giddykipper · 01/01/2009 09:08

I WILL NOT nesh out again like I did last time.

DP has even bought me an iPod Shuffle to run with so that I don't have to lug my big iPod around (oh the inconvenience).

this is what I'm talking about and here's the podcasts I run to.

I'm not starting today though, got about 3 hours sleep last night.

Hi everyone

Thanks so much for the good wishes everyone it's really kind of you. I'm coping a bit better now, will be glad when the funeral is over next week. Running wise I've done week 3 all week and was starting to find it difficult getting lots of 'I can't do this' feelings althugh my first w3 run went well. Milleniwm I'm glad you posted that last message as I was starting to worry how I'd manage w4 next week and the 5 min runs although I have found less repetitions with longer runs better to cope with than lots of short ones.

Lexcat Glad to see you back hope all is going well so far

Anyway big challenge now to keep up the momentum now Easter hols have started as I can't go when kids are in school. May set my alarm quite early and see how I go.

MissAnthrope · 04/04/2009 23:10

I have to post to admit that I've missed all my runs this week as dd has been ill.

Am hoping that she will be feeling better tomorrow so that I can get out with her before lunch.

Well done to all of those still running, it's very inspiring to hear

giraffescantdancethetango · 05/04/2009 09:59

Hiya dont think Ive introduced myself on this thread, Im training for a 10k in September - and I am starting from very very begining so am slightly more at home hear than the runners thread - I can't manage a fraction of what they can! I think I am either going to run for SANDS or Bliss and thats my driving force.

Just back from a jog/walk session this morning - went to a beautiful local park its lovely sunshine here and I ran round the boating pond and it was lovely.

MissA hope your daughter is better soon.

TrillianEAstraEgg · 05/04/2009 11:47

Dammit, want to go run but ipod is dying some kind of death. Connected to computer and was fine but took it offand it's nw empty.

Charging up DP's ipod with some Rawbert and some electricity ready for W5R1.

Madwelshwoman - W4 is a big step up, no doubt about it. I did R1 and R2 and then thought 'I can't do this', went back and did a W3 run and found it quite easy after trying to do the W4s, so then started W4 again.

W5R1 doesn't look too much harder than W4, so hopefully it will go okay (once I have this stupid technology stuff sorted).

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 05/04/2009 11:54

Trillian, just wanted to say W5r1 is nothing like going from wk3 to wk4, if you have cracked wk4 and finding it doable then you will be fine for W5. Enjoy

Sorry just saw trillians last post will catch up with everyone tomorrow, I haven't run since wednesday because of blasted cold.

TrillianEAstraEgg · 05/04/2009 12:33

Yep, you're right Libra, W5R1 is eeeasy . I think I took it too easy actually, just calculated my middle 5 minute run and I did 0.44 miles, that's 11 mins 20secs per mile. Very slow.

There is definitely a sense of achievement once you crack week4, for a while I thought I just would never be able to do 5 minutes.

goblinvalley · 05/04/2009 13:45

I am in awe - you are my inspiration for carrying on

Went out today for w3r2, didn't really want to, but finished it. Today i don't think i was really that 'into' it - the podcast music nearly drove me nuts !

Anyway i shall try and look forward to tuesday. I've signed up for Race for Life, so i have a goal to work to.

Hope everyone is well.

Chinwag, how's it going - have you been out this week?

TrillianEAstraEgg · 05/04/2009 13:53

Well done for finishing even though you didn't want to goblinvalley, I think that's what distinguishes us from the serious runners thread.

Not enjoying the music? Just wait for week4. ould anyone else not get that blasted 'operator' song out of their head? No idea what the singer was on about either.

giraffescantdancethetango · 05/04/2009 18:42

goblin when is your race for life?

I realised I was talking to myself when I was running this morning I was saying "ok now when you get to that tree stump you will run until the clock....ready...go" Luckily I don't think anyone noticed!

TrillianEAstraEgg · 05/04/2009 18:54

Ready... go!

Did you instrcut yourself to think about your quorn?

goblinvalley · 05/04/2009 20:14

giraffe - it's on the 28th June......11 wks arghhhhhh!

I've promised myself that i won't be the last crossing the finish. I may not run all the way, but i'm gonna get there !

Scared myself silly this morning by measuring the 5km It seems an awfully long way to my diddly 3m runs

giraffescantdancethetango · 05/04/2009 20:24

I did a 5k a good few years ago now and walked lots of it and was no where near last...so don't panic, just do as much as you can.

Trillian I havent even been listening to the podcasts...it must have seeped in to my head from reading this thread. Quorn no....a huge bar of dairy milk yes!!

giraffesCantRunA10k · 05/04/2009 22:10

All signed up and paid - no going back. heres my new name.

goblincandoa5k · 06/04/2009 08:22

Woo hoo giraffe !

i've changed my name too

TrillianEAstraEgg · 06/04/2009 08:52

I like goblin's name better, it's a bit more positive you know?

How about GiraffesCantRuna10kButICan?

I don't know what Rawbert is on about with the Quron - he hasn't mentioned it recently so maybe he knows we are all laughing at him.

goblincandoa5k · 06/04/2009 09:22

Go on Giraffe - you can do a 10k.

If me and my norks are pounding the street - you can run this easily

TrillianEAstraEgg · 06/04/2009 09:35

My norks aren't pounding anything, they're too small.

Have you this?

goblincandoa5k · 06/04/2009 09:52

Yes, i have a very strong one (38G)

The drivers on my route don't seem as happy now though , but my norks are thanking me.

When are you running again Trillian?

TrillianEAstraEgg · 06/04/2009 09:55

I meant have you seen the bounce-ometer - it's scary!

I ran yesterday so running again tomorrow morning before the Tesco van turns up (in theory). W5R2 is 2 x 8 minutes! 8!

Now off to scare myself silly by measuring 5k on my route.

goblincandoa5k · 06/04/2009 10:01

Yup, that bounce-ometer fascinated my dh

Enjoy the measuring

giraffesCantRunA10k · 06/04/2009 11:45

I shall change my name to a more positive one - positive thinking and all!! I have decided to run for Tommys - have emailed them waiting for confirmation that I can run for them, other wise will be SANDS. Was going to go to the gym this morning but I couldn be arsed, will go after work.

trillian good luck for 8 minutes!

goblin like the new name

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 06/04/2009 14:46

afternoon all. I just did wk6r1, after last weeks 5K I am using the interval sessions now to up my pace a bit, so the first 2 intervals (5 and8) were done a slightly quicker pace than last week (couldn't talk at all!) and then the last 5 minutes I alternated between jogging and running between lamp-posts.

Love the new name changes PMA! (sorry that isn't a new wonder running drug it stands for positive mental attitude!)

trillian, have a good run tomorrow. I have started tuning out the music and only listening for the "ready". fartlek is interval training you go certain distance/time one speed and then change time/distance and go another pace. It's VERY good for your fitness.

missA - hope your daughter is better. Did yoy managed to get out on Sunday?

madwelshwoman - you CAN do this. don't worry about next week just concentrate on the week you are on and remember you can repeat if necessary.

mileniwmffalcon - are you still doing a 5minute warm-up walk before doing the 30minute run, I find the warm up very important for preparing both mind and body (how poncey does that sound!)

batgirl - your teenagers will be fine! early morning is a great time to exercise and will set you up for the day.

MissAnthrope · 06/04/2009 23:34

Hello to all

W3 R1 was completed on Sunday. 3 mintues wasn't too hard but was by no means easy. The thought of running for 5 minutes next week (or even 25 by the end of the programme) seems ridiculous.

I'm due to go out for W3 R2 tomorrow but dd is still unwell so it'll depend on whether I can coax her out of the house or not.

Giraffes - love the new name.

Goblin - great new name too. 11 weeks is plenty of time to prepare. Mine is six weeks away and I'm terrified!!

Trillian - that bounce-o-meter may have scarred me for life. Looks like I should go out and buy a better bra or risk two black eyes Good luck for tomorrows run.

Libra - it sounds like you're doing brilliantly. I hope one day to be able to do some sort of interval/hill type training to help with stamina without keeling over

MissAnthrope · 06/04/2009 23:35

What is a mintue?

minutes

TrillianEAstraEgg · 07/04/2009 10:44

W5R2 done
W5R3 scaring the shit out of me

All is as expected.

Just realised that we're going to PILs for Easter and DP's little sister is also doing this programme now, so I might do a run with her (she's back on week3 I think). It's hilly round there though so I'll probably find that I can't keep up!
