Another thread to keep going!

9 mile canoe on a river - 3 of us. Paddled like fury. Really enjoyed it.
Squats, press ups and calf raises.
138.

BezMills · 25/07/2025 08:13

Amazing gnuing (that's what we called it back in the day), and you're keeping the thread going almost single-handedly @Alittlefrustrated

spikeandbuffy · 25/07/2025 09:46

I am tentatively back! It’s been a LONG time
was diagnosed with endometriosis and kept having huge flares, waited 2 years for surgery and then spent over 8hrs in theatre with an endo surgeon and a bowel surgeon so exercise went out the window

BezMills · 25/07/2025 11:31

OMG that sounds horrendous @spikeandbuffy

spikeandbuffy · 25/07/2025 11:44

BezMills · 25/07/2025 11:31

OMG that sounds horrendous @spikeandbuffy

It wasn’t the most fun! I had 6 incisions, the bowel surgeon operated for 3hrs and I was 8hrs 37 in theatre so a full day
returned back to work after 3 weeks and I’ve started some exercise now at 8 weeks
they took my appendix out as well because that was covered in endo

BezMills · 25/07/2025 11:48

Bladdy heck! It's great you're feeling well enough to train after all of that.

spikeandbuffy · 25/07/2025 13:03

I was discharged about 16hrs after, and doing laundry - few days later Blush they said I recover well!

my letter says
Adhesiolysis, mobilisation of sigmoid and rectum, bilateral ureterolysis, drainage of bilateral endometriomas, stripping of cysts walls, temporary suspension of ovaries, excision of endometriosis, restoration of anatomy, dye hydrotubation, mirena IUD insertion, appendix removal, estimated blood lost 400ml

Alittlefrustrated · 27/07/2025 21:08

Welcome back @spikeandbuffy onwards and upwards!
6.5 mile walk, squats.
139.

Alittlefrustrated · 28/07/2025 21:03

10.2 mile walk around a reservoir

Welcome back @spikeandbuffy You have been in the wars! Amazing you are feeling well enough to get back to exercise. Lovely to see you back ❤️

Wow frustrated! You are killing it! I am jealous of the woodland walks and canoeing, it sounds gorgeous.

Today was a wake up call for me. I tried looking back on the thread to see when I hurt my back lifting weights, but it was too far back to bother. While I have been walking with Leslie, I decided to do a mini band workout with Nat Hayward. I am shocked at how unconditioned I have become. I could barely do a push up on my knees and I actually fell on my arse standing back up from a wall squat hold. Embarrassed 😳. I had notice over the last few days how squishy I have become since stopping the weights/Pilates and just how quickly that has happened has shocked me. I really must try to do better for my health’s sake, I have been feeling tired all the time and for whatever reason this translates to me eating badly. I must admit I have been a little scared to pick the weights back up as it seemed whenever I increase the weights I injure myself. I just want to remain consistent without doing any damage.

Hoping you ladies will keep me in check. As frustrated has said below, “onwards and upwards”!

BezMills · 29/07/2025 09:35

@roonetta it is so frustrating how it gets harder to train and quicker to lose condition as we get older!

I'm sat outside a crossfit gym - it's lovely Anna Sensei's first class as a CF instructor and I've rocked up to support her.

I've had a rubbish 4 weeks since our lovely BodyCombat class finished. I think I'm over the funk a bit now, and ready to find a new thing. I don't expect it to be CF mainly because its a 30-40 minute drive plus all the fist bumps and eye contact can get in the bin.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 29/07/2025 11:20

Good to see you back Buffy. It sounds like you've been through the wars. When I had my hysterectomy earlier in the year they found extensive endo that I didn't know I had (well, I knew something was wrong for years, but was told it definitely wasn't endo). Luckily it was fairly contained so the consultant thinks she got it all. I hope you're onwards and upwards from here.

I'm going to feel like you tomorrow Roonetta! After being away for work, we came straight away on holidays for the last 2 weeks and my sports bra and runners have enjoyed their time in the suitcase. Between the heat and general exhaustion I decided to leave my exercise to mucking about in the pool with the kids and the 80 steps from pool to apartment (I was hoping my bum would look better by now, but alas...😂). We are travelling home this afternoon and I'm booked into s&c bright and early tomorrow so I'm posting now to make sure I get out of bed and back to it!

Sounds like the perfect holiday motherforkin 😊. Hope you enjoyed your first s&c class this morning.

Nat Hayward mini band workout done - I was very sore today ☑️

I have Crossfitted! Lovely Anna Sensei did marvelously well, it was her first class as a solo instructor (but she did have some help as one of the other coaches was there as an assistant). It was really good training and I loved that there were a real mix of abilities. Some people were way advanced (love to see it), and the skill ceiling is high high high - so much to learn and practice. As opposed to BodyCombat where I guess I was cruising a bit and was just enjoying the training and vibes and checking myself out in the mirror being a badass.

I have been trying to find inspiration or something to make me want to train (I paid for a month at the new gym but was basically too sad and/or busy to go). I was thinking of paying out to some online coach or sth like that, since I obviously need to bootstrap myself a bit out of this rut.

I've booked in for Anna's next class on Friday (she delighted), and I'll think about giving Cross Fit a proper go - like a 6 week challenge. I like the idea of paying someone local to meet my needs, and keep the pounds close to home.

Boxercise is going well, getting consistently 8ish on Mondays which just about pays the rent, and then 2 or so on Wednesday which isn't great but it's still early days yet - tonight will only be the fifth Wednesday class.

Alittlefrustrated · 30/07/2025 21:04

5.6 mile orienteering course (should if been 3 mile 🤣). Also been playing football with DS/DP.
Sounds like hard work BezMills!

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 31/07/2025 15:26

That's a lot going on Bez! Good luck with it your class. I get what you mean about CrossFit. I don't love it either. I'm a little worried that my gym will be going Hyrox. The owner has been really pushing the new lick of paint styling and they did a hyrox sim recently which he seems delighted with himself after. I can run badly on my own time, I just want a gym where the programme and instructors get me to lift progressively heavier things safely.

Your orienteering style sounds like mine frustrated 😆

Our flight was delayed and I didn't get to bed til 3.30am on Wednesday so I didn't go to my 9am class! I went this morning instead. I'm already sore.

Beautiful 7 mile walk along a river.
90 mins cricket with DS & DP - it's a lot of running when there's only 1 fielder! I'm 🥵 but delighted that I can now move a bit more spontaneously on my left leg, I've only had the slightest of niggles this week. 🤞

Alittlefrustrated · 03/08/2025 22:19

Brisk walk tonight - not measured but counting it

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 04/08/2025 11:26

That's great, frustrated, I hope it keeps improving.

I was at the gym on Saturday and then did 3 hours of weeding. I don't know which had me in agony, all over, yesterday but I couldn't get out for a planned run with ds. Today will be s&c again.

Nat Hayward killer mini band workout. Phew, felt a bit sick 🤢

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 05/08/2025 21:17

I was like that at the gym last night too Roonetta 😩 I blamed the heat! and not my additional holiday flab

Short run with ds this evening. We threw in too many sprints though. Two days in a row of exercise nearly killing me.

OP posts:
roonetta · 06/08/2025 08:08

Hahaha Motherforkin I also blame external forces and not the extra food I have consumed 😂😂😂. Ahh gone are the Covid days when I could exercise 5 or 6 days a week. Although I obviously wouldn’t want another pandemic, I did like all the free time that came with it.

Easier Nat Hayward mini band workout done. This one felt more like stretching.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 07/08/2025 21:31

In one of the covid years I tracked 300 days, Roonetta. I'm glad I'm not counting this year, it would be very dispiriting.

Anyway, S&C yesterday (where I was "encouraged" to make something called spider dsi ups harder. Did not like) and a short run with ds this evening. Made shorter as he met his friends playing football towards the end, so I was left to limp and wheeze the last bit without having to pretend dignity.

Had a very lazy week 😕Can't swim because I have a horrible scald on my arm plus just frankly haven't been arsed. Good news is I have a coastal meet up planned for tomorrow, and I made it to pilates today

BezMills · 08/08/2025 06:48

Cross Fit today.

Which will be : Barbell back squats, 1000m row, 50 thrusters (squat into overhead press) and then 30 pull ups. I'm not sure which bits are going to be more deaded - my quads, my glutes, my arms or my fingers. I'm definitely going to eat a banana before setting off, no way I can do that lot on empty.
