one nr the Isabella Plantation car park, the other on the opposite side of the park. Obv you'll go down one of them but they are really steep. When I set off to run it DH said to me 'run from kingston gate anticlockwise then you'll be going down the hill at Isabella. He'd forgotten that there was another the other side'....

My first challenge though is the ballet school loop I think !

Twink · 01/12/2009 20:07

Just a quickie tonight to say how much reading this means to me.

Sorry to say that MrT left us at 05.30 this morning, it was very calm, he was truly at peace at the end and I was with him throughout. As ever, in Twinkland, we have a positive, he wanted to avoid hospital and we were lucky enough to be able to keep him with us at home.

I'm absolutely bereft, despite 'knowing' it was coming, nothing could have ever prepare me for losing the most fabulous, tough bloke/dad/husband I could ever have hoped to meet. 22 years of trouble, strife, skintness and above all overwhelming happiness with a gorgeous dd to boot.

MrT 1957-2009

My mum's already said she's going to kick me out of the door for a run in the morning ;-)
