Anyone doing it?

Either London or Edinburgh?

Anyone interested in a fitness / support thread?

I'm doing it for the 3rd time in May (missed last year, as it was the night DS was born!) and really looking forward to it, but feeling a bit more apprehensive, as I'm not as fit as I used to be!

Welcome & congratulations haribo!

wifey - I did find that I got very tired when I first really started moonwalk training. I tried Berocca, which a mate had raved about & it did seem to help...not something to use for too long but good for a boost, ime.

So, we've got an 18 miler planned for this weekend - what's everyone else up to?

morethanyoubargainfor · 12/03/2009 10:13

i cant do 18 miles this weekend as i have a 3 legged dog boarding with us and he can't go that far! but am about to take them out on a 7 miler in an hour, and maybe 5 tommorrow and then might push dogs up to 10 mile son saturday. my dog misses his longer walks!

bigTillyMint · 12/03/2009 12:49

We are doing 14 miles again on the weekend. Hope you mean that you're going out in an hour, not doing 7 miles in one hour

bigTillyMint · 12/03/2009 12:52

OOps

just realised that it was Haribo who posted that she was going to be 6 months pregnant, so only one pregnancy announcement.

Wipes brow in relief

marg1066 · 12/03/2009 13:01

Congrats Haribo! I thought I read somewhere that taking a multivitaminn is ok to take, Ill try and find where it was ( brain like s seive)Im, supposed to be out doing a 3 mile, but just feel so tired, need to gee myself up

wiffey · 12/03/2009 13:03

LOL haribo, deff not that I can assure you. Spoke to GP today & will try to sort one out next week.

morethanyoubargainfor · 12/03/2009 13:27

BTM, i think that 7 miles in ahour is overly ambitious! so i mean't doing it in one hours time LOL. didn't manage the full 7 as had DH with me (fit he is not!) who felt unwell so had to come back after about 4 but hey theres always tommorrow

Haribosmummy · 12/03/2009 14:44

Yes, I think it's just me who has decided to increase the challenge by being 6 months PG!! haha!

I think 7 miles is REALLY going for it!!!

I'm planning a 12 this weekend if energy levels are up to it

Is it starting to seem really close now or am I panicking unduly ???

bigTillyMint · 14/03/2009 15:58

We did a 14 miler today, a bit faster than last week and my legs aren't stiff this time

FP, how did your 18 miler go?

wiffey · 14/03/2009 16:10

Well done BTM, my 12.5 was good, lots of hills & 3hr20 and I didn't feel like I was going to die towards the end,in fact could have done more

For the first time since I've started the training I actually felt that I might be able to do it !!!

Legs are a bit stiff now but I did all my housework when I got back

Hope everyones training is going well

morethanyoubargainfor · 14/03/2009 18:20

Most people do just wear their bra, except the really serious walkers.

On the night, you sort of get swept up in the drama of it all. It's an atmosphere like no other.

I'm planning on a short 6 miler this week and some general walking as well to get myself back into it and then have a go at getting nearer to the 10 mile mark before increasing my speed again.

wiffey · 17/03/2009 10:44

Deffinatley go for the bra, looking forward to the girls night in decorating it

bigTillyMint · 17/03/2009 12:37

When do you reckon the bra will arrive?

And have you all set up your internet "giving" pages, or are you just using the paper copies?

wiffey · 17/03/2009 13:17

I'm not sure I will use the bra they send as will need to wear a good sports bra if you get my drift

We set our page up through just giving as it looked the easier of the two to use, we've had one girl drop out but upto £600 between 5 of us so quite good.

funnypeculiar · 17/03/2009 13:56

hello all - just checking in for a victory dance after doing 18.45 miles on Sunday!
It was ..... ok - defn a 'step up' from my walks so far - I have to admit, I was quite ready to stop!
We managed it in 4 1/2 hours, so kept to an average of 4 mph, and although I did feel a bit sleepy for the rest of the day, no real aches or pains, which is a bloody miracle!
I've just sent round my justgiving page - after doing 18 miles, I somehow felt I couldn't chicken out any longer

I haven't really thought about the bra situation yet - how is everyone planning to decorate?

wiffey · 17/03/2009 14:21

Well our team name had "showgirls" in it so full out Moulin Rouge feathers for me

bigTillyMint · 18/03/2009 08:58

FP I am soooo impressed - over 18 miles Well Done!

I won't be needing a sport's bra, Wiffey , and I will be decorating mine with something big and fluffy And maybe a "fringe"

I hope you can use the sites letuseatcake as I picked it up from the moonwalk website, it was one of the two recommended ?? Maybe these are the only two they recognise.

I'm aiming for 15 this weekend sounds as though we are all getting there tough.

funnypeculiar · 20/03/2009 10:51

I am using the justgiving site - from the link on the moonwalk site - weird that they don't approve of it (whoops...)

morethanyoubargainfor · 20/03/2009 12:04

I am also using the just giving site, as they had a link on thier web page.
