I was waiting for someone else to start it but had to take the plunge to tell you i just did my w5r3. I managed it but am hurting. Started off too quick and was wrecked 5 mins in but slowed it down - kept going and got to about 14 mins in when my ankles started really hurting - i kept on going anyway and was v relieved when raaawb said that was it - i then proceeed to hobble home - the bath is filling as i type and my ankles are painful but still that i did it.

I went and got myself an Ipod yesterday, easily downloaded Raaaawbert and did my first run this morning with him in my ears. Was great not to have to keep looking at my watch. Bloody terrible tight pain in my chest all the way round though.

canella · 17/06/2009 08:26

morning!! grumpy canella here!!! toe is still fecking sore so no running this morning - cant believe how annoyed i am about not getting to run!!! i must be hooked!!

dh managed to kind of pop my toe back in yesterday evening but its not right and it had been out for over a day so its still sore to walk on! Not happy!!

so i'm motivating you all from the comfort of the couch today!! well done tryingtocook - rawb certainly makes it easier to time it!! i quite enjoyed the music for the first few weeks but w4 music was awful!!! not that i'll be hearing it for the next few days

Vulgar · 17/06/2009 09:00

Aitch -i am going through a terrible low spot at the moment. Runs are really hard. I'm not sure if I've got a small bug as I feel a bit rough or the heat is slowing me down. Whatever it is, I can't face it today so I'm off out tomorrow.

On monday i did 22 mins with a couple of very short walking breaks. It's crap when you are not seeing any improvement.

Well done Nappy and Debbie in your races. You deserve a big pat on the back.

Canella - the toe thing sounds horrid. I hope you get it put back into place soon. blee!

canella · 17/06/2009 11:09

toe update - its back in!!! whoo hoo!!! (or thank f*ck for that we all say)

went to the shops to look for a top - thought hobbling might just nudge it back in and it did!!! (thats how it went back in the last time!!)

so hopefully back on w4r2 tom!!

vulgar - no point going out if you're really not in the mood - try tomorrow!

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 17/06/2009 11:09

Canella outch for your toe still - i totally sympathise with your black mood - i have been grumpy too - its jus a blip though - just a blip

I am consoling myself by buying t shirts to run in when im up for it again - sad i know!

Canella - shopping is obviously good therapy for you

I"ve realised in my last post, I sounded like I was really depressed, well, I'm not. It's my body that doesn't want to run not my mind. And it's driving me crazy!

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 17/06/2009 19:40

Hooray for returned toe.

I am going to try and run 3 miles tomorrow. I hope I survive (or at least don't have to walk too much).

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 18/06/2009 10:23

I just ran for 3.1513 miles without stopping. I am impressed with myself .

Did it in 35 min I think (wasn't looking too carefully at my watch) so that was 11.06 min/mile

canella · 18/06/2009 11:54

well done rita!!! i cant imagine doing that yet!!!

did w4r2 this morning - had to make sure i didnt run out of route so did the walk bits a bit slower!!! not sure what i'm going to do when it comes to running for 20 + mins!! will habe to find a new route!

sassy · 18/06/2009 14:08

Did my R4L on Sunday. Unfortunately my friend got really bad cramp in her feet so we had to walk a lot of it but still did it in about 42mins. Not too bad.We are already aiming for 35 mins next year!

Been running this morning - did 2.4mi in 27 minutes. Had to walk 3 times for a total of about 400yards altogether. Great really considering that the 1st time I ran was about 6wks ago and I did about 1mi and walked loads.

AitchTwoOh · 18/06/2009 14:10

well done rita.
funny you say that about the heat, vulgar, i ran fine today 15run/3walk/17run and it was cooler with a nice wee bit of rain. i hope you're feeling more chipper soon.

JackBauer · 18/06/2009 14:20

Well done all! Just went running in the rain, got all confused and should have done wk6r2, but ended up doing 5 mins, 11 mins and 5 mins.

Bit concerned though as after my last run I was walking and I started getting a stabbing pain under my left collarbone that spread up my neck and along to my shoulder.
Am home now and DH is here, my pulse is ok, but my neck and colarbone still ache, like I have pulled a muscle. Weird (and a bit scary!)
Any thoughts?

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 18/06/2009 14:21

I WANT TO BREAK FREE

Grrrrrr i have no pain at all, i can walk fine, i have ran after children today.... can i go running please Canella? or shuld i wait for Wed physio to say i can. I feel like a caged animal

I am plottign routes on gmaps in anticipation.

Well done rita !!! is that 5k then?

JackBauer · 18/06/2009 14:42

You did run the r4l didn't you?

I would say (and bear in mind I am not a professional and am not taking responsibility should you legs fall off or something) that you know your body better than a physio you have met once/twice.
Maybe just go for a short 5min jog and see how that goes?

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 18/06/2009 14:48

Yes i am thinking 2 ten min jobbies with 5 in between. Yes did rfl - am a runnign addict now

ooo ouch Jack - no idea about your shoulder - are you relaxed when running or all tense - i get occasinal neck pain when running as im tensed up then shake like a dog and feel ok again.

OP posts:
LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 18/06/2009 17:50

It was 5km (maybe a tiny bit more!)

Won't be able to run much in the next week as have LOTS of marking to do.

canella · 18/06/2009 20:04

oh nappy the pressure is on me to say go on run!! but i think with my professional head on that you could go for brisk walks until you next see the physio on weds! sorry!!

but i doubt any physio would have let me run today after my toe had been dislocated for 2 days - its a hard un!!!

sorry i didnt say what you wanted to hear but if you go running i'll not flounce off the thread !haha!!!!!

canella · 18/06/2009 20:06

jack - how's your shoulder now? is it sore when you move or when you touch it? if it was from your heart it wouldnt change with moving your shoulder?

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 18/06/2009 20:07

it is honking down here so no going out - dh has gone out now so no chance. Going to bike to school instead the next few days.

You ran after that toe trauma!!! reckless fool

OP posts:
JackBauer · 19/06/2009 08:40

Shoulder a bit better today, just feel slike I pulled a muscle in it. My sister apparently get shte same thing, it is from your diaphragm being weird or soemthing, adn I was havig trouble catching my breath so that might have contributed.
Bloody scary though!

canella · 19/06/2009 09:09

glad you feel better jack - was worried about you!! but i'm better with hearts than joints and bones etc!! i worked with people after heart attacks and heart surgery before we moved from the UK so you can trust me with advice about chest pain etc! but glad it feels better!

been out for w4r3 this morning - thats the first time i've done runs on sucessive days - legs felt heavy this morn!

but bring on w5 next week - dreading w5r3 already - how will i run for 20 mins without stopping!!!!

Superduperloopthelooper · 19/06/2009 11:10

Hello all

I have been following your progress but I have only just completed w2r3 today, so I am a bit behind (can't imagine running more than 90 secs at the moment, am in awe!).

I am running/jogging using my old battered tennis shoes...this is bad, isn't it??! I have be looking into buying some decent-ish running shoes but there are so many, what do you all wear/recommend? I am hoping to keep this up so it would be an investment but I am also quite poor so am probably looking at the cheaper end of the scale .

Thanks!

JackBauer · 19/06/2009 11:27

' how will i run for 20 mins without stopping!!!!'
Very slowly

Superduper - We all started a different times so don't feel like you are 'behind'
I quite liked that others had done the next week and survived, made me feel a bit mroe confident that I wasn't going to keel over.

I got my shoes from a specialist shop called Up and Running. They have them all over the uk but there are other shops too. It has made sucha difference in how well I can run, but they were £85 (my mum bought them as a present)
