I was waiting for someone else to start it but had to take the plunge to tell you i just did my w5r3. I managed it but am hurting. Started off too quick and was wrecked 5 mins in but slowed it down - kept going and got to about 14 mins in when my ankles started really hurting - i kept on going anyway and was v relieved when raaawb said that was it - i then proceeed to hobble home - the bath is filling as i type and my ankles are painful but still that i did it.

oh jack i feel for you ! i keep seeing my bras and thinking hope im not in an accident today! slightly flat footed yes, he suggested a podiatrist and im seein if that can be funded by work too .....

JackBauer · 11/06/2009 13:39

(I apologise in advance for language)

I ran for 8 minutes today! 8 minutes!!
8 FUCKING MINUTES!!!

Without stopping!!

And then, as I had tried out a new route I realised I was ages away from home, and DH had to leave for work shortly, so after a few minutes walk to cool down, I then ran the rest of the way home, which was another 3 minutes!

(I know I shoulnd't have, but I couldn't walk, it would have taken hours!)

I rule!!!!

JackBauer · 11/06/2009 13:41

Oh sorry, I meant to say

8 minutes! TWICE!

And then when I got home I took off my superduper imported from USA sports bra to discover that it has cut a hole in my nork and they are bleeding. But I don't care!

NorkyButNice · 11/06/2009 14:24

Would you look at this - you skive off for a week and come back and people have taken off running marathons and all sorts

Seriously though - well done to everyone who's making progress, especially JackBauer and your 8 minute runs - I remember feeling like it was a serious achievement managing that run (almost like you're a proper runner!).

Due to extreme laziness and having the in-laws to stay, I managed to avoid going for a run for a whole week so was convinced that I was going to have lost all my abilities in that time - when it came to it I could only manage 23 minutes before I had to come to a gasping wheezing halt (was up to 27 a week ago).

Sorry to hear about your injury Nappy - good luck with your Walk for life (I would stick to walking and focus on getting yourself better!).

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 11/06/2009 17:41

My ankle doesnt hurt at all today even if i poke it - it is like the hunky physio has soem magic gift I have also been wearign my new birkies today so perhaps they have magic abilities too. Its sunny and raining right now - perfect running weather. It still looks a bit swollen so i am in a mood like a caged animal and doing as i am told.....

Well doen Jackbauer but ouch at your titty! I was going to get one of those shockabsorber bra thingys - are they worth it?

OP posts:
JackBauer · 11/06/2009 19:30

God no, the shock absorber was shit. That made my shoulders bleed within 5 minutes as there is a seam right on top of the shoulder strap that rubs as your boobs leap move up and down.
This one does up at the front and has hooks and then a zip. I think one of the hooks is running but it is easily solved with a plaster. At least I can't feel it whereas the shoulder thing made me cry.
(mind you I am an F cup....this might make a difference)

I've got the Shock Absorber in an e cup and it's great - sound like yours wasn't tight enough if they were still moving JackBauer!

JackBauer · 11/06/2009 20:37

It was as tight as it woudl go, and was the 'heavy duty' version. I just have 'man' shoulders and the seam is right on the wrong place. My mum had the same problem.
I mean, who puts a frigging seam on the top of the shoulder bit anyway

well done jackbauer, i really think that eight minutes is SUCH a breakthrough time. i'm up to 12/14 minutes now, but i still cannot picture how i'm goinig to keep goiing for 30 mins and run 3m. i'm doing less than two miles in about 26 mins...

oh, and SIT DOWN nappy.

JackBauer · 11/06/2009 21:15

Well I managed .61 and .73 miles in each 8 minutes. So not exactly speedy today!

It really is such a big jump it is a big step, but am so chuffed!

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 11/06/2009 21:17

I did 2.0399 miles today

It was in 22 minutes.

I also have small breasts (B/C cup). Have been running in normal bra. Have wondered about a sports one

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 11/06/2009 21:27

I have a tesco sports one and its ok but i like the look of those with the muscle back design.

OP posts:
JackBauer · 11/06/2009 21:33

I physically cannot run without a sports bra, they just bounce everywhere, small children run screaming, builders fall off scaffolding etc etc
not at all. Honest.

(and stay sitting nappy)

canella · 12/06/2009 12:17

oh i'm in sympathy with all of you and your poorly norks - mine are bad too!!! but i realised if i wore a supportive normal bra and then the sports bra over the top that i could stop the jiggling!!! feels a bit tight but thats good if it stops my norks moving!!!

and well done jack - i'll be on 8 mins soon!!! well once i get past 5 mins next week!!

glad your sitting down nappy!!

im off tonight for my last w3 run - who'd have thought it!!! i'd have given up long before now!!

canella · 12/06/2009 20:33

evening everyone!! did w3r3 this eve on a bit of a different route that must have been a wee bit uphill for the whole of the first 3 mins run - i was f**ked at the end of it - nearly didnt make it!! i'm so shit with hills!!

but turned round halfway and it was way better the other way!!

bring on w4!! (after 2 lovely days of rest!!!)

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 12/06/2009 20:48

excellent! my dh laughs at me and declares there are no hills round our way - i tell ya they are feckin mountains!!!!

OP posts:
JackBauer · 12/06/2009 22:19

Well done canella, I found by wk4 that I was actualyl starting to look forward to it. Very weird!

JackBauer · 13/06/2009 19:28

I do feel a bit like I am monopolising the thread...but...
I ran 2 miels today!

TOok about 23-24 minutes, not sure how long as I was so wrecked by the end I forgot to check. I planned it out on Google earth, and unfortunately it didn't show me a massive fecking hill halfway, which i only got up by panting 'It's downhill on the way back...it's downhill on the way home'!

But I did it!
5 weeks into coach potato, I was a size 22 and am now a 20. I got out of breath walking to DD1 school (3 minutes uphill) and can do it easy while chatting to her, and I can run for 2 miles!

So anyone lurking thinking 'I can't do this', trust me, you can!

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 13/06/2009 19:34

Monopolise away you doing marvellous! I have my race for life tomorrow - i am going to gently jog the soft bits. I am right excited about it actually!

OP posts:
HuffwardlyRudge · 13/06/2009 19:41

I have been a bit slack recently and ran a bloody hard 20 minutes tonight. It was brilliant. Very proud of myself.

JackBauer · 13/06/2009 19:51

OOh nappy, good luck! Have fun!

And well done Huff, you are on wk5 as well, aren't you? It is such a massive change this week I am really starting to realise what I am managing to achieve IYSWIM!

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 13/06/2009 21:04

I am all ready cut my toenails, shaved my legs, selected running crops , having a tee shirt crisis though, cut a new support bandage and going to bed v soon after i have some new tunes on my mp3 player.

OP posts:
AitchTwoOh · 13/06/2009 21:31

good luck, nappy. don't push too hard, you'll regret it later.

and bloody well done jack and huff.

i'm supposed to run 2 miles tomorrow but i run so slowly i think it'll be my longest run ever, iykwim? like, i've run for 14 mins before and 12 mins with a two min break, but nothing continuous. i'm not really looking forward to it, i don't think i can do it tbh.
