Anyone doing it?

Either London or Edinburgh?

Anyone interested in a fitness / support thread?

I'm doing it for the 3rd time in May (missed last year, as it was the night DS was born!) and really looking forward to it, but feeling a bit more apprehensive, as I'm not as fit as I used to be!

hope you all had good weekends ladies, I did 17 miles (by mistake!!!) and that is a whole different league, I was fit for nothing else Saturday but no aches on Sunday so that was good

hello - how's everyone doing? Well done on your 17 miler, wifey.

Having a quiet couple of weeks training wise as dh is away this week, and then we're on hols next week - hoping to still fit in a few 4 milers, but won't do anything substaintial.

wiffey · 31/03/2009 13:44

Hi funny, nice to see someone back again. it's been a quite week here as well so need to get a big one on before off for a week of the easter hols (camping, how daft is that)

Starting to get ideas for decorating now etc, doesn't seem very far away at all

arfur · 31/03/2009 16:56

Hi, my friend and I did 13 miles on sunday and it was not pleasant - we are both feeling demotivated and cant imagine doing double that! It took us four hours too which is too slow - if we finish in 8 hours will we still get a medal or will everyone have gone home by then?

wiffey · 31/03/2009 17:25

Hi arfur, you'll be fine I'm sure. I felt like that after I first did 10, I thought I was going to die quite literally
Did you take a snack and drink with you as that makes a huge difference.
As for the time I think 7-8 hours is the expected for the majority it's what our group are expecting to so it in so we'll be bringin up the rear with you !!!

bigTillyMint · 31/03/2009 19:06

I'm sure there will be loads of people slower than that - when we applied weren't there loads of categories for your estimated time taken - I'm sure they went longer than even 10 hours. I hope they did - I don't want to be last

wiffey · 01/04/2009 11:23

If any of you are Facebook users they have quite a good group on there as well with some handy hints & tips for first timers - Playtex moonwalk London 2009.

marg1066 · 02/04/2009 18:25

Hi everyone, you all seem to be doing do well. Unfortunately I've been in hospital with depression for last 2 weeks, they have an exercise machine I use but stuck for anything else. I emailed moonwalk for some advice but not heard anything yet, I'm just home for a few hours then back in, you all keep up the good work, take care everyone xx

bigTillyMint · 03/04/2009 09:58

Oh poor you, Marg

You can't go out for a walk around the hospital groupnds or near area at all, can you?

marg1066 · 03/04/2009 18:48

Thanks Tillymint, its all main roads at the hospital but Im home for the weekend so see what I can get done, thanks again

kiwibella · 09/04/2009 23:49

I have my father staying with me and have slacked big time. I feel the need to get my legs moving so need to start putting in some serious effort .

BTM... I think the last category was more than 8 hours - that's what I chose. My ambitious partner chose something stupid less than that. I hope that we will be starting together. I have in my mind that they do have to pack everything away so hope that we will finish before then .

Thanks for the facebook group wiffey.

Hope you are doing ok and your health is improving Marg. Take care x x

marg1066 · 13/04/2009 18:24

I`ve moved hospital and will be able to do some training, thanks for asking. It also depends on how the illness effects me, getting quite frustrated about it, even bought new trainers but my health has got to come first not just for me but also them around me

abcmum · 14/04/2009 08:17

Hi everyone,

Sorry about your depression Marg - hope u feel better soon x. Haribosmum - snap!! OMG, I got a BFP yesterday - crapping as I haven't told OH yet - we are both doing the Edinburgh Full. I'll be 14 weeks and did it last year. I don't know what to do - just googled walking marathons while pregs and a few sites say OK under 20 weeks as long as you stop if dizzy, breathless, pain etc but another says absolutely not! I'm like you - I might start and only do half - will lose out on medal, but won't let sponsers down and my walking buddy husband who is still to find out about additon no 4!! Oh my word, what an oops!!

We did our 14 - last Saturday - missed our 10 this weekend as had people her for Easter, my 14 yr olds birthday!! but we are doing 5, 4 and 3 in the week and 16 on Saturday so will see how I get on. As far as telling OH is concerned - omg!! I don't know how

arfur · 23/04/2009 18:45

So got the final info with route etc today and am now seriously bricking it - its so so far gulp! Am also a bit worried about my bra as it gives me a hefty cleavage which I feel a bit embarrassed about (am 34F so dont need help with looking bigger) do you think I should wear ordinary sports bra instead?

arfur · 23/04/2009 18:47

Also was wondering if we should have a secret mumsnet sign about our person somewhere so we know who we are?

morethanyoubargainfor · 30/04/2009 15:52

Hi Arfur, i am going to buy an ordinary bra as i am a 36G and my bra just about covers nipples!

Anyway, how is it all going ladies? Not long to go now.

funnypeculiar · 05/05/2009 09:50

Hello everyone - has been a bit quiet on here! Hope you're doing OK marg?

I'm not wearing the bra they sent either - I'm a 32C, so I don't mind the fit, but I tried wearing it for a 12 mile walk and it was really uncomfy - I got loads of rub-marks for weeks after! I was really surprised to get such a 'fashion' bra - was expecting something more sensible!

I just want to get on with the walk now - only 11 sleeps to go!

arfur · 05/05/2009 15:57

I am now definitely wearing a normal t-shirt bra as I wore it on Sun for the big 20 miler and it was fine no rubbing or anything - just need to decorate it now!. Anyone else do 20 at the weekend? It took us 6.75 hours which I know isnt fab but am just pleased we made it to be honest - and am feeling more confident that we can do the full 26.2 on the night! Big toes are very sore tho flip flops for me this week regardless of the weather!

bigTillyMint · 05/05/2009 18:30

Oh dear, I'm getting worried that the bra will rub now, having spent hours decorating it!

Well done with your 20 miler arfur! We have done ours too, so I feel much more confident that I will make the 26 miles in one piece!

Are you all resting up now, or cracking on with lots of walking?

morethanyoubargainfor · 05/05/2009 19:02

i am doing shorter walks now, about 8 miles a time. I can't just stop walking! it goes with my job.

bigTillyMint · 05/05/2009 19:35

I've started feeling strange (guilty?) when I haven't been out for a walk for a day or two. I think I'm going to have withdrawl symptoms when it's over

funnypeculiar · 05/05/2009 22:30

LOL, I feel like that too Tilly - I had a whole 5 days off over the bank holiday & felt like a complete slob!

mrspnut · 11/05/2009 08:45

Hope you're all in good spirits and ready for saturday.

I've had my volunteer details through and I will be helping in the main tent and surrounding areas giving directions and so on. Last year I was out at mile 16 and whilst it was uplifting it was also blooming cold.

kiwibella · 11/05/2009 22:34

hi all... not long now .

The bras they sent are awful. I was surprised by the style too - the lace rubs badly. Mine is a terrible fit too. I'm going to wear a sports bra.

Good job on all the walking!! My dd asked if I will continue afterwards . I haven't been able to walk frequently with my dad here (he's disabled) so I haven't done the long distances but hoping that being active and looking forward to the atmosphere of the night will see us around the course.

Any suggestions for a code to spot you all amongst the 15,000 peeps???
