Thanks Tuttutter and peach.

I have decided the fast walking is the way to go. Same path as run but not running. Also will see if I can do some swimming the odd night when bf has settled a bit.

A postnatal personal trainer sounds fab, I take it you could do the exercise plan without your new dc with you?

TutTutter · 22/11/2009 18:05

yes. but a lot of what i did with him was focused on working on the core, pelvic floor, etc. a couple of years on and it's not such a priority. i saw him through my second pregnancy too

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 22/11/2009 18:11

Hello Tutter. How you doing?

ThatVikRinA22 · 22/11/2009 18:12

so when i grow up into a proper runner can i come join you all on this thread?

im aiming for 5k in 5 weeks time! 5k seems very little compared to you all! but im sticking with it and really enjoying it, when does it get easier?

popsycal · 22/11/2009 18:55

uneventful 50 minute run tyo report

popsycal · 22/11/2009 18:58

ipod died om me that shoupld say

Themasterandmargaritas · 23/11/2009 08:57

popsy. How far is the local race? Its always good if you can see where the money is going to/for.

I have spent the weekend learning how to sail so I am a bit battered and bruised. But I was so desperate to get out this morning, I managed 10k in my fastest time ever.

Soya I got your message, thank you and have replied

Vicar, honestly cross my heart and hope to die, it gets easier very quickly. Stick with it and you will be doing 10k in no time.

What's OMM Twink?

hatwoman · 23/11/2009 09:07

twink - I'm so sorry to hear the latest on Mr T. thinking of you and your family

hatwoman · 23/11/2009 09:14

OMM - Original Mountain Marathon.one of my friends has done one...and talks about doing one again - I'm not keen as my navigational skills just aren't up to it. they do mini moutain marathons near here - just 3 hours long, I might do one of them at some stage.

had a good weekend - did a fast 5m on Saturday and a slow and hilly 10m on sunday. gearing up to enter full training mode. really want to get out at least 4 times a week now. maybe even 5

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 23/11/2009 09:19

dh did the OMM some years ago. He was the fittest he'd ever been and it was grim, but he really enjoyed it. The weather was appalling It was the OMM that got flooded out last year wasn't it? dh's navigational skills aren't gold standard either hat but the guy he did it with is fab. Just a good job he didn't have an accident otherwise they'd still be there...

Themasterandmargaritas · 23/11/2009 11:34

Now I feel even more inadequate.

TutTutter · 23/11/2009 11:40

LOVE the idea of the OMM, but will leave that for another life year

have any of you heard of the "arch to arc"? run from marble arch to dover, swim the channel, cycle from calais to paris . the first woman will do it next year - dh had an email from her asking for sponsorship

back to reality, i managed my first outside run in a couple of weeks this morning. 7ish miles and wasn't too bad - a bit boggy underfoot but mild and only drizzly. hope to get out again tomorrow to make up for a rubbish couple of weeks

hatwoman · 23/11/2009 12:23

arch to arc - ffs! when will this madness stop...probably only when someone has spent their entire life either running, swimming or on a bike...

friend of dh's has got a place in the Marathon de Sables in a couple of years. what makes people do this stuff?

hatwoman · 23/11/2009 12:27

oh rofl at the arch to arc. don't skip straight to it but I pmsl at the last line of this article.

hatwoman · 23/11/2009 12:32

I should be working, but am having too much fun laughing at ENDUROMAN (said in cartoon super-hero voice). these people are nuts.

Themasterandmargaritas · 23/11/2009 12:58

A friend of ours has done Marathon des Sables. Bonkers. He is hard as bloody nails.

TutTutter · 24/11/2009 13:42

ten miles today. enjoyed it, despite boggy conditions and wind in my face. have resolved to be brave and run outside whatever the weather from now on (found treadmill running last week deathly)

IdrisTheDragon · 24/11/2009 19:56

Have rather fallen off the running wagon - am doing 10k on Sunday and have not been running enough. Did 5k today in just over 30 min and am planning to run to the dentist tomorrow. Am wondering if this is mad or not (dentist only a few miles away ).

Probably depends on weather as would prefer not to arrive in manner of drenched rat....

popsycal · 24/11/2009 20:01

I absolutely have to make time to run more

Idris -do it. YOu will be fine for you 10K. The first 10k i did, 4 miles was my top distance. Gwan gwan gwan gwan

My run on 3rd jan is 8 ish miles.I say 'ish' as it is a 'race not a run' and will not be timed (apart from my anal ipod timing )

I need something else though.

I really have no time to join a running club though this is really what I want to do.,

Looks like I will be temporarily incresingly my hours in Jan (DH redundant and my lovely boss is trying to find me a day or two more for the rest of the academic year)

If I have to speak to one moreincom, petent person when trying to claim what we are eligible for I think I willscream

not feeling very good

popsycal · 24/11/2009 20:03

OMG I have just had a bruilllaitn idea!!!!

The first MN half marathon. Or 5k, or 10k, or whatever.

We set a date and depending on our current level of fitness,we pledge to run a certain distance on a certain date.

IdrisTheDragon · 24/11/2009 20:16

I like that idea . Doing the Nike 10k a bit ago was a good way to get me running it.

popsycal · 24/11/2009 20:38

i am ordering murakami's boob on amazon with my xmas shopping in a buid to cheer myself up

popsycal · 24/11/2009 20:47

An extrapolation of my original idea.

A MN marathon relay (or several depnding oninterest) annd get MNer to donate to what ever charity Twink and Mr Twink choose

Themasterandmargaritas · 25/11/2009 06:33

Nice idea popsy, I'm game Rain or no rain. Murukami's boob is just what you need for a bit of motivation.

Sorry to hear things are a bit tough for you and dh just now.

Wheelybug · 25/11/2009 11:45

sounds a good idea Popsy - I need something to aim for.

Not much running here of late - last tues gym session was a bit of a right off, had visitors friday so didn't go to gym, ill sunday and tues (so no run or gym). Should make gym friday but then dd2 is being christened on sunday so no run and out with friends on tues so no gym. Arrrgghh.
