ooh we need a thirty-something playlist.

I will kick it off.

Copy and paste and add to it

  1. aha take on me
2, inxs - disappear
  1. duran duran - the relfex
  2. happy mpndays - kinky afro
  3. james - sit down
  4. primal scream - er....cant rememeber that name loaded maybe?
  5. valerie - the zutons (ok not 1990 but i liek it)
stakethroughtheheartofgold · 30/10/2009 21:28

fools gold is the perfect 5k tempo i found.

can't help thinking "sit down" might be somewhat demotivating

popsycal · 30/10/2009 21:31

forgot my stone roses!!!

I like mersey paradise and sally cinamon for up beat smiley songs

aha take on me isperfect for setting the pace for a 8-8:30/mile

am sure morten, pal and mags didnt not have this inmind

popsycal · 30/10/2009 21:32

ressurection too

oh I would love to be 18 again but with the knowledge ii have now

and obvioiusly with my beautiful boys too

Wheelybug · 30/10/2009 21:37

Popping in - been on hols. Was meant to be an opportunity to get some running in with DH around but got a shcoking cold so no running. Did a 5 mile bike ride but wasn't quite the same thing.

Love the playlist. I too am around that age - am going to add these on. Trying to remember what I have on mine from this era -

Size of a Cow - Wonderstuff
There she goes - the Las
Wake up - Boo Radleys
Staying out for the summer - Dodgy

popsycal · 30/10/2009 21:48

wheelybug - yes, yes, yes and yes!!!

size of a cow!!!
fabulous

popsycal · 30/10/2009 21:50

common people - Pulp?

Themasterandmargaritas · 31/10/2009 04:50

oh yes I added some Pulp to my playlist before running last Sunday, they were very motivational!

Wheely I love your suggestions. Sadly I can't download here those I don't have. Perhaps someone can kindly do me an 80/90's running tracks CD???

Stake, twice this week is brilliant, well done you! If you feel like going out again, why not?

Wheelybug · 31/10/2009 06:51

oh yes, Pulp (memories of the NEC somewhere around 1995...) - what about 'lets all meet up in the year 2000' (am not sure that's what its called but you know the one.)

Right - am going to go through my cd collection. Magherita - am happy to put some on cd for you if you like. List those you don't have and I'll do what I can !

hatwoman · 31/10/2009 08:46

I never really appreciated pulp til I put it on my i-pod and starting running to it. the lyrics are so dark. I think whatsisname (I'm assuming he wrote the lyrics) is a genius.

girlsyearapart · 31/10/2009 09:12

am at all you running people..

I've been in bed all week with a stupid kidney infection. Doctor didn't listen when I said the antibiotics he gave me didn't work last time and I ended up in hospital.

Anyway what d'ya know they didn't work again so had to wait for lab results before more heavy duty ones were prescribed. In meantime have been mainlining painkillers every 4 hours, farming the girls out to other people and haven't been running for a week.

Got a 10k next sunday gawd knows how I'll manage done so little. Starting to feel better now- what training shall I do to save the situation in a week?? HELP

Themasterandmargaritas · 31/10/2009 09:22

Girls poor you, that's dreadful. Are you sure you are up to doing a 10k next week?

If you are really sure, then I would suggest perhaps a 5k, 8k, 5k, Mon, Wed, Fri. Listen to what your body tells you though and stop if you are just not feeling right.

popsycal · 01/11/2009 19:12

flying visit
parkruns- free timed 5k runs every saturday around the country

also
just ben watching a race called tough guy 2009 on itv4 - one for you hatwoman and twink

Wallace · 01/11/2009 19:27

No parkruns near me, but we do three 5k time trials a year with runnning club

girls - eek are you sure you'll be okay?

JJ · 01/11/2009 20:12

Oh, I'm liking all the song recommendations. I keep meaning to put an Indie Soup playlist on but forget.. oh wait, it just occurred to me to do it now, so it's downloading as I type.

Yes, agree with Wallace - eek girls! I hope you feel better extremely soon.

popsy, there's one near me, wahoo! And the training plan suggests doing one every so often, so I might try that. If I get up enough nerve... the times are pretty fast.

I haven't gone out for a run since Tuesday and, instead, I've eaten myself silly. Am going out tomorrow but on my own - my training partner is spending the week in NY with her husband.

stakethroughtheheartofgold · 01/11/2009 20:31

we have a parkrun - i make sure i go out really early on days it's on so there's absolutely no chance of me getting caught up in it. i'm a shy runner.

i went out for 5k (with walking break) again this morning, which makes 3 times this week. hopefully next week i'll start finding it easier.

Hogiabach · 01/11/2009 21:23

I haven't been able to run until today for 2 weeks - I injured my back 2 weeks ago and have been almost immobile - managed to go to the GP on Tuesday and he gave me strong painkillers and diazepam to relax all the the muscles that had gone into spasm. It took 'till today to feel able to go out for a run. Went to the local woods and it poured, I lost the dog and looked for her for ages, was soaked - gave up, went home and the dog was sitting, shivering outside the front door. Clearly had enough of the run!

Glad to be out and about again though {smile] I've avoided the thread so glad to be back....

peachsmuggler · 01/11/2009 21:47

oh, oh I am the same age as y'all. Not you popsy since you are 40. Sorry, just teasing , you are pretty much the exact same age as me.

I would like to add

Can U Dig It - Mock Turtles
Song 2 - Blur (good for intervals, start running really fast at the woo hoo bits)
Run (yayyy) - New Order
A Life Less Ordinary - Ash
Animal Nitrate - Suede

Still got sore back here, though not as bad as yours Hog by the sounds of it, and dreaming of being able to walk properly, never mind run.

Currently turning to L-A-R-D (Vic Reeves ref for us mid-thirties ladies!)

19fran76 · 01/11/2009 21:49

Hello you splendid runners

Haven't posted here for a while as all regular running seemed to implode for a while (change in working hours /minor ailments bugging me/partner griping/bloomin' etc...)

I hereby pledge my allegiance to getting out the door & taking in the autumn air.

Meantimes, I shall cast a leisurely eye over the entire thread to read tales from the dedicated.

sfxmum · 02/11/2009 10:25

hello all

liking the play lists but I also like listening to new music mostly indie stuff hence the indie soup runner

am certainly 40 actually very close to 41 now gulp> somehow so much harder than turning 40 but I digress

managed to go out over the weekend and hope to do so again at least twice during the week

hope everyone is well

Hi all

Can all you seasoned runners give me any advice please?

I want to be able to run but just seem to get out of breath really quickly. Now, I consider myself reasonably fit - I do Boxercise three times a week but when it comes to running I feel about 100 yrs old!!

My trainer has told me to run REALLY, REALLY slowly to start, almost running on the spot - I guess this is the key but I feel a bit of an idiot!

Have ran/walked along the prom this morning for about 20 mins and did better than my last effort a few months ago.

Any hints and tips please?

Thanks.

popsycal · 02/11/2009 10:33
