There is nothing in the world I want to do less than my gym class tonight so I'm posting now to make sure I get off the couch.

Proof positive that I need classes to motivate me...I went, it was really good and I worked a lot harder than I expected.

Yass @BogRollBOGOF

Well done @MotherForkinShirtBalls for JFDI.

Mixed week for me.

Water pollution meant I only swam Thursday, Friday, and got in this morning too. My Big Swim got postponed due to weather, so that's a bummer.

We got a big screen for Virtual Classes, which is just playing videos of the Les Mills Plus online classes. I got a go on it Weds and went straight to Barre. 6 months since I did that class, and I'm so happy to have it back, even if it's not with my instructor.

Thursday I was meant to go easy as supposedly resting before Big Swim. However one of the other instructors joined in and it got mental. Unwritten rule is that you do not let the class outwork you, and so it went how it went.

Friday another supposedly quiet class, but just beforehand I got the text saying Big Swim off, so I went for it like a muppet with a firework up his jumper. Cathartic.

That's frustrating about the swim, Bez. Do you have a new date? Run off here is making it very difficult to get in the water at all and with testing only weekly I'm very sceptical of the results.

I was out last night and had left my car, so walked to the gym then on to collect the car after a heavy weights class. When I got home, out to walk the dog so I'm seriously considering going back to bed now...

New date is 4 weeks today @MotherForkinShirtBalls

I plan 3 weeks hard training and good eating, then a week of not much.

20 min upper body weights class

I haven't done a river swim yet this year. No happy combinations of time with current weather and preceding weather. When we had the heat in June, there were too many thunderstorms with rapid run-off hitting my area. It's been hard enough fitting in the lake and that's regularly monitored.

I've done a good blitz at parkrun today though.

Hi everyone, haven't had a chance to catch up on the thread properly but it looks like you have all been keeping at it!

Back from a blissful 12 days of doing nothing but eating and sitting in the sun. Feeling motivated and started off slow today with a Nathalie Hayward mini band workout.

Did a fun Davina 'bit of everything' workout today for a change. Enjoyed it.

BezMills · 14/08/2023 09:47

welcome back @roonetta

Bit of everything workouts are great!

I had a swim on Saturday, and another Sunday morning. Felt good in the water, but of course today it's pissing down and I will take a couple dry days. FFS this weather can get in the bin, honestly sick of it!

On Sunday I led 9 tracks of BodyCombat (aoutsch) then we put Core on the big screen. I did most of that, but was pretty knackered from BC already. Today I feel like I've been punched in both buttocks, serious glute DOMS.

103 days thoughbut!

roonetta · 15/08/2023 09:38

I love hearing about your classes and the type of people that take them Bez. Such a varied bunch. Hope your 'cheeks' are better today Grin

Caroline Girvan upper body done today. Fancy a bit of variety at the moment. Forgotten how tough her workouts are Angry

aw thanks @roonetta I get so much out of teaching my classes. I inherited most of my participants from the previous teacher, but I have acquired a few of my own by now. This pleases me greatly.

My predecessor and instructor/mentor has asked if she can take the Sunday slot and while I really love that one, it wasn't even a hard decision, instant yes. Of course she can have it. I'll still teach two a week, and participate in the Sunday one. It's going to be so great having her back, and introducing her to the new people.

It's also going to be great to just enjoy the class too, and throw in a little bit of off-choreography heat sometimes. When you teach, you really have to stick to the choreography. If you start throwing some fancy shit because you're feeling it, you just confuse the class. But as a participant, I'm down for that. Jumping kicks, double-speed punchin, all kinds of things.

Sounds like a fantastic holiday Roonetta.

Brutal gym class. So many squats in various ways with various weights.

I got in the water Tuesday and Wednesday, nothing else to report. We've finally been blessed with some sunny weather for two days in a row (gives cloudy sky a Paddington Stare).

Swim today at lunchtime, then teaching the BodyCombats tonight.

I was feeling really grotty for the last few days so for a change I actually listened to my body and didn't do much more than walk the dog. Felt OK this morning so went to my gym class but didn't push too hard.

I didn't swim on Thursday, and of course it then hoofed it down with rain overnight on Friday and all day too, meaning my swimmers are staying in the kit bag until Sunday at the earliest.
Taught BC, only one turned up, but we had a good time anyway. She's my neighbour and friend, as it happens. I think I got her to join the gym in the first place, before I was teaching, and she was an instant convert to BodyCombat.
There's a bit in the Thai track where we do a 'plyo push' which I immediately decided to teach as more of a chi push from kung fu. Then on Thursday I realised it could easily be swapped for the HA DO KEN from Street Fighter II. If you know, you know. So it amused me greatly to be shouting HADOOOO KEN in my workout. I really never know what I'm going to say during the workouts, occasionally I amuse myself.

On Friday it was my two older participants (heart damage and spinal surgery) so I gave them the option to bin the absolutely mental Track 7 (muay thai moves to hectic music) and instead I put on the Core track and cooldown. I hadn't learned those yet, so I just played the teaching material on my phone, with the instructor's audio.
The Core track has Rick Astley Never Gonna... as part of the music (with some rnb rap over it) so technically a Rick-roll for me and then the class. I was looking forward to springing that on my people, but my gym has cheaped out on paying the PPL (music licensing) so I have to use the alternative which has some female session vocalist and a re-instrumented backing. Not the same at all.

Aaaanhoo 107 days. Rest day Saturday, as usual.

20 min weights glutes and legs
I say 20 mins, I stopped at 18 as my form was slipping due to fatigue!

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 20/08/2023 14:35

No point in risking injury with bad form, bonfire.

Hill walk this morning.
