How to get a bigger bum

buma · 28/05/2024 09:45

I've got a tiny little bum. It's not flat but it is very small!

Is there actually a way to make it appear bigger without an absolute tonne of work? I'd like it bigger but equally I can't commit to working out constantly!!

I’m so sorry about your son. To get answers you need to start your own thread - https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/childrens_health might be a good place, or if you report your post MNHQ will help you move it to a new thread.

You say it’s not for men, but you have referred to having a large butt as ‘cuter, younger and sexier’ several times now.
You can sort of understand why people might think you are doing it for the male gaze.

Edited

Do women not want to look cuter and younger and sexier for themselves? Muscle mass is lost at an alarming rate after about the age of 40. Both for aesthetic reasons and for health and safety, many women work hard to maintain or build up their muscle mass.

Many women enjoy making themselves look good for themselves. Yes maybe on a biological level, everything we do is to appear attractive to the opposite sex but if it were just that, all of us menopausal women would just revert to wearing loose sacks and never wear makeup or do our hair.

greengreyblue · 02/06/2024 09:45

I think there is probably a correlation between porn and the doggy style position being easiest to film (🤮) leading to a focus on the arse. No one cared until they were being compared to porn stars!

greengreyblue · 02/06/2024 09:48

@size4feet I care about being strong in my 50s but not about the roundness of my backside in any other way than keeping my weight healthy and my strength maintained. If my bum gets very big it’s because I’ve put on weight which would lead me to keep that down to healthy bmi.

Again for those in the back, no one is talking about a 'very big' arse.
^
Fat arses is not what anyone is talking about 🤦🏻‍♀️^

I feel seen 😂

I don’t engage with style and beauty stuff. No make up, disastrous hair, comfy (frumpy) clothes. I do work out though a LOT. Not for a round bum but just because I like being strong and fit and doing what I can to mitigate against osteoarthritis which a lot of the women in my family have had.

I’m in the gym 3 mornings a week working at building up my muscle mass but it’s got nothing to do with wanting a cute (horrible word), young & sexy bum. It’s about wanting to stay strong & healthy.

Sit on it all day whilst working on a computer, and all evening while crocheting, watching TV or listening to audio books.

Worked for me!

🤣🤣
I had a small arse and then peri hit, it's now massive, thank you hormones or lack of them!

Sorry OP, growing your glute muscles (muscles people!!!!) takes a lot of graft. Squats, rdls, hip thrusts, lunges etc. done close to failure 2-3 times a week. Plus eating enough to send the signal for the muscle to grow. It’s very rewarding though, I encourage you to lift weights regularly anyway as it’s so good for you! Building muscle is one of the very best things you can do for your overall health. Strong glutes don’t just look good, they help with your body’s overall function, esp as you age.

Ps. The racism on this thread is pretty gross. Calling big bums “soft porn tropes” and “hideous”?! Many women with heritage other than white European naturally have bigger bums.

I'm mixed race (Black and white) and I wasn't offended. I know exactly what the PP meant. It isn't to do with women who have naturally large bottoms, it is the whole Kardashian thing. If anything, I find it more racist that big bottoms only became such a thing when Kim and her massive ass became a big star. Suddenly, everyone thought that was hot, despite the 00s being all about being as skinny as possible.

greengreyblue · 02/06/2024 11:12

Exactly . In the 90s it was Friends female cast and Posh Spice with their ultra thin frames and very small behind that were pushed as the look. I was in my 20s then and have always had a a big bum. I wasn’t fashionable and it made me feel bad. Now my bum would be considered a desirable shape but I still takes steps to disguise it because that was the line that was fed to us in the 90s. It’s ridiculous. Women’s shapes don’t change massively. What desirable shape for a man has changed to that extent?

DreadPirateRobots · 02/06/2024 21:44

Go down to a gym and you'll see women busting a gut working their quads and hamstrings and glutes to build a desirable butt for themselves.

🤔Believe me, when you see me down the gym busting a gut on squats and RDLs and hip bridges, building a desirable butt for myself is really not why.

Snap 3.

I’m working on getting as strong as fuck so I can keep active into my 80s.

This is why people want a bigger bum

greengreyblue · 07/06/2024 16:49

Well those are obviously two different people. Also different angles. The flat tummy after 1 month???

Edited

A) it's not a different person
B) yes the angles are not quite the same but if you can't see the vast difference and think it's down to the angle then we have different brains
C) her tummy is not unusual for someone 1 month pp. I was like that after my first 2. Not after my 3rd

greengreyblue · 07/06/2024 18:01

You’re very gullible.

DreadPirateRobots · 07/06/2024 18:01

Even if it's the same person, which frankly I doubt, so what? It demonstrates that muscle tone can be improved with exercise. No shit.

The whole point of the thread was wanting a bigger bum and several people said they couldn't understory anyone would want a bigger bum. This picture shows a bigger, vastly improved butt. Why is that so hard for you to understand? It was hardly a complicated message

greengreyblue · 07/06/2024 19:17

Prefer the first one .

weeeeelll hmmmm, up to a point, Lord Copper.
@buma said she wanted a bigger bum but didn’t want to have to exercise to get it that way.

And some of us posting who actually do exercise by lifting heavy weights have said we’re not that interested in the current fad for big glutes.

I, for one, prefer to be able to pull 100 kgs deads or bench almost 50 kgs. I want all-over strength not just getting big.

This. It’s about being strong & toned all over & building muscle mass ready for menopause, not just bum shape.

After 8 months I can deadlift 20kg & bench press 15kg, so very impressed by @YourPithyLilacSheep.

drainthebath · 07/06/2024 21:38

@EmpressaurusDeiGatti
I don't think anyone said people go to the gym and lift weight just for bum shape. Where did you get that idea.
But one of the benefits of lifting heavy weights is beautiful sculpted musculature. Including bums!

Literally no one telling the truth would say 'give me a flat arse over strong well formed glutes'. Who the heck would desire a flat arse.
Oh. Except @greengreyblue They actively like the pancake arse look
